This is war. This house belonged to someone, who grew up there and struggled to keep this place as a welcoming home. Even if the residents survived, their whole life was destroyed, all their belongings and a place to live were lost. Imagine if this was your house. If you were suddenly told that you can not live there any more, and if you are lucky and have a place to move then fine, if not, you are homeless.
And this is not a fire or another disaster like that where you might have insurance and get financial support. In a war the states are devastated and most probably there will be no compensation to them.
And all this suffering of the common people, just because of power and influence games played by the governments, the fight for money and geopoliltical control. As it has always been throughout history...
The cost of demolition alone will prevent those families from returning. Those structures will have to be torn down and carted away before rebuilding. No insurance company will cover lose due to acts of war.
i can guarantee you that the regular everyday people of any country are absolutely pissed when their leaders sword rattle with other nations. unless you are raised by a blatant idology like north korean style communism or iranian islam then you most likely just want to live in peace, the common people of the united states, the common people of russia and the common people of this region featured in the video all just want to live in peace with no war. why cant we just let people be people regardless of race, ethinicity, religion, sex, gender or creed? you thought the world would have learned from the holocost and world war 2 but nope.
It is not just North Korea or Iran. There are still enough soldiers to raise army, who are willing to fight in foreign lands for their countries interests. American troops fight in Iraq, Russian troops in Syria and so on. You don't need all the people to support you, you just need enough soldiers to agree to fight an attacking war far away from your borders, instead of just only defending the country's territory.
This comment resonates even more than ever, these politicians still have the power to manipulate everything about our lives... If you ask me all power should be decentralized among the people... But I don't how we would do that.

This is due to the fact that during USSR times this became a *heavily industrialized area of Ukraine,* such that *many Russians moved there to work in the factories, and remain there to this day.*

Actually, Ukraine is only 27 y.o. It was a part of Russia for centuries before the USSR. Soviets made it a separate republic. Ukrainian nationality as a separate nationality was also promoted by Soviets.

If only the separatists had done a PEACEFUL transition to be a separate nation. The way they went about it was all wrong.... you can't justify it and say that was the way to do it. The way they did it would make ANY government consider them a foreign invader that is attempting to capture territory from the nation of Ukraine. Ukraine responded and tried to drive them out. I know they were mad...I know they did not like what was happening....but they really should have gone about it a better way. A peaceful way. Instead of doing that, they armed themselves and started capturing buildings and cities with violence. Ousting the local governments. They did this because some of the people wanted out....but they didn't care what the other citizens wanted. In their minds, if you didn't want to be an independent nation....then you can leave. Move further west into Ukraine. Well....that's just not right. You can't do that. You should allow the local government to be in contact with the national government....and then hold a real legit vote on independence. Tell everyone there will be a vote in 30 days...to see if their region wanted to secede from the country of Ukraine and be independent. Make sure EVERYONE in that region has been told of the vote...I don't care if you have to manually take letters door by door to inform everyone of the upcoming vote in the next 30 days...it should have been done that way. If the vote succeeds, then you give everyone citizenship to the new nations as well as give them the opportunity to leave the new nation if they wanted to. If the vote had failed, everyone is still welcome to stay in Ukraine...if they are upset that they lost...they were more than welcome to move to Russian territory. But the separatists did not do anything democratically did they....? It was either their way or no way.... I don't care how you spin it or try and justify it....the separatists were in the wrong, Russia was in the wrong by sending in troops, Russia was in the wrong for coming into the country at all, everything they did was WRONG and not how a free country handles problems. I'm just sad that so many people are having to needlessly die because of the dumbass people seriously not doing things the right way.... so many families destroyed, so many murders, so many deaths. So much destruction...so much suffering...all for nothing. All because one man wants to bully Europe. It's so sad..... so many will suffer....Ukrainians, DPR, LPR, and Russians....all of them suffering for absolutely nothing...

What drove me to write the original post? We have experienced "help" from russia twice in the past century. As we speak, there is a lot of russian propaganda going on in my country, it is not even funny (and so as in all the V4 countries) which tries to picture west as an enemy - again, and russia as an alternative - again. Russia is THE country thats borders and influence is expanding toward west - again. We have been there twice, we learned the hard way how russia acts toward their "friends". I dont mind Russia, if you want to fuck up your country again, do it for yourself and stay where you are, dont involve other countries into your politics. I am pretty sure that baltics are more glad that they are part of NATO, than ever before. Ukraine on the other hand would be glad as well, before this shitstorm started.
And west pictures Russia as an enemy on its hand. 30 years ago you had Soviet tanks, today you have NATO tanks based in your country. Countries like Baltics, always look into someones mouth. Western alliance today rules the world's economy and of course it is a lot warmer under their wing. That's why you are happy about NATO. Russia makes it own way for centuries and one day it will restore its own economy, wealth, etc., but you will always look for the owner who feeds you better.

So Putins actions, as you say, were "to stop an deadly war already destabilizing the whole region". And murica's bombs on Belgrad weren't more peaceful compared to bombs on Grozny.
