Grounded is a survival game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. It was released for Windows and Xbox One in early access on July 28, 2020, and is expected to be officially released in 2021.
Grounded can be played either in first-person or third-person.The teen kid protagonist is shrunk to an inch tall and must survive in a backyard. The player character needs to consume food and water or lose health due to starvation or dehydration. The backyard is filled with various bugs and insects, such as spiders, bees, dust mites, and ladybugs. Spiders are one of the game's apex predators and will hunt down players, ladybugs can lead players to food sources, and aphids can be cooked and consumed for food.
As players progress in the game, they will visit new areas in the backyard. Players need to scavenge resources to construct a base to house supplies and defend themselves from hostile enemies. Resources can also be used to craft different tools, traps and weapons, such as axes, spears and bows and arrows, to defeat enemies. The game can be played solo and with up to four players in an online cooperative mode and includes a day and night cycle.

Max seems like he is the most main-character-ish. Willow is the most real and just wants to survive. Pete is just happy to be here and experiencing something new. Hoops almost acts like its all a lucid dream and the danger isnt real
Once you get strong enough, hoops starts getting bloodthirsty, saying if ants want to scrap or "Hoops versus spider, ding ding ding!' iirc

I just realized as I rethought of your comment. Wouldn’t that mean Hoops is the most mentally weak? I mean she’s kinda reflecting being small and is doing all she can not to freak out and so she acts that way to stop herself from crying and having a mental break down. So really this is Hoops being overly charismatic or energetic depending on how you view her, only to hide the fact that she’s terrified.

The best thing is is that in multiplayer the characters actually talk to each other
For some reason even when there are 1,000 CM away from each other (1,000 meters for them)
The actor for Pete also played Spider-Man at one point so it makes sense his name is Pete. Also when a wolf spider is nearby sometimes he’ll say that his “Petey sense is tingling”
pete definitely had the most thought put into his lines. and the actor knows how to sell the childish intonations and emphasis.
Willows lines are the best to me, they’re most normal ones and she doesn’t talk too much.
Hoops is my favorite as she likes to say "wanna scrap?" Whenever I'm in the black anthill😂

@@LiaraGaming Yeah, especially since the game seems to treat it as if there are other kids regardless if you play solo or not. Wendell will only talk to you as if you are one individual, but he will still reference the "kids" that went missing, and it is still implied that multiple kids got shrunk and put into the backyard, even though you never actually see them in solo.

I like Ally Hoops the best thus far. She's funny. My biggest (haha...) problem with Pete is his outfit.

Dude, Hoops is the most balanced character. Max sounds kinda dumb but brave. Petey is funny but keeps bringing up his mom. Willow is very sarcastic and a downer (in my opinion. I read in the comments that some people think shes more realistic. realistic is boring btw.) I love Hoops. She is taking charge of her situation, figured out that shes tiny, not stupid but also not the most intelligent. Shes smart, cuz she knows what a science pod is and deducted that there are more of them. I just love Hoops that I can go on, but I wont.

Nah, They have personality, I don't know what ninja-emo-edgelord-demon you want but the characters are good.
3 yrs later I agree playing as children let alone a preset child is weird but it is what it is
I like the girls design, but their lines don't fit the narrative IMO. Hate the boys design, but love their lines, give bonus immersion value. Tough one.
