An emergency pod is called as Lord Mike Tindall summons Jonathan "Fox" Davies to react to the huge news of Owen Farrell's red card being overturned.
Earlier in the week our dynamic duo met up in Wales with Head Coach Warren Gatland who is set to name his Rugby World Cup squad for France RWC 2023.
It’s been a turbulent year for Wales with injuries, retirements and off field politics. However, there is optimism in the air following the World Cup warm-ups v England.

I'm English, and a big fan of Farrell, and was disappointed it was rescinded.
Carriers height barely changes, Farrells arm is tucked - which is a foul, so mitigation should not apply. Should be a red.

I think for me even without the George attempt at tackling Basham, Farrell at no point tried to lower his body position and make a legal tackle. He has history with his poor tackling at times, how much longer before one of his hits ends up causing a serious injury which results in the injured player having to leave the game.

The fact that you think it was the ball that made OF's tackle on Esterhuizen a problem reflects that you haven't watched it recently. In slow mo you can see his shoulder hits above the ball. In real speed it is an obvious 6 match ban. There is a lot of English people acknowledging the problem with this decision to rescind the red card, but gaslighting themselves with the odd caveat here or there. This was disgraceful show of either favouritism or incompetence. Maybe both. The law should stand flat, unerring and simple in its application with no world cups or otherwise being a factor. End of.

Since then I have watched numerous clips and now believe it should be a red. Farrell was never low enough to make the tackle and it was clear that he was going to go in to tackle. Yes, George did have an effect but Farrell never wrapped an arm, had his arm tucked and made straight contact with the head. WR corresponds with coaches and refs on players they see with bad technique in any area and warn they will get picked up sooner or later. The eng coach has had that correspondence, and and they've been made aware of the technical issue Farrell has. Even the more lenient officials in the IRB know that's a red card. The very next week he did the same thing against OZ, and should have been a penalty try and yellow card.
He's a terrible tackler. Given his repeated offences, he's like Lavinini at this point. Guy needs a lengthy ban potentially spending the next 2-3 months learning how to tackle from a high-school coach again. The fact that he's gotten away with it for this long is a disgrace to the RFU, and his bans how should be in the terms of months, not weeks.

1)- when parents now refuse to let their children play, because they see that the establishment will not prioritise player welfare,(RFU, IRFU, IndependentPanel,,, it matters not: parents will not differentiate!), parents will act to protect their children.
Then the game suffers, and Owen Farrell is responsible.
Own the result, own the consequences!
    2) - Owen Farrell needs to own this as a cheat. He employed the Kings Council to advocate on his behalf and owns both the outcome AND the consequences! In its most perverse (money and privilege) he has engineered an outcome that is based NOT on the game we watch, but the GAME of Lawyers and Barristers.
The moral thing for FARRELL to do, plead guilty, take your punishment ask for mitigation!
Like Sarries (refuse to open their books) cheats, cheats, cheats!
    - for me -
Owen Farrell unless YOU speak up and ask for it to be reviewed as a wrong decision, you are now a cheat! Pure and simple!
    Owen Farrell the cheat.
And it matters not, that you climb out of the gutter! The shit is still on your shoes!
And there we were thinking we were ADVANCING the game with TMO's, man in the bunker, 10 mins to make the final decision, etc etc.
I've never heard such Bolshy Ollox as came from the independent panel - stating there was no criticism of the TMO.
Read the book MIXED SIGNALS and understand how fcuked up this decision was! Mixed signals - ask the TMO (when he retires), if he thinks its not a criticism! So going forward, where does this leave safety in the game? Shocking!
Dealing with peoples lives, the dangers of impacts, and the SYSTEMS protecting them has GOT TO BE outside of the influence of the narrow views of selfish players and their game playing overpaid upper-class Barristers!
I speak as I find, and do my own analysis! Farrell - you're a CHEAT! Own it! Leaves a nasty taste in your mouth!

A clearer example of a corrupt system has never been so clearly demonstrated.
The "another tackler caused a sudden and significant change" defence is bullshit. You only have to look back at Leitchs ban to see it. He got a 3 game ban AND the other tackling player actually affected the tackle situation.
    Disgraceful.

No longer defending his 'just stands tall technique' like you were after his red card against Wasps Tindall? and blaming other people for "perceiving how he tackles as incorrect". He's done it in so many games now you just have to accept, he knows exactly what he's doing. Also, his shoulder went directly into the face, most of the impact did not go through the ball, his shoulder went directly to the head and his lower arm hit the ball, still talking sh#te.

  • @kahuna3901
    @kahuna3901 Год назад

It's red every day of the week. How do we know that? Farrell was previously banned for the same offence. He's a repeat offender, his ban should probably have been 6 weeks, but i think in the spirit of the game it could have been mitigated to 3 weeks, specially considering Jamie George interaction. However tbh, repeat offender, no attempt to go low, no attempt to wrap, tucking in right arm and leading with the shoulder, in all fairness of the game i'd say a several week ban is completely in order.

  • @brianonuanain7535

Sexton got 6 weeks, reduced to 3 because this was a first offense. Also, the game was over and he wasn't even playing in that game. Not fair to compare that with Hartley.
Farrell's record on tackling is hardly exemplary, so Sexton's case is not comparable.

  • @ciaranbrk

Hartley had a disgraceful record sexton didn’t that’s why his punishment was lighter and sexton was after the game off microphone criticism of a ref not when the game was recording everything. Dylan Hartley and Johnny sexton are not the same thing.

These guys defending the "individual"(the offender) getting stick from social media is very poor. This is not a first offender, this is a very very serial offender that had to do remedial training just in january this year. Media plays the soft view of the impact so many times that people forget the front view where he completely cleans his clock. Unfortunately if it was a softer player that had to go off for an HIA from that head whiplash Farrel might have got what he deserves.
