Thanks mate! Subbed!
I have a 1.3 VTX and the RMRC tuned antenna and their 1.3 Receiver and I even did a very similar 5.8 link...I just haven't pulled the trigger on the tracker setup. Would love to have the Arkbird setup you have. Look forward to seeing video from the ARpro soon!
Thanks, the arkbird setup is similar to the old MFD antenna tracker. It works pretty well, but I don't think it's available new anymore.
MFD have a new antenna tracker, which isn't too expensive compared to the old version, and it can use MAVLINK telemetry from a flight controller instead of a dedicated module on the aircraft like I have to use.
ARpro will be flying as soon as I can get it finished and the weather starts playing ball 😁
Good Work
Thank you. I no longer use this anymore as I've since moved over to DJI digital fpv 👍🏻
Very nice setup! I had one similar to yours a year ago and I miss the thing already. Miss flying across town and such!!! I was using a crosshair antenna and a VAS mushroom with eagle eyes diversity. I like yours though because it's like an update version of my old one! Question.....why not use a FatShark repeater to shoot the 5.8 to your head set?
Thanks 👍🏻
I don't have a fatshark repeater, but I did have a spare vtx so I just made my own.
Does the fat shark repeater need soldier?
Nice ground station, looks good!!. is the tracking by telemetry or video GPS? like MDF tracking.
Thank you. Yes it's just like the MFD, the GPS data is encoded into the video signal 👍🏻
Just started using Crossfire on my Cruiser Quads running 1.2g video...I have noticed a little interference, maybe I need a notch filter. One of the most notable things about Crossfire, is that it runs at low RF power levels and yet goes for miles...The new LQ/Mode/ and RF in OSD in iNAV is fantastic for watching your control link...Very impressed with Crossfire. My R9M is in the bin...🤔😀🇬🇧
Absolutely, I'm so happy with the new crossfire stats in the OSD elements too, I haven't actually flown with them on yet... previously I was using the old "RSSI" osd element, and telling iNav which channel my LQ was on.
I think yes, for sure get the notch filter, always a good idea to give your video signal the best chance eh?
@@grim-upnorth Check out my latest post as I Maiden flight my Croc...Bearing in mind the dipoles are horizontal, watch the speed CRSF compensates as the null points show themselves..Amazing TBH...🤔🤔😳😳😀🇬🇧 Do you have a link to that filter?
It’s because it’s a licensed ham radio band so you would have higher power radios operating on the same frequency. Once you move up to 1.3g it clears up.
@@kishascape Wrong, the 686mhz control transmitter can step on the recieved video signal on 1280mhz due to side banding. Despite the video signal receiver being some metres away...This is the cause, not Ham radio signals....🤔😳🇬🇧
Liked and subbed.
Thanks 😊
Hey mate really nice setup, how is the Matek RX go, I was going to get one for mine but watched Adams video with a side by side comparison with the Matek RX and RMRC RX and he didn't get out much further then 1.7kms with the Matek one using clover leaf antennas on both.
Maybe it will be better with that patch you have.
Thanks mate, I've watched Adam's video too. I'm hoping that with the x-air antenna and the notch filter, I should be able to get further than him with the same matek vrx. 🤔
If not I'll just keep an eye out for rmrc to get more receivers in stock 👍🏻
great setup...what sort of range do you get with 1.3? antenna you use? and mw.. Cheers!
I've only actually been around 8km, but had perfect picture the whole way.
For me, although this is potentially capable of letting me fly tens of kilometers, the point is that I can fly as far as I "normally" would, with absolutely zero chance of losing video.
It's the same reason I use crossfire, not because I want to fly 40km from home, but because by using something that CAN go 40km, when I'm closer than 10km I'll never need to worry about failsafes.
@@grim-upnorth makes sense, thx
do you think this could be modified for the dji 03 system? sick setup btw!
I'm not sure you could have the O3 system in this setup. thanks
May I ask how the Matek 1.3Ghz receiver is going for you? I tried one on my ground station (same antenna as yours) and at 2+ km I started getting awful reception. Swapped the receiver for a Partom one and last week hit 8.5km with a perfect image.
Since building this, I've actually replaced the receiver with a ReadymadeRC receiver. I never used the matek one for any flying, just testing on the bench. Thanks 👍
@@grim-upnorth The partom are identical insides - cool
That Matek reciever is low quality, get the readymade rc made in good ole USA
Good job but what’s the easiest way on getting the 5.8ghz to get relayed to the 1.3ghz receiver? I see you have it but what are those components you got hooked to it? Im trying to do this on my Rc truck but I don’t know how to get relay
What is that av white cable hooked to ?
@@gpgp1750 hi thanks for watching. The white av cable goes to a device I built. Inside the device is a MATEK 40CH VTX, a power distribution board and a small fan to keep it cool. There's a link to the VTX in the video description 👍🏻
@@grim-upnorth ok
Which one do you think is better, TrueRC X-AIR 1.3GHz or VAS Crosshair XTreme V2 1.3GHz?
I have a friend who's tried both of these and the difference in performance is not noticeable at the kind of range we fly at these days. If you want to know which of those two antennas - all other components being identical - gets you the best picture at the furthest range, I'm afraid I wouldn't know.
I've only ever flown max 8km, but had a perfect picture the entire way out and back. For me, I don't use 1.3 for outright range, but instead to give me an excellent image within 5-10km. Sure you can fly further than 10km on 5.8 but that band is more prone to interference and is easily blocked by trees and other greenery. I like to think of the range 1.3 can offer, as a safety net. I never intend on finding the limit of my 1.3 gear.
Thanks.
Hi. Do you still have this and use it. Have you been out further then 9km yet. Also would you sell it if you don’t use it. Or is it fairly easy to make one. Not sure where abouts you are but I am in the uk. Thanks
Hi, no I no longer have this tracker. I sold it some time ago.
@@grim-upnorth no problem. Would you suggest any trackers to get and what set up. I would like to be able to use 1.3 and 5.8 on it ideally and go out 10-20km.
@@ttucker2073 Unfortunately, I've been out of the game for a while and I'm not sure of the best if any, tracker to suggest. I use digital DJI FPV now, which is capable of 10km+ without a tracker, I just make sure there's clear LOS between my goggles and the aircraft.
0:08 isn't the TrueRC X-AIR 1.3 a crosshair antenna?
Yes it is, I mistakenly use the word patch in this video.
What tracker did you use?
It was an Arkbird Auto antenna tracker
I can’t find that x-air anywhere online

Hi I have notch filter installed but still I have video interference. I’m using tbscrossfire 915
Are you certain the interference is coming from your crossfire system? Does the interference get worse if you place the crossfire transmitter near the receiver?
@@grim-upnorth yes it’s flactuating
@@grim-upnorth yes. Do you have any idea to eliminate the interference?
@@datumotion1448 did you figure it out?
And imagine how much latency he has
It's all analogue, the biggest latency will be coming from the camera to the VTX on the plane. From the VTX, through this relay and to my goggles has negligble latency.
Saying that, I no longer have this setup, I sold it to someone who will actually fly long distance with it.
I'm on DJI digital now as I only ever fly within a few km these days.
How far you can reach?
I've been 9km with crystal clear video, only reason I hadn't gone further was due to the flying location. I'm not really about doing really long range, but instead being able to fly close/medium range but with perfect control and video link for a safer flight 👍🏻 thank you
Id like to ask if its possible to make like a tower antena on my roof and fly it from my house?
Probably, if you have the space around your home to fly then having the antenna up high on your roof would be a good place to have it.
@@grim-upnorth no I want to fly it outside ,but its freeezing cold here and I have a nice mountain view, soo Im thinking if I could put an antena like yours up my roof and extend the wires to my room soo I can fly it peacfully
@@grim-upnorth would that cause delay or lagg?
@@grim-upnorth you have a nice setup congrats to building that
@@illyricvmnostrvm7703 Ah no, sorry when I said around your home I meant to say outside, the open space surrounding your home. Like if you live in the countryside for example.
hi, can you use 1.3ghz with tbs crossfire 868?
Absolutely yes, this is me doing exactly that... ruclips.net/video/XZad_R2hKko/видео.html
@@grim-upnorth what benefits of 1.3 to 5.8?
@@Chris-vc1dh in my personal experience, 1.3g gives me a good quality image at longer range for the same power VTX. 1.3g with omnidirectional antenna at both ends can get you a good picture to around 7-9km on 800mw. 5.8g needs relatively expensive directional patch or crosshair antennas at same power levels to get comparable range.
5.8 is fine if you have high power vtx and fancy antenna on receive equipment. But I find 1.3 gives decent usable range without complicated setups or extra expense. My personal best is 9km on 1.3 with the stock "sick" antennas the equipment came with
Hi I’m just curious what if you use 5.8 antenna to 1.3 vrx. Is it possible?
You would get a really bad signal, if any at all.
sorry, name of tracker?
This one is the Arkbird Automatic Antenna Tracker 👍🏻
has link to stl of vtx and vrx box
Sorry no. They were just test prints
