When i was 15 I got into trouble and was grounded for an entire summer. 2.5 months isolated to the house is a long time filled with a whole lot of nothing to do. My family had 2 Irish Setters and I already had a respectful relationship with them, but after a week or two of absolutele boredom and my only social connection being with them, out of curiosity I begin to observe them. Their body language, how they communicated with one another, their reactions to different stimulus, what they did all day.. needless to say, after week 3 I found myself on all fours, acting like a member of the pack, learning how to communicate with them. Walking the dogs was one of the few permitted activities I was allowed so I would walk them A LOT. We did everything together and before I knew what I was doing, I quickly established myself as the pack leader and bonded with them on a primal level. I implemented non verbal commands using sigh language, made feeding the best part of our day (previously they were free fed) and instilled a level of control I had no idea was possible. After my punishment was over, I continued that process and it was the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Those dogs were amazing and everyone would ask me how I trained them to be so good and I would tell people that they actually trained me. Fast forward later in life, I started dating a woman (now my wife) who had a terrible Chihuahua and after navigating the waters of sensitivity, took over and unlocked the most amazing dog ever using the same principles and approach i did with my childhood dogs. We later added a golden retriever into our pack and that's around the time that i discovered Cesar (2007) and was blown away that there was guy who was championing an approach i was inadvertently already doing. We were living in Manhattan at the time our pack was dialed in. We moved to Michigan and the Chihuahua lived to 17 and our Golden recently passed away in December at almost 15. We now have our 12yo rescue pup we got when she was 8wks old and adding a Leonberger Puppy into our pack in 2 weeks. Shes going to train to be a water rescue dog. Cesars way is the only way.

I have a puppy who is learning to love walking, but she is reacting to strangers who have high pitched voices who want to “pat the puppy” and she jumps. I’m trying to instil calm, she’s on a gentle leader but she’s like a crazy puppy trying to jump up. How can I instil calm and teach her to ignore people or accept a pat?

Gracias, Cesar & Equipo.

I don’t usually make comments but you really are amazing! I got my first dog when I was 18 brand new into the world and had no business having a dog. I failed him and Cesar taught me that. He was a very high energy Pitt mix who became extremely over protective and aggressive because I was not being a pack leader. I didn’t give him enough exercise or activities. We struggled until he was 11 and got sick. I didn’t really want another dog but several years later my son begged and he decided we were going to watch everything we could find of Cesar’s, over and over again. We have watched other shows with “trainers” and it is just not the same. We now have a new dog his name is Obi (I needed a Jedi dog) and he is 2yrs old. We put so much time and love into practicing dog psychology and I am very proud of him. So thank you so much for all that you do! You have really made a difference in our lives. ❤️

That’s fantastic to hear! I find Cesar’s way not only creates stable and very well behaved dogs but forces us to be calm and enjoy life.. because we can’t be around our dogs if we are stressed and stupid.. because they definitely feel it.. We’ll done!

I have a dog similar, and she has calmed down through gentle speaking too and making it plain who is in control. I make sure that for all energy release she gets let off leach on beaches and forests, anywhere there is a large open space. She does not go for balls, so I purchased a cheap drone, and she runs after that, expending her energy.
It takes time and consideration to thoroughly make your pet happy, knowing the boundaries, and that boundaries are not hard, just reasonable, which I always express to my little one.
She started out being vicious, even toward other dogs, but just holding her until she calmed down eventually did the trick.

I have a lab pit mix and she used to drag me down the sidewalk when I would take her out and I watched many of Cesar's tv show and I tried some of the tips and they work . I stop walking when karma pulls me and she stops and comes back to me 😁😁😁😁 she is now letting other people love in her . My favorite is when I stop walking to talk to someone and karma comes back and sits down she used to try to pull me the other way but if I stand next to the other person and say it's ok karma will come up to get
pets . She was abused before I got her . I'm so happy with her progress and its all thanks to Cesar . He helped me save her life .

    Hi Cesar,
I work at a Canine Rehabilitation Center working with high bite risk dogs. My success with handling these dogs comes naturally to me and it is EXACTLY what you taught in this lesson. I always bond with the dogs I handle and talk calmly to them “Calm Confidence” and I get “Calm Surrender” from them starting with before I enter or exit any door with the dogs I Handle( Sit, Look, Wait). A lot of the dogs are handled now with hand signals and they are calmer and more responsive to (more focused on) the Handler. I am learning to read the Canines body language and watch ‘Intent’ and ‘Intensity’ of the dogs I Handle.
I Thank You for posting your videos where the World can watch and apply what they learn.
Cesar what I would like to get better at is learning to get the younger dogs to stop biting as a game... they don’t want to hurt the Handler but the canine doesn’t know when to stop playing. It typically occurs as I am harnessing the Canine for an outing or after the outing has finished and I have removed the harness. Otherwise the Canines respond well to commands and enjoy their outdoor time.
Currently I am referring to a young Carolina dog, I have tried many different techniques but this hurdle takes me the longest to clear working with these dogs.
    Any input would be helpful,
    Thank you
Are you heading out west anytime in the future?

The dog psychology was the first thing I get attracted to when I came to know Cesar. I was amazed because I'd hear just about dog training but in fact that doesn't solve many bad behaviors.
The sad thing is that I live in a country where Cesar is not much known and trying to explain to people his psychology and methods is not easy, people think I'm a fool...
however I had the chance to demonstrate how his methods works, for example, there was a girl with a pitbull that would always pull the leash, I asked her if I could show her a different way, the dog immediately stop pulling and she was shocked, she said she went to many dog trainers but they couldn't solve that problem, so I told her Cesar's way and then she bought his books and started to practice his ways.
I wish many people can come to know you Cesar, I feel hypnotized when I hear you, my dream is to have the chance to meet you and learn from you.
    Greetings from Italy

I LOVE how you use that example of catching a horse. I use to do horsemanship that helped with my ability to regulate emotions and be more aware of myself and interacting with horses is all about energy and body language. On days when I was super stressed or anxious, it would be harder for me to catch my horse or even if I did, she would exhibit signs of stress around me or we just wouldn't mesh well that day. And I used that experience with my dog. You don't actually have to use sound as much and yeah, that's the last thing you need to do to get the horse or the dog to do what you want.

I got a terrified 12 week old great dane a couple weeks ago. After socialization and building his confidence every day, I'm seeing his real personality. He is a cheeky fellow. I had to help him "calm surrender" today. It was such a relaxing experience for us both. I realized that I had let myself feel sorry for him since he was basically starving. Now, he is so much more calm. I am treating him like a dog, not a victim. He is so precious and im enjoying connecting with him! Your videos are improving HIS life by improving ME!

I "have a way" with dogs, and always have dogs. I naturally do many of the things Caesar talks about. That's not to brag, but to say that it really is basic to a good life for you with your dogs. I find good information and insight with Caesar's videos for the areas where I have problems with my dogs. Like, my dogs are the guarders and protectors of the place (out in the country) and I encourage that. Except I haven't figured out how to get them to stop when I need them to stop. Like when people come over, to be quiet and leave them alone if I tell them to. So a way with dogs gets you so far, but it doesn't cover everything. It's tricky getting a pack of excited dogs to quiet down while still trying to carry on a conversation with someone, and not desert them in order to go do dog training! The two head guarders don't bark and then quit on their own soon. The excitement wears down soon. But it's also game to them, like naughty children, to yell at the visitors when I turn my back to the dogs. They're wagging their tails and laughing the whole time.

Cesar, I have to thank you for what you do for all the pups in the world. I say it this way because what you say helps us humans to understand the animal world better and become better partners for them. In March 2022, I adopted a pittie pup. His name is Titan. Titan came to me at 4 months old. He is the most awesome pup. From day one he had taken treats from my mouth ever so gentle, he comes when called, he sits on command and down on command. I am getting one of the leads you use to help us walk easier. He does ok but pulls when something goes in front of us. Titan is in training to be a service dog for me.
I have been absorbing every video of yours that I find on RUclips. Sir Titan and I thank you so much. I have noticed a difference between an excited voice or a calm voice. He actually responds better to a very calm voice. I do use a few techniques of yours and this amazing trainer in Maine. He uses the philosophy that you uses words after you teach the motion.
Titan has made huge strides for the better. In scary situation for him, loud noises, lots of people, I say follow and he gets behind me .
    Thank you so much

Wow. I missed the knowledge, dedication, and heart of Cesar. I used to stay at my friends house when I was about 14 where my friend and her family loved animals (my mom would never let me have a pet) so I would go to their house to feel the love of their pets & them. Cesar’s show would be on the tv and I would watch it and I took notes on how to handle, behave, and see dogs in a different way than the average person (especially the way my upbringing would view dogs/animals).
Finding Cesar’s RUclips channel now at 30yrs (😅) I finally have my first dog and I am binge watching all these videos. Cesar is one of my, if not, the TOP favorite for learning dogs (spirit, energy, etc).
    My heart feels fulfilled ❤

Thank you sooo much.. your terminology helped me reframe my thinking about a pry we inherited.
Grizzley is a yearling male, thAt we got from our granddaughter. She had gotten him for her mom who was dying of cancer. Mom. Passed and she took him on, and he ended up living at her boyfriends house. He bit the boyfriend.. not sure of the circumstances. She asked if I’d try to save him, so I agreed. Turns out our boy had absolutely no boundaries.I get the feeling he had been spoiled one moment , neglected the next.
Six months later he is doing rally well, no issues with biting or people behaviors. Does well around our other Pry and the working dogs. He looks for affection and truly wants to please… once he learned the boundaries he started improving rapidly.
He still has been acting aggressively over food. He behaves well when I am present , but left alone reacts possessively. Loads of face barking. I was at a loss until watching this video. I’ve since done the calm behavior expectation with him , gradually introducing the other dogs into his space. It has. Worked!
Always did it with the other dogs, and realized I hadn’t done it with Griz. I had been feeding him then going on to finish chores , instead of monitoring his remaining negative behavior. It was a wake up call. Thank you, he truly is not just a good dog but an amazing spirit. Loving and an asset to our farm. Thank you again for helping me to turn this around!

My last dog was a Dalmatian and my soulmate. He taught me how to spiritually connect with him and myself, which made his passing very hard to deal with. As I struggled to decide if could get another dog his spirit helped direct me in the right direction. I found myself with a Dutch shepherd that I've spiritually connect with very quickly. I'm at peace Cesar, thank you so very much.

I don‘t have a dog and never had one, but I love your videos. I think your method is very similiar actually to human psychotherapy. Working with connection, communication and relationship is vital in therapy, it doesn‘t work without those elements. You have a very loving way with dogs and with their people, working with understanding, respect and boundaries. What you teach applies to all living creatures and creates an atmosphere of love and empowerment. Thank you for your work!

A horse can be controlled solely by your energy. I can ride my horse and change gaits, go, stop and turn with slight shifts of my body.
My husband's and my first dog went deaf in her old age. I didn't even realize it at first, because she was reading my body language (the small things I did with each command - obedience or tricks. She was a wonderful dog. Found her at about 8 wks, locked in a telephone booth. We had her for 16 years. ❤

I've been relying only on Cesar (as for my dogs business) ever since Dog Whisperer! It really helped my sixth grader self with my previous daschund. She became extra polite with food and everything. Thank you Cesar!
I'm a master's student now and there's a new corgi puppy at house. I tried what I remember but I'm a bit overwhelmed since he would intendedly bite me when I gestured him to drop a foreign object out of his mouth. I kept wondering "where did I go wrong? did I project the wrong energy?"
But, I guess I'll take it slow, this video reminds me to prioritise "dog psychology". I guess I'll be more patient and look for more references. I'm still not sure about what's wrong with my energy since I think I have been waaaaay more confident than my sixth grader self, but maybe I should re-evaluate. I'm clueless tho.

    • @bearifiablepau2095
      @bearifiablepau2095 2 года назад +1

I'm no expert but I'll share my experience, maybe it will work with your corgi. When my dog was a pup she was so playful , loved to grab everything , so I always kept toys around and she very quickly learned what she was allowed to grab and what was out of limits (cables for example). Many puppies just want to play and don t mind bounderies as long as their toys are available!
Also, when she grsbbed something she shouldn t I would SWITCH it for one of her toys.
      Good luck!
(Note: by toys, I mean any old thing, from an empty plastic bottle to a new stick I found outside to a piece of old cloth... puppies will go crazy over those things!)
