Thank you so much for doing this! I love that you post the ingredient decks of the products. It really helps me start to understand what I need to be looking for. I am always intrigued by the popularity of Elemis. Every time I have purchased any of those products I have had to return them all because they are simply just too perfumed - who knew I would be so sensitive to that!
Yep, most of them are too fragranced for most people. I am ok with it sometimes….but some of them are too strong for me too. Kind of sad bc otherwise they’re great products!

I love, love, love how you teach! Thank you for expounding on the different skincare items and for offering affordable substitutes, as the cost of many things have been going up. You really help make things approachable when they can be intimidating.
I just discovered your channel (through Leah’s channel) and I feel like I came to a library and wan to flip over everything; besides your knowledge, the way you explain and your voice pitch gets us hooked ☺️
The liquid gold has alcohol second ingredient, I hear it’s bad always. Is it all that bad ? Does it damage the skin ? Your a professional so I want to know what you have to say about it. Since you have used it and your skin is fine. Thanks
This was a great video! I love the fact that there are affordable options and value your recommendations. Please continue to do reviews of skincare for 40+ year olds.
I love your videos you are a true professional, please continue analyzing other people's rutine and let us know of a comparable product but much more affordable. Thank you again.
Love this idea & think it would make a great series for your channel. I would also love to see you do a dedicated Gua Sha video (like a tutorial) that we could follow along. 🙂
What a great presentation! I love the side by side ingredient comparisons (which I do myself on paper…)! I am also an Elemis Cleansing Balm fan, the rose version-smells So lovely and it really does last a long time : ) also their Superfood Facial Oil for gua sha. My dermatologist sold me Revision Nectifirm when I commented on how great her neck looked.
Speaking of a sensory experience in the cleansing step, Ive tried several Elemis products in trial sizes and the fragrance was SO overpowering and turned me off. I couldn’t even reuse the cleansing balm jar after cleaning it out because the fragrance never dissipated.
The supergoop unseen sunscreen is clear and has a dimethicone base which makes it an awesome primer. It lasted me much longer than I expected so definitely worth my $$
Thank you for this video!! I actually watched Hannah Waddingham’s skincare video a while back and wondered which one of my kids I’d have to sell to afford the Elemis products. I’m going to pick up some of these alternatives.
Very GREAT job, dear Penny! You come across as so very sincere & honest... attributes not found in most skin care vids. Thank you for your wonderful work... I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors. 🌹
Hi Penny I was wondering if you would do a video on severely dry skin. Normal facial moisturisers aimed at dry skin. just don't do enough at night on my skin and I normally reach for a face and body cream eg LRP Lipikar baby AP+M. If I don't use something very occlusive and super thick my skin is PARCHED in the morning. Normal night creams work as day creams for me usually, under spf and makeup - they're just not enough at night. I don't think most people without severe dryness understand how tight skin can be, when you have stopped producing any sebum at all. I'm menopausal with rosacea and eczema, so my skin is also ultra sensitive. I do have a layered routine at night with hydrating toners, essence, retinaldehyde, hydrating serums and an oil before moisturising. In the Winter during the day I can wear a layer of cicaplast under spf/makeup if I allow 15 mins for it to soak in (amping up my day cream to cope with the cold weather). Most people reading this will be amazed my spf and makeup aren't sliding around everywhere, but my skin soaks everything in as it's so dry. I drink plenty of fluids, but my skin has an impaired barrier function, as part of the rosacea/eczema disease process. I'm lucky that I know enough about skincare to be able to find products that work for me and I can decode an INCI list on my own, but there may be many of your viewers who are struggling. This kind of atopic severely dry skin is almost another skin type, as it has such different needs to more normally dry skin. Best wishes. ps my much loved skinceuticals mineral spf50 lotion functions really well as a makeup primer. It has a lot of isododocane in the formulation giving it that primer like feel. x
Amazing tips on some great products Penn!! However, I literally had to stop the video and say, what???!!! When you said you are 47😱😲 I truly thought you were around 35, you look positively incredible!!!💕
Ok….I use the Evy SPF 30 or 50 all the time and OMG. Best sunscreen of LIFE. I just wish it was easier to get in the US. I always hesitate to talk about it bc of that. But I completely agree!
I am so glad I found your videos, well I have seen you come up ( because I watch a lot of DIY people, and skincare reviews ) and I think I might have watched a video of yours a while ago, but never watched your skincare stuff. This is awesome! I bought some of the products you suggested that are cheaper. I'm trying to find a good skincare routine. You videos are great.
Love allllllll the knowledge you drop! Just priceless! BTW is there a “best” way to apply a toner or essence? Skincare products can be quite expensive, and cotton pads/rounds tend to absorb so much of the product.
This is an awesome video! Thank you for taking the time to make it. I love skincare and taking care of my skin but I don’t have a celebrity budget nor would I want to spend that much on skincare if I did. So thank you!!❤️
Really love this new video. This is a very brilliant and unique way to do your affordable alternatives videos. I hope you continue to do these. If so, I would love to know Jennifer Anniston’s routine. Thank you so much for your content!!
This was SO MUCH FUN!!! First of all, she is GORGEOUS, and I'm a sucker for English beauty--women from GB have such lovely skin. But UGH, with the comment, "it smells so good!"--which to me means fragrance which I NEVER want in my skincare. Hey, I discovered a wonderful cleansing balm, Heimish, it's my favorite balm I've tried so far (recommended this in your skincare community along with the Alpha-H midnight reboot serum--FANTASTIC!). And what's not to love about the SubQ serum? The ingredients are epic--it's one of my mainstays (I always have one on backup). As always I have wish-listed a few more items and thoroughly enjoyed this, Penny!
Thanks Penny, brilliant video and great suggestions. Hannah is an attractive woman for sure, but for being in her mid 40’s she’s got pretty many wrinkles and lines. Maybe she wasn’t always into skincare or sunscreen, who knows. Her face does appear to be all natural though, so good for her for embracing getting older & not turning herself into a plastic surgery freak. Just ordered the Drmtlgy Peptide Cream. Excited to try it!
Penn we cant easily get dermtlgy in the UK its soo expensive and not readily available. If you want UK affiliate pls can you check for some European options. Please x
It’s a little past 5 am here and I just love being lulled by your voice, LOL! Lately my overused word is: seriously. Not sure why? Either way Penn, you are fantabulous!
Thank you! I need to let her in before I start-she is my shadow and I forget and close the door….if she’s left to get a drink etc she’s out of luck lol Such a good little pup 🥰
Hello penny elta md sunscreen clear is a great product but just doesn't last me long enough at 76 dollars plus postage here in Australia it's to expensive iv swapped over to makeprem physical sunscreen 50 .30 dollars for 50 mills I brought two to last me threw this summer 😎👌
I love these not just for saving money but because they’re fun😊 . I always feel comfortable picking up one of your recommendations because I know you’ve already checked it out. Currently trying the Reviv serum. I’ve mostly picked up the more inexpensive stuff before though and was so happy with the results that I felt like this was worth giving a shot. Discovered Good Molecules because of your videos and a couple of their things have hit my can’t live without list 😁thanks for all the work you put into these!
Cleansing balms, I have had them all and I can honestly say that good old cheap Ponds Cold Cream stands up as the best ever, without a doubt, my skin is feels so soft and clean afterwards!
I was surprised when she used a face oil so soon into her face care. I always use it as one of my last steps and I use the good molecules oil. Also couldn’t agree more with not paying so much for cleansing balm! I do use the Alpha liquid gold but I do put a moisturiser over the top. I wld definitely add a vitamin A cream I use prescription strength. I’d also add a humectant. My night time routine can be lengthy 😂 but I love it!
Thank you Penn! Great video. You've done all the homework for us! Can you please highlight the products that would be suitable for younger people in their 20s (who are budget conscious). Cheers.
This is amazing - thank you! I just watched Elle McPherson use the Barbara Sturm serum also - I can't spend that so thank you very much for the dupe. Please do more!
I feel I have to do a double cleanse to remove my sunscreen (as well my makeup). I have tried the Elemis cleansing balm and it is more of a sensory experience for me ... but for the last 2 years I have been using the Heimish cleansing balm and it is lovely. So effective and it lasts forever. Another great video Penny. ❤
Oh yes, Heimish is another fave! I’m out of that one and need another balm like a hole in the head so I’ll wait 😬 to buy it lol. Happy Saturday Suzy ♥️
What an awesome video! You need to do more of these! I find both the Elta and the Drmtlgy Tinted Moisturizer sticky on my face. :( Maybe because I live in Miami, FL and it's always so dang humid here? I try different sunscreens all the time and always come back to my Australian Gold Tinted 50SPF, it's the only one that's silky on my face, and I feel really stays on until I cleanse. Plus I don't need to wear foundation, which I HATE wearing.
I need to give that one another try. I think I grabbed the wrong color (I think it comes in 2 shades). Florida is like another planet when it comes to humidity!! But I love FL ♥️ I have tons of family there and I always think my skin is so happy when I’m there 🥰 Happy Sunday!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE it does come in two shades now, the fair/light i find is the closest shade to the original version, when it was just a universal shade. Been using it for a long time!
Love this thanks so much. Could watch this type of series all day. Wish could get some of the products that you mention from Drmtolgy here in Australia but unfortunately no. I also love the Heimish cleansing balm. Tried the Banila one but it hurt my eyes. Have tried so many of the oil cleansers you recommended as well. Thanks. Look forward to the next one. Would be good if we knew what procedures they had had done as well.....hehe. 🤣😂
Wow! I love this video! I was needing few products and here I have the answers! By the way you look so much younger than her I mean she’s gorgeous too but wow you look so young ! I am 46 I am trying to take care of my skin for the last 2 years but oh boy your skin is amazing!! Love you Penny!
You’re too kind! To be fair-she says she does no interventions-no Botox, filler, surgery etc. I on the other hand have done plenty of interventions 😆 I hope you’re having a wonderful wonderful so far Judy ♥️♥️♥️
I own the Charlotte Tilbury night cream. I dislike it and choose my Derma-E and also the DeFenage creams over it (and even Vaseline Intensive unfragranced Moisturizer that I use on my body works very well for my face as well when it needs deep hydration). I know there's alot of hype around the CT cream, however I find it to be wayy too fragranced and *drying* even. So my already dry skin gets irritated by the very fragranced, OILY, yet leaves my face feeling dry. That's my conclusion on the CT night cream upon extensive review....because I REALLY wanted to love it after the expensive price tag dropped on it and all the hype surrounding this cult favorite. Don't see the "magic" around it.🤷♀️🤔😌 I agree with the Alpha-H liquid gold as well. I go between that and Paula's Choice AHA/BHA. 2 different uses, but works great when doing each every other night. The Glow Recipe avocado eye cream is my favorite eye cream even on nights I use my Dermalect Outcrease Retinol Trifecta serum which is safe around my eyes as well. And follow with my Supergoop play sunscreen with sunflower extract. ..my skin really loves that sunscreen so much I've invested in the huge tub of it with the handle and pump on it. 🙂😉
Oh, this is BRILLIANT!!! Best “reaction” type video EVER. I so appreciate your realistic take on skin care. How about Paris Hilton next? Thanks for all you do. Take care❤️
Hi, Penny, I have enjoyed all your videos on skin care. I just ordered the Dr. Pen Ultima 8 and am so excited about getting started on toning and lifting my skin. I am 54 years old and want to up my skin care. Can you recommend a home skincare machine that may have a combo of RF, LED and/or micro current? Just trying to limit having so many devices. Thank you so much and keep up the great work and advice!😊
Love this video thank you for such great product suggestions. I spy that adorable puppy of yours in the window at the end of the video, she is getting so big!!!!!
I love this idea! I honestly hate the scent of the Weleda Skin Food. It may be awesome but I couldn't keep in on due to the scent. I really want to try that CeraVe product now too. I've always overlooked it before because I didn't know how to incorporate it.
Penn, I love your page so much and have been following for a long time, as you probably know! I must say, I don't understand why your thumbnails, the very first thing anyone sees, are edited is such a way that does not advertise your gorgeous skin! I would think that the first thing that you want any client to see is how beautiful it is because that is what we're all looking for; that expert on skincare that has the skin to prove it. I come from 40 years of a photography family :). Just my thoughts that you might find useful.
Thank you for your expertise! Your advice helped me find an alternative for my old products. What are your thoughts on MONAT? Does it compare in quality and value to Skincetuicals and brands alike?
Stop. It. Penn!!!! I had to work today...12 hours, Oncology RN...and I was telling my nurse friends today....OMG this you-tuber I watch has a new video out today and I can't wait to go home and do my nighttime skin routine while I watch you. I get all kind of comments about my skin at work so several of my friends are probably watching you as I write this 😁 Yoi hit this one outta the ballpark as usual 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 LOVED IT!!!!!
Angela, can I just start by THANK YOU for what you do. I can only imagine the stress your job entails ❤️🩹 And thank you for the nicest comment! Honestly, this made me a little 🥲 bc it really means so much to me. I hope you get to relax and put your feet up!! ♥️♥️♥️
This is genius Penny. I really hope you keep doing this. Seriously, a genius idea and it's great for us.
Ahhhh thank you Donna!! ♥️♥️
Thank you so much for doing this! I love that you post the ingredient decks of the products. It really helps me start to understand what I need to be looking for. Yep, most of them are too fragranced for most people.
I am ok with it sometimes….but some of them are too strong for me too.
Kind of sad bc otherwise they’re great products!
I, too, am sooooo sensitive to fragrance in products. I won't buy a product if it has it.
I absolutely love your channel. You’re such an expert and I always feel so relaxed watching your videos while I am getting ready for the day.
Oh my gosh Tiffany! What a sweet comment. Thank you 😊

Thank you so much for sharing Pamela! It was a fun video to make 😁
Thanks Penny, brilliant video and great suggestions.
She does say she does no interventions like Botox/filler/surgery. ♥️
Penn we cant easily get dermtlgy in the UK its soo expensive and not readily available. If you want UK affiliate pls can you check for some European options. Please x
Love this video! It was so helpful! And I love the price comparison at the end.
Thank you Elizabeth! ♥️
Love the puppy looking in the door......Mom let me in!
Absolutely love listening to you and how you teach. Appreciate all you do! Thank you.
Thank you so much Alba! ♥️
You are the best. I listen to you while doing house work LOL. Love all your informative videos
Love these alternative videos, thanks Penn. ❤️
Yay! I’m so glad! ♥️
It’s a little past 5 am here and I just love being lulled by your voice, LOL! Lately my overused word is: seriously. Not sure why? Either way Penn, you are fantabulous!
Thank you Carol ❤️
Great advice and information on alternatives!!
Thank you!
You are so welcome!
What a great video Penny. BTW your dog video bombing you at 23:50 was so funny!!! 🤣
Thank you!
I need to let her in before I start-she is my shadow and I forget and close the door….if she’s left to get a drink etc she’s out of luck lol
Such a good little pup 🥰
Loved this video idea! Please continue on with this series 💜👍
James, I feel like we need an entire video dedicated to Australia! It’s crazy to hear these prices etc!
Thanks for sharing!!
Love this idea for this series of videos!
Penny, you are FANTASTIC! Thank you for all the time and positivity you bring to your tutorials--it's greatly appreciated.
🤣🤣
Fantastic lol
I’m never going to live down that I used that word 8000 times in this video! lol
But thank you ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you Penn love this !
I love your channel. The tips and alternatives you offer is fantastic
Thanks so much!
I love these kind of videos ! Please keep making them !
Ok!
Thank you ❤️
I absolutely love this twist. Thank you
Yay! That makes me so happy! Thank you for being here! ♥️♥️
Such a great video Penny. Great products and a complete nighttime routine.
Cheers.
Great video once again Penny! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Penn, this was a great video. You are so informative!
So glad you liked it 😊
This was so great Penny!! Thank you😘
What a fantastic way to do this. Very fun. I always look forward to your dup's video. They are so informative!! Thank you.
This was truly wonderful! Thank you, Penny!
Thank you Christine! ♥️
This is amazing - thank you! I just watched Elle McPherson use the Barbara Sturm serum also - I can't spend that so thank you very much for the dupe. Please do more!
Excellent video Penny 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
You look stunning!! Your face is glowing! Great idea for a video, too. Thank you 😘
I feel I have to do a double cleanse to remove my sunscreen (as well my makeup).
But I love FL ♥️ I have tons of family there and I always think my skin is so happy when I’m there 🥰
Happy Sunday!
You look so beautiful again 😍I love your hairstyle
Thank you so much!!
Can you talk about the difference between cosmeceutical and cosmetic skin care?
I on the other hand have done plenty of interventions 😆
I hope you’re having a wonderful wonderful so far Judy ♥️♥️♥️
This was so comprehensive and informative, thank you!
Great idea for presenting alternatives. Love The Ted Lasso cast. PS. Looks like your puppy misses you!
I should just leave the door open for her 🤣
Happy Sunday Becky ♥️
Thank you so much, Penny!
Don't see the "magic" around it.🤷♀️🤔😌
I agree with the Alpha-H liquid gold as well. 🙂😉
I need to try some Paula’s choice!! Do you have any other favorites from Paula?
Oh, this is BRILLIANT!!! Best “reaction” type video EVER. I so appreciate your realistic take on skin care.
How about Paris Hilton next?
Thanks for all you do.
Take care❤️
Great suggestion!
Hi, Penny,
I have enjoyed all your videos on skin care.
Penny, do you think you might do a Sephora sale skin care video?
“FANTASTIC” video!! Lol. Thank you!
I love this video. Thank you..
I would love to see these kind all the time as it is fun to see what rich people use for products.
I totally agree with you
Love this video thank you for such great product suggestions. I spy that adorable puppy of yours in the window at the end of the video, she is getting so big!!!!!
Elemis the scent is very strong
Yes! I agree
"Fantastic" video! LOL. This is a great take on commenting on a celeb's skincare routine and providing alternatives.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love your take on this!!
Thank you ♥️♥️
I love this idea!
I love this approach! Thank you Penny!!
Thank you Kim! ♥️
GREAT - really enjoyed this!
Thank you for your expertise! Your advice helped me find an alternative for my old products. What are your thoughts on MONAT? Does it compare in quality and value to Skincetuicals and brands alike?
I discovered Nip Fab glycolic pads which I use 2x week at night and they rock!
Oooh great to know! Thank you! ♥️
Stop. It. Penn!!!! I had to work today...12 hours, Oncology RN...and I was telling my nurse friends today....OMG this you-tuber I watch has a new video out today and I can't wait to go home and do my nighttime skin routine while I watch you. I get all kind of comments about my skin at work so several of my friends are probably watching you as I write this 😁
Yoi hit this one outta the ballpark as usual 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
LOVED IT!!!!!
Angela, can I just start by THANK YOU for what you do. I can only imagine the stress your job entails ❤️🩹
And thank you for the nicest comment! Honestly, this made me a little 🥲 bc it really means so much to me.
I hope you get to relax and put your feet up!! ♥️♥️♥️
