Anyone can nitpick stats like you just did, you had the luxury of Slow motion video, looked at it under a microscope….. the statistician probably had court seat view in real time…Jordan was all over that court, offensively and defensively! Jordan should’ve been back to back DPOY, along with his scoring, that’s mind blowing!!! AOH did a video of the same thing you did, with LeDiddy, and his stats were sooooo egregious, that they were giving him stats he wasn’t even in the frame, he was getting flat footed rebounds, while his teammates blocked everyone out so he can grab them, steals practically fell in his hands because the refs didn’t call the fouls on his teammates, they gave him blocks that were considered steals by his teammates, it’s so bad but I guess you won’t look at those numbers…. I Know what you’re going to say, “Us Jordan Simps” are reaching? We may be but you got to research LeDiddys stat padding numbers too?
No aspiring NBA hopeful ever said "I can't wait to get to the NBA to score X amount of points" ever. It is and always will be, "I cannot wait to be the best and win championships." That should tell you how important stats are.
I would agree in the past but in 10 years ago it’s changed. One person above all changed this so much and other things being done. Too many people are scared to call him out bc there’s some shadow of a doubt but it’s above a 95% chance for it. It’s becoming more n more obvious every year and I said this 8 years ago
i am a 90s kid...and jordan is my inspiration for life....i am not a hater on lebron or other guys...i love the game....but...your work on jordan....everytime....nailed it...but...you always nailed it in every video you upload...thanks man for your work...greetings from austria
See hears my problem tho calling someone out for what’s completely obvious is not hating when you have that man number 2. It’s been clear what he’s doing and how he’s negatively impacted the game. People don’t want to call it out so I will. He’s the only one ever in ANY sport to do this. This should say everything and my problem it’s so obvious on a 95% probability rate and when you factor in what he says versus his actions almost make it 100%. If he was real about it then that would be better. I think in the next 2 decades stories will come out that show things in so much of a negative light. If I’m wrong I’m wrong buys it’s clear he doesn’t care about winning and that’s been how it was for at least 13 or more of his seasons. I’m being nice saying 13
Been watching nba since 1989 and I promise to all the younger ones Jordan was the best and it’s not even close. If you take the time to watch some random game footage (not highlights) you will get it.
Rodman's "ANTICS" with the Lakers IS LITERALLY the same as when he was with Chicago "AND" the Spurs the only difference was that Chicago (Phil and Michael) worked with what they got with Dennis while the Lakers and Spurs "complained"
Phil and Michael knew how to utilize Dennis, and they recognized what he brought to the team. likewise Rodman respected Michael. Rodman was a wildcard for sure but give him some space and get his respect and he'll hustle like no one else for you.
Another great video Johnny! Kevin Garnett is my favorite Player of all time and I never watched Jordan live, that said, MJ is still the greatest basketball player I have ever seen. I appreciate your unbias approach to your videos man
He probably just figured that there would be a player who would take over the NBA and be the new face of it just like he did and was in the 90s after he retired.
@bwink23 : FACTS! This era are more interested in electronic devices than actual ability. The only time they actual utilize sneakers are for fashion statements. smh!
@@JohnDoe-ky5uo Cool! Did he try to maintain sustained dominance and win 3 in a row at least once and jump ship to another team when the team he's on is going downhill? I can't fault him for leaving Cavs once but leaving the Heat and Cavs the 2nd time to ring chase? Nah dude's selfish af.
Great compilation, Jonny! I really like the brand new video about MJ's greatness. You're right that he focused on winning and that is - and I totally agree with you - much more important than any statistic. He was ultracompetitive and he pushed his teammates very hard. And, he used anything from an MVP snub to something much more small scale and arguably petty (like George Karl not saying hi to him and making up a story of a player praising him after a loss) as an extra motivation to play at his very best. To me, he is the GOAT and his focus was integral to his success. I also really like what you said about critical thinking when it comes to remarks by former (and current) NBA stars - as well as media figures - about the game. Your advice not only applies to basketball, but also to life in general. It's an important skill and definitely one to apply throughout one's life, particularly every person has their own bias and their own perspectives. It definitely helps with learning about the game and its history too. Great job in summarizing the difficulties behind the scenes between MJ, other Bulls players, Phil Jackson, and Bulls management. I've read about it over the years and I agree that to cover it in great detail would require an extensive video. You did a great job in concisely discussing it and covering the most important points. I need to check out the other videos too. I remember watching each of them before and they're cool. Nice compilation again. Have a great rest of the week :). Take care, Jonny!
Jonny Arnett the goat 🐐 🙌 👌 well explained always well put brother. My dad and my friends and family love your content. Now I have my nephew doing his homework with your channel. 😊
Even as a HUGE and LIFELONG Jordan fan, I'm so glad you covered the stat issue from the 1988 DPoY race. Truth must always be sought, identified, and told... no matter what. Thank you for that, and thank you for acknowledging that it still didn't change anything overall. Now I look forward to your examination of this shady practice as it pertains to countless other stars throughout the various eras.
Chi didn't pick up a free agent because they anticipated the return of MJ, that 5th straight could have been a prime veteran on a 1 yr trying to win a title like Clyde. Trust me no one was touching MJ, he would have carried until the wheels fell off, he had a thing where when he was tired he could dig deep every time, smoking cigars made him a little burnt but picked his adrenaline up 3 notches
@@alfasiger4178 Also the fact that at age 35 he was scoring champ (beat out a prime Shaq for the honors), league MVP, All-Star MVP, Finals MVP, won the chip, All-First NBA Team and All-First Defensive Team. People talk about durability and longevity, MJ had unreal durability considering that he played all 82 games 9 times in his career.
@@JohnDoe-ky5uo And Lebron needed 21 years to get all those stats. Not impressive. Lebron played sloppy resulting in #1 turnover all time, 2nd missed layups, 2nd missed shots. Thats why he needed 21 years to get 40k11k11k And played in the Leastern conference. 2 of the greatest rings? The guy had it easy. Draymond got kicked out and Bogut got injured. There is no good ring for this guy. Olajuwon and Jordan had the best rings cause they both got 2 with no other all-star. MJ never choked in Finals. Lebron choked in 3 finals. Jordan has higher PER with PPG in regular and post season with 10 scoring titles. Lebron has 1. Kobe has 12 All defensive awards, MJ has 9. Lebron only 5. MJ=6 rings, Kobe=5, Lebron=4 MJ had Pippen. Kobe had Shaq/Gasol Lebron had Wade, Bosh, Love, Kyrie, Davis, Williams, Allen. Lebron is not the best at anything in his position. MJ best 2 way player with footwork and mid range. Its not close.
@@JohnDoe-ky5uo stats hold no real weight once you actualy take the time to watch a random game of both players and see that it really isnt a comparision.
NBA TOP 30 ALL TIME: 1. Michael Jordan - the greatest player and the greatest career in NBA history. Most dominant offensive force and one of the games best defenders. 6x Champ 6x FMVP 5x MVP 2. Bill Russell - the greatest winner and greatest defensive force in NBA and sports history. A legend on/off court. The key to NBA first dynasty. 11x Champ 5x FMVP 5x MVP 3. Magic Johnson - the great PG ever (so far…). REVOLUTIONIZED his position and saved the NBA. 5x Champ 3x FMVP 3xMVP 4. LeBron James - the greatest longevity in sports history. One of the most dominant forces ever and top5 all round player. Still.. counting. 4x Champ 4x FMVP 4x MVP 5. Tim Duncan - best PF ever. One of the most fundamentally sound players ever. Played both ends at the highest level for 15 seasons. 5x Champ 3x FMVP 2x MVP 6. Kareem Abdul Jabar - owner of the most dominant go-to move on offense. The HOOK. The previous scoring leader and lead all points for 4 decades. The greatest BASKETBALL career ever. Prep to Pro. 6x Champ 2x FMVP 6x MVP 7. Kobe Bryant - see number 1 and dilute the athleticism and physical intangibles and that’s what you got. Arguably the greatest warrior in NBA history. 5x Champ 2x FMVP 1x MVP 8. Shaquille O’Neal - the most dominant ever. The immovable object/unstoppable force. Shaq was the definition of dominance. 4x Champ 3x FMVP 1x MVP 9. Larry Bird - maybe the most legendary on the list. Precursor to Jokic but better. One of the most skilled & clutch players ever. In any sport. 3x Champ 2x FMVP 3x MVP 10. Hakeem Olajuwon - back to back. The best of the mid90’s and second best player in the era. Hakeem is like Russell but with AllNBA offensive ability. 2x Champ 2x FMVP 1x MVP 11. Wilt Chamberlain - the games most prolific scorers. Arguably it’s greatest defender as well. The man could do it all. Even lead the league in assist at 7”2. Wilt IS unparalleled. GOAT athlete. 2x Champ 2x FMVP 3x MVP 12. Steph Curry - the games most prolific shooter and one of its greatest scorers. REVOLUTIONIZED the game forever. STILL GOING. 4x Champ 1x FMVP 2x MVP 13. Isaiah Thomas - ZEKE. CP3 before CP3 but nastier and meaner. A warrior and one of the games greatest strategist and generals. Quietly a top5 passer. 2x Champ 2x FMVP 14. Oscar Robertson - the greatest all around basketball player ever. Could do everything at a AllNBA level. Changed the way players were interpreted and influenced generations. 1x Champ 2x MVP 15. Kevin Durant - the Slim Reaper is likely the most ideal offensive weapon ever. Can hit from anywhere, anytime over anyone. Hard to beat and impossible to match that level of offensive dominance. 2x Champ 2x FMVP 1x MVP 16. Julius Erving - The good Dr., the FIRST MJ (before Magic & Jordan), The icon and face of BOTH leagues that saved the game in the 70’s. Kareem was the best but Doc was a close 2nd. Underrated statistical brilliance. Was like a 6’7-6’8 Giannis but with a better jump shot. 3x Champ (1 NBA) 2x FMVP 4x MVP (1 NBA) 17.. Moses Malone - CHAIRMAN OF DA BOARDS. Arguably the best board getter… ever. Only Wilt, Russell, Rodman and Thurmond belong in the same discussion. Moses lead his people to the promise land more than once but was able to claim immortality in the early 80’s. His team lead by the dynamic duo of he and Doc dominated the league. Before Lakers v. Celtics it was 76ers v. Celtics-Lakers. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 3xMVP 18. John Havlicek - the GREAT one. MJ is 6-0. Ole Johnny is 8-0. The offensive force off the bench or starting that lead the dynastic Celtics to all 8. Early in his career he was akin to Jordan Poole role on Warriors 22’ team but better at everything but the 3 ball. Then in the late 60’s-70’s he sat in captains seat. His career is a unique mix. Played like Pippen with elite perimeter shooting/scoring, early career was early Kobe-esque, late career MJ/Kobe-esque. John’s game rose in the playoffs. 8x Champ 1x FMVP (likely 4x) 19. Giannis Antetokounmpo - it’s getting freaky… GreekMan is literally on the ride to potentially threatening Tim’s best PF title. If he can add a couple more rings to his already HOF profile he will likely be the new PF or TOP 5 player. Yea. THAT GOOD. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 2x MVP 1x DPOY 20. Jerry West - The LOGO. Steph Curry before Steph. The man that built the LA franchise along Baylor post Mikan era. Jerry West was the blueprint skill base for players like Kobe, MJ, TMac, etc At 6’2-6’3 he torched his opponents his entire career and dropped plenty of dimes. The ORIGINAL combo guard. So damn great he LOST and still won FMVP… case closed. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 21. Nikola Jokic - the Joker is no damn joke. Genuinely a candidate for potential GOAT if his career pans out in the extreme positive like that of the top 10. Jokic is in a unique place being the greatest passing big statically NBA history (excluding Magic). If Jokic finds a way to fit more jewelry in his fingers, we might have to have a real discussion about that greatest Center of all time discussion. Yes. Potentially a top 5 player alert. 1x MVP 1x FMVP 3x MVP (should’ve been 3 consecutive but you know 22. Rick Barry - The ACTUAL “White Mamba”. Just predated the black one… Barry was the answer up until 85’ when you asked who the best SF ever. His game was similar to West but 6’7 and a better FT%. Controversial, cerebral and iconic. Had so much game he had to share what was left with his sons… 1x Champ 1x FMVP 23. Kevin Garnett - The Big Ticket. The 00’ Giannis. In every way but he had a better jumper midrange and beyond. KG was a monstrosity on OFF/DEF in his prime much like his modern comparison. Led the TWolves to relevance and led the 08’ Celtics to a chip. Truly the BIG TICKET. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 1x MVP 24. Dirk Nowitzki - DIGGLER. The one and only. The German Bird. THE Maverick. Dirk is one of the most beloved, iconic and acclaimed players ever. The 00’s stretch big supreme. Dirk was able to take the Mavs to immortality over 11’ Heat in arguably the most surprising run ever. Only Dirk. Forever the DIGGLER. Arguably, the GOAT Euro player. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 1x MVP 25. Bob Pettit - Big Blue was the first stretch 4 in the games history. That’s for starters. Pettit was a tenacious rebounder and highly skilled scorer. He was much akin to K. Love of his era but in better shape and played defense. Think a smaller Dirk who grabbed boards like Love but in the 50’s-60’s era. Not only that, much like Dirk, Pettit lead a historic upset over Russell’s Celtics. A true champ. 1x Champ 1x FMVP 2x MVP 26. Dwayne Wade - The Flash. Wade County. The greatest Heat in NBA history. Wade is arguably the best defensive player at his position and easily too3 (MJ, Kobe). Led the Heat to a title in 06’ in historic fashion against Dirks Mavs. Then winning a couple more as LBJ’s Pippen. His career was like Kobe’s… in reverse. Wade’s early injuries reduced his maximum career output but yet here he is… says a ton. 3x Champ 1x FMVP 27. Elgin Baylor - The PROTOTYPE. Before West, Julius, Thompson, Wilkins, MJ, Hardaway, Kobe, Carter, TMac, Wade, Ant etc There was Elgin Baylor. The first Air, the first Mamba, the first Half Man/Amazing, Flash etc Baylor spearheaded an era that hardly wanted his talents there but had no other choice but to be in awe of it. Think Harden, in shape but not as good of a playmaker, twice the rebounder and a better defender. That’s Elgin. *left a season before historic LAL title win 28. David Robinson - The Admiral. The USA’s biggest weapon in the 90’s was also one of the greatest ever. Made the spurs relevant pre-Duncan and post. Has some of the greatest seasons statistically. Think Giannis but 7’2 with a lefty and 15 footer plus an even better defender. 2x Champ 1x MVP 29. Karl Malone - the Mailman was LBJ minus the handles and vision. King of the pick n roll. 1x MVP 30. Charles Barkley - The Round Mound of Rebound was the Tasmanian devil in a basketball jersey. Prime 25 5 13 guy. Impact everywhere he went. OG DREAMTEAM member by the way… 1x MVP 30 (?) Clyde Drexler - The Glide. One of the most useful all around talents in nba history. One of the greatest two way players ever. Helped every squad he went to become a contender. 1x Champ * HONORABLE MENTION: McHale, Nash, Harden, Parker, CP3, Stockton, Walton, Payton, Westbrook, Drexler, Ewing, Sam Jones, Cousy, Pierce, Iverson, McAdoo, Frazier, Unsled, Reed, Webber, English, A. Davis ^GIVE HONEST FEEDBACK CRITIQUE ATTEMPTING A PERFECT TOP30 list
I think my critique would be that I try to make a goat list based on who was the most dominant in their era. And so there's basically five and you can make the argument that six eras throughout 10 years spans that start either from the 60s or 70s is a great way of of making a goat list because of so many different circumstances that cannot be applied to each in particular era. So my list or my top five would look something like this. 1. Jordan 1990-2000 2. Kobe 2000-2010 3. LeBron 2010-2020 4. Kareem or Magic 1970-1990 5. Russell 1960-1970 From looking at your list I could give a few critiques for example you have Magic in the right spot but I don't think he's better than Kobe or Lebron because Magic was nowhere near the defender that those guys were. For example, Magic Johnson is a better playmaker and more efficient then Kobe and LeBron. However, both Bron and Kobe are better jump shooters especially Kobe from the mid-range and both from the 3-point line on more volume but adding in consistent and multiple years of making all defensive teams is what makes them a better player than Magic to me. I think LeBron played with more help but LeBron also has the longevity and the all-time scoring record and Kobe had more longevity and more all-time records to add on. Also magic played with a super stacked deck compared to Kobe people use the argument that Kobe played with Shaq but my argument would be is if Kareem and Magic are considered two top five players all time I believe they should have won more finals considering how long they were together and they lost 3 times together and if they are legitimate two of the top five players of all time. Kobe and Shaq were able to three-peat which only Jordan and Russell have done. And another thing I would not put Tim Duncan over Kobe is because Kobe did very well against Spurs and got the better of Tim Duncan in the playoffs with and without Shaquille O'Neal. I think Kobe's best performances of his career actually came against the Spurs who were a legitimate dynasty just like the Lakers and I think that Kobe actually outperformed Shaq in those particular matchups which to me were the true finals and the true toughest test that the Lakers faced on the way to their multiple championships. Tim actually got the better of LeBron in the finals though so he definitely deserves a spot near the top five and guaranteed in the top 10. I just want to add another reason for my argument having tim below Kobe and LeBron is he did win 3 titles 3-0 between 2000-2010 but Kobe won 5 titles and went 5-2 in that same 10 years span.
Lebron too high (but I don't expect you to agree on this one), Bird too low, Bill Russell too high he played with up to 9 HOF at one time and he wasn't the key to the first dynasty, he was the key to the 2nd. George Mikan was the key to the first dynasty with the Minneapolis Lakers. David Robinson too low, he is a top 5 talent that put up some of the greatest seasons in NBA history and was possibly the single most valuable player to his team when he played on those 90s Spurs. I personally think he was the best spur of all-time since he was a better basketball player than Duncan, Duncan just had the better team and system around him. Dirk should not be above Dwyane Wade, not only is Wade's resume better even when discounting the team up years he was a better individual basketball player due to his defense. Giannis is WAAAAAY too high there is no way that to date he is better than the likes of Robinson, Wade, Karl Malone (who is a 2x MVP btw. he won in 97 and 99 as the oldest MVP ever), KG, West or Jokic. I probably wouldn't even put Giannis in the top 30 but I won't argue it if you do. Duncan too high, he coasted for the last decade plus of his career and other people took over as the most valuable player in the Finals for him. He also is not the best PF ever since he played more games and seasons at Center in his career than PF. Moses Malone is too high. He is a notorious stat padder. he would deliberately miss shots at the rim in order to stack more rebounds on his statline before finishing the bucket. Dr J too low. He was not just the best ABA player ever, he led his teams to multiple championships in the NBA as well as the ABA and was a league MVP in an era dominated by Kareem, Bird and Magic. Big O Not really a complaint about his rank moreso a complaint that he is the best all around basketball player ever. Jordan, Wilt and Hakeem alone were better all-around. They were better defenders and Hakeem and Jordan didn't play in the fastest era in NBA history to stack those assist and rebound numbers like he did. Lebron's longevity is overblown. He's played less than 65 games in a season more than he's played 80 games in a season (currently stands at 5 vs 3 seasons). The dude coasts through his seasons playing maybe 3/4 of them. He also has become an absolutely mediocre defender and is just flat out a shell of himself. It just looks less obvious because the league has made scoring much easier to do with the rules and he still has some offensive ability at the rim. KG and Jokic are probably too low as well. KG is the REAL best PF ever at the moment if Malone and Barkley aren't. Jokic has had a better career than Antetokounmpo currently. I personally would have Barkley higher but not going to argue him that much. Pippen should probably be an honorable mention if you have the likes of Sam Jones, Cousy, Pierce, Tony Parker and Webber there. Kidd also should be an honorable mention, he was arguably better than Nash. The Big E Elvin Hayes, Bernard King, Artis Gilmore, Gervin, Dantley, Ray Allen, Mikan, original Chairman of the Boards Nate Thurmond, Parish, Nate Archibald and Nique are all worthy honorable mention candidates. And I am sure I am forgetting a few myself. Misspelled Wade and Isiah Thomas' name, just to FYI. I would also just make Drexler an honorable mention.
@@scottb3034 dude your critique of his list was absolutely spot on I agreed with literally everything you said which is crazy. What would your top 10 look like?
@@Grassfedrumproast I take Kobe over Tim all day but the list is an ALLTIME assessment. Duncan ranks higher due to him being the gold standard of his position while winning as much in the same era as Kobe with better accolades. Kobe defeated Duncan constantly but he had several years were he simply couldn’t compete or lost to SA. As far as Magic goes I see the argument for LBJ & Kobe over him, however his overall impact career wise and accomplishments give Magic the edge. The top 10, outside of Mike, is a game of inches or less. Minor differences shape the ranking. My assessment is based on overall. Basically where they stack up against every peer in the modern game (60’s-Now). 1. Factor individual play/skill & accomplishments 2. Career scope or story + accolades 3. Compared to position (ALLTIME) 4. Compare to peers (ALLTIME) 5. Overall impact on NBA/basketball
I do believe both the GM and owner of Chicago would had gotten someone to fill that hole in center. Those guys got some pretty great players to surround MJ.
@@snakebitten6967I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Young Jordan was a unicorn and Kobe learned a lot from Seasoned Jordan that he could properly emulate.
Hi@@jonnyarnett, greetings from Ireland! Love your content! Around 2 months ago, you posted a video analysis of 10 games from Jordan's DPOY season, in response to Tom Haberstroh’s article. You tracked every time Jordan got his hand on the ball to disrupt the opponents offense and you concluded at the end of your video that MJ's blocks were actually UNDER credited but his steals were intentionally inflated. Since the release of that video, countless people in your comment section have questioned your conclusion that some steals were gifted, as this simply does not explain the obvious surplus/deficit correlation between the steals and blocks that you tracked in those 10 games. Additionally, many of your viewers also pointed to the fact that steals were assessed differently in that Era, rendering your assessment of MJ's steals using today's rules, inapplicable. I note that you have since acknowledged these observations in your comment section and vowed to release a follow up video. I look forward to this updated video, hopefully it will address the following important points which were surprisingly omitted from your original analysis... The footage from your 10 game breakdown revealed 15 occasions where Jordan got his hand on the opponent's ball, causing a deflection…you assessed these deflections as 15 'possible blocks' but noted that the Statistician did NOT credit these 15 blocks to MJ's official block count. That's a crucial discovery, and incidentally, one that Haberstroh failed to mention in his article, despite claiming to have analysed 6 of those games. Here is an important question Jonny that has yet to be answered... If that Statistician in 1987/88 was purposely inflating Jordan's defensive stats, why would he UNDER credit Jordan's blocks? If his goal truly was to inflate Jordan's defensive stats, there is no question that he would have credited every single one of those 15 'possible blocks' to MJ's block count...but he didn't. It's obvious to any rational person that the Statistician clearly assessed those 15 'possible blocks' as steals and credited them to Jordan’s official steal count. It's the most logical explanation for his block count being UNDER credited. Like many of your viewers, I was shocked that you failed to connect these dots in your original analysis. The question is, was the Stat-keeper correct in assessing those 15 deflections as steals or should he have categorised them as blocks, as you did in your analysis? An answer to that question requires more detailed research into the rules of that Era and how blocks and steals were consistently interpreted and officiated at that time. I watched an old 1992 Bulls regular season game recently and noticed that on 2 separate occasions Jordan got his hand on the opponents ball in the passing lane, deflecting the ball to two of his teammates and the commentator announced “another steal for MJ” on both occasions, indicating that steals were credited to the player causing the deflection…this is not consistent with how you analysed MJ's steals during your original breakdown. Also, something else that you didn’t account for was the fact that the Statisticians in the 80's didn't have the luxury of relying on instant replay or multiple camera angles, they had to make an assessment in real time, from the side lines, so it's highly plausible that from the vantage point of the Statistician, an occasional block may have been mistakenly assessed as a steal. Either way, logic dictates Jordan's steals were not 'gifted' in those 10 games, his blocks were UNDER credited and his steals were over credited, by a very similar number...clearly the Statistician categorised those 15 'possible blocks' as steals, hence the surplus/deficit correlation between the blocks and steals. Finally, it's important to note Jonny, even if your research into the rules of that Era reveals that those 15 deflections should have been categorised as blocks and not steals, that would amount to stat misplacement, NOT stat inflation. There's a very important distinction there. In such case, Jordan's official steals count for those 10 games would indeed need to be reduced by 15, however, his official block count would then need to be INCREASED by 15. So no matter which way you slice it, whether those 15 deflections are placed in the steals column or in the blocks column, it wouldn't change Jordan's overall defensive stats in those 10 games because you would essentially be subtracting 15 from one defensive column and adding 15 to another defensive column, which of course would have zero impact on the validity of MJ's DPOY award. Just to reiterate Jonny, I think you did a great job overall on this topic, it's clear how much effort and hard work you put into it but a closer look at those steals is 100% warranted. It just doesn't make sense that a Stat-keeper intent on inflating Jordan's defensive stats would UNDER credit his blocks by 15 over the course of 10 games.
The problem with these what if scenarios is no matter what point you making you can always make the "if" scenario fit whatever point you trying to make. Also the biggest issue is that your trying to use what other teams and players did while M.J wasn't there. Meaning think about the Butterfly Effect. For example Tim Duncan decides to listen to a different radio station while going to the practice facility misses his turn and ends up getting to practice 5 mins late misses 2 mins of coaches talk says something to throw off a role players attention and causes him to get upset cusses at a worker there who has an attitude and is rude to a fan at the game that night and the fan on his way to his seat slips and falls distracting a player passing g the ball to Tim Duncan and hits him in the nose by accident breaking it Tim Duncan out for the season and the Spurs lose 45 games that season and now everyone is wondering if they would've been the team to stop the Bulls that year when they won their 8th title. Point is you never know what would happen in the world altogether if Jordan doesn't retire

Fingers crossed we will get that lbj vid. I really would like to see the impact of coaches teammates and systems explored more in depth. I have been watching this channel for awhile because i thought it was more in depth than other channels. But it seems more like a mj lovefest lately. So many mj vids lol. But not a single vid measuring phil jackson vs other coaches the triangle system vs others effectiveness and the impact that great team defense and team chemistry has on a players legacy. Lebron has played with great players but not the same coach and system so i think mj gets a pass too often.
If you are a fan, you can definitively say Lebron doesn't want to play with a legit system. Because he's the system for whoever coach he plays for. I can't believe you haven't realized that by now. How many coaches has Lebron fired throughout his career? Even in the last Olympics, Kerr gave in and put him in the PG spot instead of utilizing Haliburton's playmaking.
@@randellllarena7525 i would argue that having a all time great has been severely underrated. I believe phil jackson to be one of the greatest coaches ever. Just ask rodman. I believe the triangle to be the greatest system of the 90s. Ask mj. Lbj first years in cleveland he was the system. In miami it was spoelstra. In cleveland again it was blatt. Then lue. Then walton. Need i continue? My point is this. We can debate if these coaches were good or not. All of the coaches fired or replaced have never had success since. Must be nice as mj fans to have phil jackson huh? I wonder if jordan switched with lebron would he had done the same thing. He definitely would have had the authority considering how superstars are treated today. To me your argument is about the nba allowing superstars luxuries that older nba players didnt have. Unless you were mj...
You can tell Arnett is not an athlete. You don’t buy that MJ was not in basketball shape just because he was dropping big scoring numbers??? I know 50 year old guys who haven’t hooped in years that would bust a lot of people up on short notice. When you are highly skilled and elite athlete, even when you not on the usual regimen, you will be nasty. It’s second nature. However, if Arnett was an athlete, he would have noticed the tell tale signs MJ was not in b-ball shape. Baseball you exert yourself for very few minutes and it’s not a contact sport so you done need a lot of bulk and you use different muscles. Watching MJ for those 17 games you can clearly see him slipping on defense due to being winded, and you can see him quickness was a step off. Also, that tiredness caused loss of concentration which led to that famous turnover. Now look at MJ the following 3 years when he was back in full b-ball shape. Those signs were gone and we saw what he and team did to the league. Think for yourselves folks even with these RUclipsrs. They are still giving opinions based on their level of knowledge and era they from. Case in point. This era these guys make lots of excuses and they are not forced to accept accountability. MJ’s generation we are realists and seeked and took responsibility. So if that man tells you he wasn’t in b-ball shape, he wasn’t in b-ball shape as video of those 17 games clearly shows. Good video over all though.
Still waiting for that unbiased vid on mj and how having scottie rodman Phil Jackson triangle and 40 percent shooters consistently and the value of having this consistently. Thanks man great vids just seems bias sometimes really wish ppl would talk more in depth about this and not throw the stereotypical mj did it all😮
Question, Bill Fitch and John Kundla were on the top 10 coaches list for the 50th anniversary team. they were excluded in the top 15 list. are they better than any coaches who are on the top 15 list?
It is possible the blocks jordan take and get possession can be count to as steal When you blocked and the ball went away lets say the ball.went out of bounds...it is blocked But when you blocked a shot and you take the possession, it can be considered block and steal
And jordan has numerous of that And..... a shooting foul and the ball went in... the play is called AND 1 BUT when you blocked the shot even if the there is a foul prior, it is consider blocked
Why didn't you mention that the Bulls beat the Spurs without Scottie Pippen in the first game in Chicago? Jordan shot absolutely terrible that game, but made up for it with clutch shots down the stretch. Rodman equaled Duncan's 22 rebounds and the Bulls outrebounded the Spurs 60 to 56, including Jordan grabbing 13 rebounds himself. Did you also forget that Rodman had a bone to pick with the Spurs, so I think he would have been highly motivated for some revenge.
0:48:00 you mention the 4 teams he would most likely join and i cant disagree however its more interesting to think of the teams where he would fit and make em champions like for example Spurs , you cant tell me jordan and duncan wouldnt have chance against shaq and kobe it would be bloodbath . the other awesome team he would find instant fit in and make em possible champions are Sacramento Kings Bibby divac webber and jordan ? cmon ! the 3rd and final one would be 76ers . this one is because maybe MJ could have huge influence on AI . and ai being best player at the time - you never know how this could develop . maybe they would hate each other or maybe mj would have huge impact on his career , and we would now argue why AI is the best player ever ...
What about 1998, 1999 the year the New York made it to the finals and the year the San antonio won the championship it think they would won there 8, or 9 ring ❤❤
THING IS. Playing. Two way. Hard both ways. Today, players(lol) only TRY and offence. Zero defense NBA is a Joke. Puke in my mouth, swallow it, puke in my mouth again.... REPEAT 3x
MJ had the most dominant 10yr stretch in NBA history. I prefer GOAT conversations by era alone. His DPoTY was a fraud. We all knew it when we saw it. LbJ over MJ for his defense isn't even close. Why is even a discussion? LBJ- best all-around player for 2 decades. MJ- best offensive player ever and best clutch/ most wins in a 10yr stretch. Magic/ Bird can't be compared to current era just like MJ can't be compared to Russell's feats of the 60's. It's a sport of eras. There is no true "goat". If there was, it would be Russel, but we all know that's not true/ even with 11 rings as a player
Eh. I'm going to have to disagree on that one. Kemp had too good of a series. If Rodman had shut Kemp down, he'd have a better case. Rodman was good on the offensive glass, but that was pretty typical play for Rodman when he was actually locked in. However, Kemp still lit him and everyone else up and it's not like Rodman was scoring out of his mind to compensate or something. Jordan, on the other hand, held Hawkins and Payton below their regular season averages while Ron Harper was dealing with injuries. And, in spite of shooting poorly for MJ standards, he still outscored everyone else in the process during that series. Compared to all his other finals, MJ's efficiency wasn't great. But it was actually pretty average compared to a lot of other finals MVP's stats and shooting numbers. In addition, nobody other than Kemp shot well in this series, and Kemp's numbers actually went up somewhat significantly compared to the regular season. Kukoc had okay percentages but he did it only scoring about 10ppg. And Pippen shot even worse than Jordan (I think his FG% was like 35% or something). The final votes for the finals MVP was fairly in line with who the best players were (IMO): 1. Jordan 2. Kemp 3. Rodman
Explain your answer how jordans 2 more champion ships 2 3 peats dpoy and 10 scoring titles is WORSE than lebrons 4 championships losing the finals multiple times (most points scored but terrible year to pts per year ratio) jordan scored more in 15 seasons than lebron did in 15 seasons. The reason why I don't count lebrons longevity is the PED Scandal that was covered up heavily by ESPN (most like bcuz if they demonize Lebron they lose ratings)
That's a weird premise to set, because some of those obstacles were specific stats. Using the win games and winning championships quote, he didn't avenge every loss. He obviously was successful, but it's weird line to draw for this point, when his most ardent supporters offer 6/6 in the finals. I think you're inadvertently building a point for lebron lovers. This will go on forever, though
By the way i always hear lebron had better teammates but i think what ppl mean to say is lebron had better superstars because mj definitely had better teams. He literally won 72 games that year. Or was it all mj😂
What if Jordan had another allstar teammate in the 80s, nevermind 5 HOF like the Celtics? What if Reindorf didn't break up the Bulls after the 97/98 season and they went for 7 championships? What if Jordan followed Phil to LA and teamed up with Kobe & Shaq and won a third three-peat? 'What if' is cool but we can only go by what actually happened.
Watched the first but couldn’t get through it because of the shade thrown throughout you don’t have to be the voice of defense for the older era you trolling the new era takes away from your videos imo just because the younger generation trolls don’t mean you should partake in the circus
@@jonnyarnett It isn't that you haven't been pro-Jordan, it is that you have drastically increased your pro-Jordan content which now seems almost daily/weekly. Also, would still love to hear an explanation from you on why you hold LBJ accountable for 2007 when he was 22 years old, which was a deciding factor in leaving him off the top 10 most clutch list?
The irony in saying “MJ needed a challenge to overcome” then proceeded to retire again because he couldn’t have the coach he wanted.. lmao 😂 additionally, he needed a “challenge” by joining the wizards to win a chip. Cmon now brother
Also winning championships for multiple teams and fanbase is way more impactful than six in one city. Not everyone was or is bulls fans. I remember most my family hating mj because they were die hard indiana and philly fans. So i think when you say lebron won less than mj i say no he won more important things for more ppl with less consistent elements than mj. But i guess nobody but bulls and mj fans matter😂
How is it more impactful? The Bulls became a global commodity because of Jordan. No one outside of Ali, Messi, Ronaldo, & a few more had that impact on global culture. If you were around that point in time - especially the last 3-peat, you’d understand that they were practically the Beatles of the NBA. The only beloved championship that Lebron will ever have is 2016. The 2 in Miami? - that’ll always be Wade’s team. The bubble? More than half of the LA fanbase can’t stand what the team has become.
@@rackball5858 i beleive its more impactful because when he did win i didnt hear any of those fanbases saying they were upset. In fact right after those championships ppl look ecstatic and happy. Theres tape to prove it. As far as the bulls and jordan becoming the beatles of their time i still dont beleive that ppl who were fans of their team worshipped jordan. What i beleive your talking about mjs celebrity globally but not every nba fans favorite player or team was mj and the bulls. As far as global impact you forgot to mention hakeem patrick magic charles and multiple hometown heros of their respective countries. So slow down with your subjective argument. At least have something objectively u can prove. All love tho.
@@johnnelson1251 Well ,of course, any fanbase is not going to be upset if they get to party & have a parade. And yes, the rivalry teams(especially Detroit, Indiana, & New York) couldn’t stand him or the Bulls. The cliche “you weren’t around to witness it” gets overplayed & sounds hyperbolic, but it wasn’t. We have yet to see a basketball player top the highest paid athletes since Jordan(he did it 6x). The highest endorsed, the most popular, the greatest legacy happens to be Jordan. And no, Barkley, Ewing, Hakeem were popular with their franchise’s fanbase, but nowhere near the vicinity of Jordan. Shaq was probably #2 & he wasn’t even in Jordan’s stratosphere.
@@rackball5858 once again i believe hakeem in his home country was more popular say what u will. Also dont minimize the impact of winning a championship and how fans value that to a parade. Of course i should have expected this tho. Ppl like u worship mj to the point you dumb down and disrespect ppl over him. Not just rival fans didnt like mj. You dont know that as a fact. So dont use subjective arguments. Prove to me that only his rivals team fanbase didnt support him. I dont think celtic cavs rockets warriors or any other fanbase worshipped mj. I dont think they hated him but i dont think they supported him.
@@rackball5858 also dont bring up competition to mj and the bulls unless u mention scottie rodman phil jacksonand the triangle and 40 percent three point shooters that was a consistent theme for mj.
This video is full of lies 😂 Example: he joined the wizards as a stipulation to acquire the team..he had to play there b4 they sold it to him. That's why he went there. Not bcuz it was a challenge
Still waiting on that unbiased lebron mj vid. Kinda disappointed its another mj vid to be honest. Me being a fan of lebron isnt why either. Its just that i dont think we take into considerationmj having great teams and a great coach with a great system. Instead ppl act like it was only him. Its frustrating as a fan of the nba. Its 5v5 not 1v5.

@@MykoveliRelax and watch the video to the end. Johnny is a Jordan fan and he still picks Jordan as the DPOY for that season.
No aspiring NBA hopeful ever said "I can't wait to get to the NBA to score X amount of points" ever. It is and always will be, "I cannot wait to be the best and win championships." That should tell you how important stats are.
Once you get the ring the stats are next and if you know you can't get that ring then you chase stats
I would agree in the past but in 10 years ago it’s changed. One person above all changed this so much and other things being done. Too many people are scared to call him out bc there’s some shadow of a doubt but it’s above a 95% chance for it. It’s becoming more n more obvious every year and I said this 8 years ago
Jordan talking about stats is great. All the LeBron stans care about is stats. And mostly career longevity stats.
i am a 90s kid...and jordan is my inspiration for life....i am not a hater on lebron or other guys...i love the game....but...your work on jordan....everytime....nailed it...but...you always nailed it in every video you upload...thanks man for your work...greetings from austria
If you take the time to watch some random game footage (not highlights) you will get it.
yeah well

Rodman's "ANTICS" with the Lakers IS LITERALLY the same as when he was with Chicago "AND" the Spurs
the only difference was that Chicago (Phil and Michael) worked with what they got with Dennis
while the Lakers and Spurs "complained"
Phil and Michael knew how to utilize Dennis, and they recognized what he brought to the team. likewise Rodman respected Michael. Rodman was a wildcard for sure but give him some space and get his respect and he'll hustle like no one else for you.

1x Champ 1x FMVP 3xMVP
8x Champ 1x FMVP (likely 4x)
19. Giannis Antetokounmpo - it’s getting freaky… GreekMan is literally on the ride to potentially threatening Tim’s best PF title.
If he can add a couple more rings to his already HOF profile he will likely be the new PF or TOP 5 player. Yea. THAT GOOD.
1x Champ 1x FMVP 2x MVP 1x DPOY
20. Jerry West - The LOGO. Steph Curry before Steph. The man that built the LA franchise along Baylor post Mikan era.
Jerry West was the blueprint skill base for players like Kobe, MJ, TMac, etc
At 6’2-6’3 he torched his opponents his entire career and dropped plenty of dimes.
The ORIGINAL combo guard. So damn great he LOST and still won FMVP… case closed.
1x Champ 1x FMVP
1x MVP 1x FMVP 3x MVP (should’ve been 3 consecutive but you know
22. Rick Barry - The ACTUAL “White Mamba”. Just predated the black one… Barry was the answer up until 85’ when you asked who the best SF ever. His game was similar to West but 6’7 and a better FT%. Controversial, cerebral and iconic.
Had so much game he had to share what was left with his sons…
1x Champ 1x FMVP
1x Champ 1x FMVP 1x MVP
1x Champ 1x FMVP 1x MVP
1x Champ 1x FMVP 2x MVP
3x Champ 1x FMVP
27. Elgin Baylor - The PROTOTYPE.
Before West, Julius, Thompson, Wilkins, MJ, Hardaway, Kobe, Carter, TMac, Wade, Ant etc
There was Elgin Baylor. The first Air, the first Mamba, the first Half Man/Amazing, Flash etc
Baylor spearheaded an era that hardly wanted his talents there but had no other choice but to be in awe of it.
Think Harden, in shape but not as good of a playmaker, twice the rebounder and a better defender.
That’s Elgin.
*left a season before historic LAL title win
2x Champ 1x MVP
29. Karl Malone - the Mailman was LBJ minus the handles and vision.
King of the pick n roll.
1x MVP
30. Charles Barkley - The Round Mound of Rebound was the Tasmanian devil in a basketball jersey.
Prime 25 5 13 guy.
Impact everywhere he went.
OG DREAMTEAM member by the way…
1x MVP
30 (?) Clyde Drexler - The Glide. One of the most useful all around talents in nba history. One of the greatest two way players ever. Helped every squad he went to become a contender.
1x Champ
* HONORABLE MENTION:
McHale, Nash, Harden, Parker, CP3, Stockton, Walton, Payton, Westbrook, Drexler, Ewing, Sam Jones, Cousy, Pierce, Iverson, McAdoo, Frazier, Unsled, Reed, Webber, English, A. Davis
^GIVE HONEST FEEDBACK CRITIQUE ATTEMPTING A PERFECT TOP30 list
I think my critique would be that I try to make a goat list based on who was the most dominant in their era. And so there's basically five and you can make the argument that six eras throughout 10 years spans that start either from the 60s or 70s is a great way of of making a goat list because of so many different circumstances that cannot be applied to each in particular era. So my list or my top five would look something like this.
1. Jordan 1990-2000
2. Kobe 2000-2010
3. LeBron 2010-2020
4. Kareem or Magic 1970-1990
5. Russell 1960-1970
From looking at your list I could give a few critiques for example you have Magic in the right spot but I don't think he's better than Kobe or Lebron because Magic was nowhere near the defender that those guys were.
1. Factor individual play/skill & accomplishments
2. Career scope or story + accolades
3. Compared to position (ALLTIME)
4. Compare to peers (ALLTIME)
5. Overall impact on NBA/basketball
MJ is and always will be my GOAT
Only stat that matters is W/L ratio, all other stats that doesn’t result higher W/L ratio does it matter ?
Damn MJ called the lebron fan boys 20 years ago and the Kobe and Kareem hate
I do believe both the GM and owner of Chicago would had gotten someone to fill that hole in center. Those guys got some pretty great players to surround MJ.
Kobe Bryant is closed to Michael Jordan level 💯👍🏿👌🏿
As far as aesthetics, moves, and play style. The only thing Kobe had better than MJ was range.
MJ was more efficient and artistic.
Kobe is close to older Jordan 96-98. Kobe never approached prime Jordan 84-93. No none has.
@@snakebitten6967I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Young Jordan was a unicorn and Kobe learned a lot from Seasoned Jordan that he could properly emulate.
this vid came out less than 30 seconds ago but i aint gonna say first cause like 5 other people are gonna say it
I actually think you were first!... other than the nasty bots that I always have to delete. lol
MJ just want to dominate his era the 90's!
❤💥
Legend has it that MJ created God and all creations
🎉❤

Yes
Happy Friday!
The f were you thinking with those loud jarring beeps and boops? I fell alseep and woke up to thinking it was an emergency alert or God knows what.

I think he would've won it in 94, but not 95. Rockets with Drexler.
I hope today is a great day!❤
I think it would have gone 7 games with the rockets. Bulls in 7
Happy Wednesday!
It is possible the blocks jordan take and get possession can be count to as steal
When you blocked and the ball went away lets say the ball.went out of bounds...it is blocked
But when you blocked a shot and you take the possession, it can be considered block and steal
And jordan has numerous of that
And..... a shooting foul and the ball went in... the play is called AND 1
BUT when you blocked the shot even if the there is a foul prior, it is consider blocked
Blocks that turn to be your team possessions csn be considered steal
Why do people act like bill Russell don’t got the most rings bill Russell is the goat
2:40 is all anyone should really care about when they want to be known as the best in their sport.
He does none of this without SCOTTIE PIPPEN. Yal act like it was 1vs5
0:48:00 you mention the 4 teams he would most likely join and i cant disagree
however its more interesting to think of the teams where he would fit and make em champions
like for example Spurs , you cant tell me jordan and duncan wouldnt have chance against shaq and kobe
it would be bloodbath .
the other awesome team he would find instant fit in and make em possible champions are Sacramento Kings
Bibby divac webber and jordan ? cmon !
the 3rd and final one would be 76ers . this one is because maybe MJ could have huge influence on AI . and ai being best
player at the time - you never know how this could develop . maybe they would hate each other or maybe mj would have huge impact on
his career , and we would now argue why AI is the best player ever ...
What about 1998, 1999 the year the New York made it to the finals and the year the San antonio won the championship it think they would won there 8, or 9 ring ❤❤
AGAIN! If the player block and keep the ball in the possession? Should that be counted as a BLOCK + STEAL!? 😮
Nope, that’s a Block and a Rebound. It’s considered a missed shot, meaning the person who gathers it gets the rebound.
THING IS. Playing.
Rodman should of won MVP vs Seattle. YES, it is true.
Jordan should have won more MVPs and DPOYs at least 2 more of each
Not with a 7.5ppg . As invaluable Rodman was, especially on the offensive glass, you’ll never get a finals mvp with those scoring numbers.
The final votes for the finals MVP was fairly in line with who the best players were (IMO):
1. Jordan
2. Kemp
3. Rodman

Lebron >>>>>> Jordan by a huge margin
NBA sleep 2020
Larry Bird hurt his back, Len Bias and Reggie Lewis passed. Hot take, but MJs legacy is lucky that the Celtics had bad luck in the 90s.
@@bolder2009Very well said! Going by actual facts.
@@bolder2009Actually, I'm kind of glad that Michael didn't follow Phil to the Lakers. Not a fan of player made superteams.
Watched the first but couldn’t get through it because of the shade thrown throughout you don’t have to be the voice of defense for the older era you trolling the new era takes away from your videos imo just because the younger generation trolls don’t mean you should partake in the circus
Am I on an UnCut/Skap/DreamersPro/AOH video or Jonny Arnett? Can't even tell anymore. Selling out for clicks of the Jordashians, how sad it is.
Why you acting like pro-Jordan content is something new on this channel? I’ve been doing this for 6 years, and suddenly you’re mad?? 🤣
Cmon now brother
so you didn't understand anything.... ok

Your mind is LeMedia rotted. You won’t ever understand anything outside the LeEra.
MJ’s the GOAT. Stop wasting your time creating your BS videos.
This video is full of lies 😂
Example: he joined the wizards as a stipulation to acquire the team..he had to play there b4 they sold it to him.
Its 5v5 not 1v5.
jordan is just a stat padder
the first 55 seconds of the video just debunks this affirmation
@NEOQEAVCS2 these bron maniacs just like to troll and spam MJ videos. they dont even watch anything 😂
