this reminds me of that one guy who went to the bank and demanded the bank teller to give him $1 in the calmest way possible. there was no weapon or even a raised voice. he just handed her a note that said to hand over $1. then he sat down and waited for police to arrest him. in jail, he got treatment for his medical conditions. healthcare is so bad in the US that it's come to this

There are millions of us Americans who are infuriated by what we’ve become and millions more that feel helpless to change it. We know we can do better, but our leaders won’t lead when we really need them to. Alternatives to the status quo are derided as unrealistic pipe dreams in our media and those who wish to chart a better course are all too often denied a platform by the powers that be. Our politicians listen primarily to the wealthy and well connected who bankroll their election campaigns and not to the people who vote them in. There’s always money for another war, for fomenting a coup in a developing country, for fancy gadgets for the nerds in the military and for our spies, but never enough for healthcare, education, reliable transit, or combating poverty at home.

You know, after he got his citizenship. He ended up having a very nasty terminal brain tumor that he had diagnosed too late to help give him those needed years to get his affairs in order. He married a citizen of said Country six months prior and she IMMEDIATELY had him sign a piece of paper granting her full access to his life long fortune that was meant for HIS children. He died alone and penniless while HER and HER children got his money. Meanwhile, my dear friend's brother died because of the funds she cut off to him in a treatable illness.. and my friend was left with nothing. So, yeah, nice Country there. It's without fault. Sure.

I'm 55, I've worked since I was 14 years old. Now I have long covid and can't work at my former job, can barely function. I have no insurance, no "socialist" healthcare because my husband still works - he's a 70 year old veteran - and I'm unemployed. If I get any sicker I am literally just going to lie down and die.

It's a shame this is what someone would have to do to get proper care in America.

I'm wondering how this kind of things are let out in the open. Glad that they do though!
People need to wake up from a long time but instead of that it's just a few that rise the issues and the masses just stay in their places with no reaction... or maybe just writing on fb or other social and thinking they did their part.
    It doesn't work that way.
    Eh... words and words again...

If you were dying of heart failure, would you say it's an "obstacle" to overcome? Would you refuse a heart transplant out of belief that God "has a plan for you" and if he wants you to die, then so be it? Yeah, thought not.

If the injuries caused by the accident revealed other complications down the road, it may fall under that same umbrella.

You all talk about Medicare and medicaid for all but it is not as great as everyone says it is. And my parents fought to get me on it for years and even then it doesn't cover everything.

Europe and Canada have universal health care services and yes a small price comes out of a person's paycheck to pay for medical services and medications and various treatments but it works for Europe and Canada and it could work here in the states but RepubliKKKans voted against it, and Democrats were all for it, but the price of universal health care would have to be heavily taxed and all the while millions if not thousands of my fellow Americans have to go without proper healthcare services.

Not only from paychecks, a big part of it (at least in Europe) comes from the taxes you pay when buying things too.

And for those of us who can't we get none...too poor to afford our own health insurance, too "rich" for government help. We barely pay our mortgage and utilities and often go to food pantries

I love the look religious people give others when theyr like "you dont have to be religious to pray for someones wellbeing." Because you dont. You can pray to the universe. Or the trees. You can ask anyone or anything to give a little energy to that persons health. Doesnt have to be god or someone religiously concerned

I do appreciate that perspective. But as someone atheist myself in my personal experience it still can put us in an awkward situation. A lot of Proselytizers tend to try to bring us or force us back into religion, challenging us or trying to pressure us into following their practices and views. And for those of us who were previously religious and left religion, participating in religious acts can bring forward past traumas.
I get the healing/comfort prayer can bring, but I would hope any well-meaning believer consider these things before asking us.
