  • A single player playthrough of two "episodes" of Ubisoft's 2008 Nintendo Wii game, The Price is Right.
    Recorded over HDMI from a Nintendo Wii U console.
    It's pretty shocking how convincing of a replica this provides of the original television show, even with the ugly CG contestants.

    Before the 2008 Wii game, a NES version of the iconic TV show was planned by game developer Rare (who was also responsible for adapting Wheel of Fortune, Hollywood Squares, Double Dare and Jeopardy) for GameTek, with David Wise adapting the iconic Edd Kalehoff theme song from the TV show, and it is reported that it was announced in 1987. So no existence has been confirmed besides the cover art of the NES game, because Rare had stopped making video games for GameTek in 1990.

    Interestingly, on the actual episode used for the Showcases in this clip (May 9, 2007), there was also a Double Showcase Winner on the exact same showcase. The stage contestant bid just a dollar higher. It was the final ever DSW with Bob Barker hosting.

    Dude this game is my nostalgia. I remember playing this on an iPhone 4 when I was 4 or 5 and had no idea what anything meant or how anything worked. I wish there was a way to access this vault of childhood and memories back again.

    34:04 (as Bob Barker) Luis, you bid $14,040 on your showcase. Luis, the actual retail price of your showcase is $32,484, a difference of $18,444. Over I go to Spiky, who bid $16,999 on her showcase. And Spiky, the actual retail price of your showcase is $17,031, a difference of $32. You win both showcases! Both showcases! You got everything in there! Spiky has won a total of $49,515 in prizes today on The Price is Right. And here comes her family and friends to congratulate her. Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered. Goodbye, everybody.

If you are the winner and you are $100 or less away from the retail price of your own showcase, you'll win both showcases! This version is much entertaining than the board game adaptions of “The Price Is Right” I have a few versions of “The Price Is Right” and first three were made by Milton Bradley/Hasbro, including the 1973 edition as “The New Price Is Right”, the 1974 2nd edition and the 1986 edition as well as the 2002 2nd edition by Endless Games. The 1986 edition is the best one by far.

    Rich Fields does the narration in this game and he really better captures the atmosphere of The Price Is Right vs. the voice actors on the "decades" version. That one is a bit of a disappointment...it doesn't have the same ambience to try to capture the same atmosphere of the game show.

    • @danalong1237
      @danalong1237 7 лет назад +3

      Yeah, but he, the late Johnny Olson and the late Rod Roddy will always be the three best-known TPIR announcers ever, and, along with current announcer George Gray, will always tell contestants those three magic words: "COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!"

      Dana Long I think you may have misread my post. I was saying I preferred Rich Fields to the voice actors used in the other versions of the games.

      When the show premiered on September 4, 1972 (which was Labor Day), the same day The Joker's Wild and Gambit also debuted (The New Scooby-Doo Movies premiered just 5 days after the three game shows premiered and a weekly nighttime syndicated version debuted just one week later), longtime Goodson-Todman staff announcer Johnny Olson, at 62 years old, was the show's first announcer and was the inventor of the phrase "Come on Down." After Olson's death in October 1985 at the age of 75, Gene Wood (another Goodson-Todman staff announcer), Bob Hilton, Rich Jeffries and Rod Roddy alternated as announcers, with 48-year-old Roddy eventually taking over full-time in February 1986 and sticking around for the next 17 years until his death on October 27, 2003 at the age of 66. After that, Randy West and Burton Richardson, both of whom, along with Paul Boland (who announced the 1998 version of Match Game), previously filled in for Roddy while he was recovering from colon cancer, along with Daniel Rosen (announcer of The Late Show on FOX), Jim Thornton (current announcer of Wheel of Fortune), Art Sanders, Roger Rose (former VH1 VJ), Don Bishop and Rich Fields alternated as announcers with Fields eventually taking over full-time in early 2004 until he was let go in the summer of 2010. Afterwards, JD Roberto, David Lawrence, Brad Sherwood, Steve White and George Gray alternated as announcers with Gray eventually taking over full-time in the spring of 2011, and Gray has announced TPIR ever since.

    Wow this was a poorly done realization of the TPIR especially with the music being cut off constantly. The plinko part was the biggest disgrace that is what everyone dreams of playing when they goto TPIR (that and the yodler), and it should of been first person and the highlight of the game. Games like this shows JUST why you should never ever purchase a product from UBISOFT. They don't care about their products.
