Reviews from gaming magazines and corporate websites are still as completely worthless as they ever were. RUclips is the only decent medium for game reviews if you ask me.
This was one of my most played 4-player games on the N64. Myself and 3 friends used to play this every weekend and we just loved it! Don't get me wrong, it's no Mario Kart 64 but it was hella fun in multiplayer.
yeah and anyone can play it as the controls etc are all so easy to pick up and play, makes things much easier when you don't have to explain much to play it
After being disapppoiinted with Cruis n' USA this was a pleasant surprise. The game literally performs better in every single way and we probably have Eurocom's skilled development team to thank for that. One of the biggest drawbacks to USA even when ignoring the graphics and dealing with the controls was dull course design. The variety in locales here along with a big middle finger to common sense makes Cruis n' World a real gem.
I played cruisn usa on the nintendo, but this one I played at the arcade, I mean this was the arcade game to play with friends at fundraisers, having an audience with each challenge. I finally got this game on nintendo, and Ive probaby played this game the most and with friends.
I love playing this game in the way of watching the track magically appear before you in the distance. Low DoF handled surprisingly well on the N64. Also, dat BGM.
Thank you for all of your hard work to preserve, review, and make videos about these older games.......of all of the videos I have watched by you, it feels weird to be leaving a comment on this particular video. I guess you Brits are good for something.....I'm just being a smartass. Lol
Critics could not get over that Cruis`n series was Outrun rip -off. Bad review scores despite that Cruis`n games were some of the best arcede racers at that point of time.
Crus'n World was probably one of the most memorable racing experiences with 3 friends. Like Glen said, the simplicity of it is actually its greatest strength. And the frame rate was solid.
Cruis'n World is even better than USA and I love it as well. They actually changed more than you think. In the N64 version you could drift by tapping the brake while turning and pop the car up on two wheels by turning sharply and double tapping the gas. Also double tapping the gas while going straight gave you a tiny boost and pulled your hood off the ground. There is also a championship mode where you will experience a whole new level of pain and frustration as it is very difficult.
I love this game! It's so fun to go around the world in a car! You can race or just cruise! There is nothing wrong with it. And the cars are fantastic!!!!
I enjoy cruis'n world as much as i do cruis'n usa. with both, you know exactly what your going to get when you pop it in the system. plain old arcade racing fun. its nice being able to just jump into a game, without having to remaster the controls, figure out the storyline, etc.
This is my favorite of the series! I played for months until unlocked every single car. I just don't know what's the deal with those Critics. I mean, this is a easy game to pick up and play and despite the downgraded graphics in comparison with the Arcade I though that this was an amazing port.
I played this game so much, I would often lend it to friends in return for other, more critically acclaimed, racing games and we all seemed to enjoy the speed and almost stupid simplicity of this game.
This was the game I played for hours... Was there a shortcut in the Hawaii map? We're there any shortcuts at all or am I possibly thinking about another game...
No I totally understand about not wanting to ruin first time experiences. I'm very careful about that on my channel too. I was just remembering the first time I pulled off some of those moves by accident and wondered "How did I do that?" Again though I respect that you don't show special cars and later tracks as I do think that that robs players of the first time experience.
Hey. Press A twice in rapid succesion. Welcome to the best part of the game. You are welcome. Try it round corners, right before a hill, and especially when tailgaiting.
One of my guilty pleasures along wjth clayfighter 63 and a 3rd, aero guage and off road challenge. I dont know why but when i was young and i had my n64 i just loved playing them games.
I liked this one a lot better. The framerate is solid and the geometry of the backgrounds is a lot more complex. You should be signed to a website like Retroware - your reviews come regularly and they're always really well-done.
Definitely a "cult classic." I love when an arcade style game almost makes fun of the genre it is a part of. Frame rate is perfect and the cartoony visuals and physics had me laughing for hours. Definitely a good game for a few beers with friends
Never had much of a chance to play even the arcade version of this game, much less the N64 version. Going off of the footage in this video, though, it's clear how much better it is than Cruis'n USA.
One of my friends had this game and while we played it a lot, I remember it looking and feeling so cheap. There wasn't much to it other than holding down A until you finished the race, and between the horrible pop-up and ugly animations and sprites the package failed to impress. But, I do remember it, so it has that going for it! And we made some great memories driving the unlockable three-wheeled "Mr. Bean" truck, screaming the misheard theme song: "You've got the beans! You've got the power! To cruu-uuu-uise the world!"
thank you that is one thing i miss about gameing from the 80s and 90s where it was not about if a game was paned or not by cirtics but more about what you thought about the game and what you thought about the game when you picked it up. there was no real bais in your head to say this game sucks unless you felt like it turely did.
I grinded so many hours in this game. Don't get me started on getting the mini cooper hidden car. It's the most difficult car to get in that game, took me soooo many tries to unlock it....
Well, considering to the old version, this game was a lot much better, but it didn't grab so much the players after hours of gameplay. You could finish this game in matter of hours. Even i have this game and sold him in a couples of days.
Great review as always. I recall N64 Magazine giving this vastly improved Cruis'n a poor score, but the Official publication gave it 83%. From the look of it in this video, and given the dearth of racers on the system, I think ONM was closer to the mark on this one - not often I would say that!
Played this game a lot when I was growing up. Recently got it with an N64 and had a blast going back. I love dumb arcade games. Just simple fun gameplay.
The Cruisin series have been a bit of a guilty pleasure for me when I used to rent them. It's like the video game equivalent of an exploitation film: it's bad but you can't help but like it with the bizzare so called physics and the cheap music.
I remember when a friend of mine rented this game, along with many other N64 games. I didn't really care for it much, but I did have a bit fun out of Cruis'n World, and liked it a lot better than Cruis'n USA. This was way before I got truly better at racing games. Playing it today, I have a much bigger appreciation for the game, and I still prefer this over the first. The controls are still twitchy but I got used to them. I especially liked the fact that you can do all these stunts. As cheesy as this game is, it's a guilty pleasure and loads of fun.
N64 Glenn Plant Man you have one of my favorite channels on YT. I think you could make a PS1 cannel too, and some comparisons between versions in other channel. I love PS1 and N64 soo much and it would be awesome to see a channel of PS1 from you. Great work dude!
The cruisn games on n64 remind me of the best snes racers like top gear 2. Not as good but brings that back so I'll always love them even if rush is better game over all
Nice review once againe! i wich the game had some scandinavian winter courses hehe.. But do you think you can review the GEX Enter the gecko game for n 64??
Gotta laugh at how people hated on Saturn racers like Daytona USA for short draw distances but N64 games like this are maybe slightly worse in that department!
I've really enjoyed your reviews so far and fair play for liking the Cruisin games but I feel like you are misunderstanding what an arcade racer is. Just because it's not a simulation, there is no excuse for the utterly terrible gameplay on offer here. The handling is simply nasty and a simple tweak to the overly sensitive controls would have made it better. Not to mention an arcade racer isn't based around simple gameplay, look at something like Ridge Racer as proof. That has pick up and play gameplay but rewards immense skill in the long term. I was hugely disappointed how bad these games turned out as the always looked so good in previews.
i agree with all your points but still i can't help but love this game, i think i mentioned it in this review or one of the other cruisn reviews i did that this has charm as its a total switch off and relax game. with some arcade racers like you mentioned you still need to concentrate....for me the fun in this is that you really don't need to think all that much while playing so it makes it enjoyable and easy to overlook its many flaws.
***** Oh for sure I am not against you liking this game but I feel it was rightly panned. Heck we all like different things and find fun in different ways and your reviews are genuinely balanced. I just felt you were doing a disservice to arcade racers. :) I just had a look at the actual arcade game. The handling really does look a lot better. It's a pity with the N64 analogue they couldn't capture the progressive steering like in other racers on the system.
Reviews meant nothing as a kid. It was all about picking up the box and having a look at the back.
+Stampistuta amen to that
Or somebody bringing a game over to your house one day!
They did to me. I always read the reviews in electronic gaming monthly. They were always spot on.
Reviews from gaming magazines and corporate websites are still as completely worthless as they ever were.
RUclips is the only decent medium for game reviews if you ask me.
Brie Russell Totally agree. These days I want to hear the opinion of a gamer. Back in the day I would just pick up whatever looked good on the shelf.
Love this game. I miss those days of just wanting a fun game.
Yeah we need a new one!
Same here
Didn’t know this game wasn’t considered that good. I just remember having so much fun as a kid. Even my dad used to play with me.
I love playing it, such a time sapper
This was one of my most played 4-player games on the N64. Myself and 3 friends used to play this every weekend and we just loved it! Don't get me wrong, it's no Mario Kart 64 but it was hella fun in multiplayer.

I still have nightmares about the damn moon track.
why?
I played cruisn usa on the nintendo, but this one I played at the arcade, I mean this was the arcade game to play with friends at fundraisers, having an audience with each challenge.
I finally got this game on nintendo, and Ive probaby played this game the most and with friends.
Thanks for kickstarting my love for retro games again! This is a great channel, and I appreciate your hard work :)
Played this one at arcades when I was a kid.
I love playing this game in the way of watching the track magically appear before you in the distance. Low DoF handled surprisingly well on the N64.
Also, dat BGM.
and now we have Crusin Blast :D
I remember Cruis'n World.
Thank you for all of your hard work to preserve, review, and make videos about these older games.......of all of the videos I have watched by you, it feels weird to be leaving a comment on this particular video. I guess you Brits are good for something.....I'm just being a smartass. Lol
Haha thank you - hope to be back doing more when my health gets better again
Tapping brake while holding gas and turning will allow you to drift, which actually gives you a slight speed boost.
Yup
Critics could not get over that Cruis`n series was Outrun rip -off. Bad review scores despite that Cruis`n games were some of the best arcede racers at that point of time.
Grew up with an N64 despite growing up dying the ps2 XBOX age this was the first game I’ve ever played in my life. So much memories
Eurocome did really well adding to this port. Especially the music. Schifter, and anijibi and the chase being all awesome.
Crus'n World was probably one of the most memorable racing experiences with 3 friends. Like Glen said, the simplicity of it is actually its greatest strength. And the frame rate was solid.
Played this game so much as a kid, favorite car the 3 wheeler for sure

I love the graphics in Cruis'n World. It's like watching a Monty Python Skit become a 3D racer.
This is my favorite of the series! I played for months until unlocked every single car. I just don't know what's the deal with those Critics. I mean, this is a easy game to pick up and play and despite the downgraded graphics in comparison with the Arcade I though that this was an amazing port.
Nice I really want to play a crusin game! Can't wait for that v8 review!
I played this game so much, I would often lend it to friends in return for other, more critically acclaimed, racing games and we all seemed to enjoy the speed and almost stupid simplicity of this game.
Ah, great memories...
This was my very 1st racing game this and rush 2 absolutely brings great memories
So how do you feel about Cruis'n coming to Nintendo Switch?
This was the game I played for hours... Was there a shortcut in the Hawaii map? We're there any shortcuts at all or am I possibly thinking about another game...
No I totally understand about not wanting to ruin first time experiences. I'm very careful about that on my channel too. this was a great game to play with friends/family everyone can pick it up easily and have fun.

Welcome to the best part of the game.
You are welcome.

One of my guilty pleasures along wjth clayfighter 63 and a 3rd, aero guage and off road challenge. I dont know why but when i was young and i had my n64 i just loved playing them games.
Tom Atkinson yeah they are so simple to pick up and just play!
II remember playing this, so excited because I liked beating games. Loved the Police car and the ability to turn the lights on.
I liked this one a lot better. The framerate is solid and the geometry of the backgrounds is a lot more complex. You should be signed to a website like Retroware - your reviews come regularly and they're always really well-done.
Would love to see a remastered Cruis'n trilogy on the Switch
I did play this with childhood friends... great memories
As a kid, I knew this was a bad game but I still liked it very much. I enjoyed the scenery and the music.
Yah it’s a total switch off and chill kinda game isn’t it
@@n64glennplant Oh yes, more fun and enjoyable than say Ridge Racer. Never enjoyed skidding around. Very thoughtful review.
Definitely a "cult classic." I love when an arcade style game almost makes fun of the genre it is a part of. Frame rate is perfect and the cartoony visuals and physics had me laughing for hours. Definitely a good game for a few beers with friends
Exactly! Have you played cruisn blast yet?
Never had much of a chance to play even the arcade version of this game, much less the N64 version. Going off of the footage in this video, though, it's clear how much better it is than Cruis'n USA.
I bought Crusin' world, my friends slated me for it but I always enjoyed the arcadey pick up and play aspect. Good, simple game, underrated.
this game is a blast with friends, they call me THE ROAD KING
Why didn't they remove the chanting from the Egypt track like they did on ocarina of time?
One of my friends had this game and while we played it a lot, I remember it looking and feeling so cheap. Now waiting for the Cruisn' Exotica review! :D
I grinded so many hours in this game. Don't get me started on getting the mini cooper hidden car. It's the most difficult car to get in that game, took me soooo many tries to unlock it....

Don't think I've ever made it to the moon back in the day :|
Anyhow, I loved playing this as a kid :)
thats your mission for today! get to the moon hah
Played this game a lot when I was growing up. Recently got it with an N64 and had a blast going back.
I love dumb arcade games. Just simple fun gameplay.

This game demands attentions and offers pure fun
Well i was a little kid back then and i remember this game with affection... i simply love this and USA no worrying about critics.
I enjoy these even to this day too
N64 Glenn Plant Man you have one of my favorite channels on YT. I think you could make a PS1 cannel too, and some comparisons between versions in other channel. I love PS1 and N64 soo much and it would be awesome to see a channel of PS1 from you. Great work dude!
another awesome review Glenn mate
My favorite part of this game is crashing into something and having one on the opponents hitting my car behind me and I go flying forward
I don’t understand how this game was panned? I maybe can see the first one getting somewhat bad reviews but cruisin the world is amazing
Cruisn USA rules. I don't care what the haters say. It's a fun, simple experience!
Agreed! Check out my livestream videos of the series !
Good comparison of the 2 is there a third one in the series or am I just making that up.....
The cruisn games on n64 remind me of the best snes racers like top gear 2. Not as good but brings that back so I'll always love them even if rush is better game over all
I allways felt this was the strongest of the trilogy I loved usa and exotica but world to me was just so much awesome
I love this game, too bad we never got the sequel here in europe.
I enjoyed all 3.. Great fun
Nice review once againe! i wich the game had some scandinavian winter courses hehe..
But do you think you can review the GEX Enter the gecko game for n 64??
if you want to play the 37th best racing game on the N64... here you go.
Yep. That's the track that beats my ass every time.
Thanks for the video man.
This game is awesome! :)
Love
this as a kid
the drifting!!
Is this one better than exotica..?
The Cruis'n games are nice stupid fun. Kind of like Rad Racer. I wish Square would make a new Rad Racer. Just for the giggles.
remember you can pull out tricks in this
No sardine extreme?
Gotta laugh at how people hated on Saturn racers like Daytona USA for short draw distances but N64 games like this are maybe slightly worse in that department!
Cruisn was known for having insane pop up 😂
@@n64glennplant I swear it’s actually slightly worse than Saturn Daytona USA.
Still looks cool though as I adore that era of gaming! :)
Nice review!
You can race on the Moon? Okay.
I felt like I dreamed playing this. I forgot the name of the game lol
Now you know you can re enjoy it all over again
yes, love it
Exactly what it says on the tin ! :-) great review Glenn !
It's like F-zero x, great framerate over graphics.
what about cruisn exotica?
you know you can skid in this game, right? by tapping the brakes on curbs?
Yeah that’s right, watch my complete livestreams of all the cruisn games 😬
is there a link to the livestreams?
cruis'n world / you can race on the moon
The super duper best game I ever played
Great game dis and as i said hard to find boxed uk 1 madness
Yeah they’re all getting harder and harder to get CIB pal these days
Great video love watching them ❤️
Love this game my favorite ♥️
One favorite games
i remember playing with my cousin and right when im about to win he resets the n64 that asshole...
Crusin was not terrible. What a grouch and nintendo snob.:)

yeah it was just too early for the first cruisn but then when that sold so well i bet they thought heck why change it
I hate the Rubber Band AI of this game, more than the other two by far.
El sol esta brillante,,Vamos de paseo, , El sol está caliente, niña te deseo La noche está muy linda y tu eres muy boniiiita...RAJAAAAAAA!!!
I like this game
Pop up! Much?
Pass.
I just bought it..loose xD
Anyway to own it is 🔥🔥🔥
This game was the s*** bro
