  • If you struggle with strumming it's probably because you don't know how to hold or 'control' the plectrum. This vid will help you fix that problem. I'm using Tom Petty's song, 'FREE FALLING' to demonstrate how it should be done so, not only will you learn how to master your pleck control, you'll learn a brilliant song at the same time. Can't say fairer than that. Download your free chord charts here: www.bluenotegu...

Started playing guitar almost 5 years ago. At 68 years old! Been playing drums since 1962. Started guitar because I wanted to play John Fahey type things. So I started fingerpicking. As a result I cannot play with a pick at all. But I always follow your channel and have learned a great deal from you. So I appreciate the instruction! Maybe I’ll get a pick.
    Thanks!

Love your channel. You are great teacher. Always get a chuckle out of your posts. Especially the comments about the horse sh_ _ and the boots. Seriously though great instructions do appreciate what you are doing Sir. It’s -36 degrees with wind chills-43 here in western Canada at the moment. I have been getting through the winter days enjoying playing guitar with your insight and inspiration. Keep up the great work Brother.

I'm really diggin your vids and you should be up to a million subs pretty soon. Anyhow, I play guitar with no picks, just my fingers and I play percussively, which means I hammer onto the strings with fingers and the side of my hand or my thumbs. The first half of my playing time I was a drummer, so when I got into guitar I guess, as my style developed, I started beating on or hammering on the strings. I had a bucket of picks in front of me, but when I tried them, I figured, what's the use, so I dropped them and just used my hands and fingers.
I started playing in public at open mics and community suppers and luncheons, people started complimented my singing and guitar playing , also saying that it sounded like I was playing guitars and a set of drums at the same time. I was startled and said, gee, maybe I need to stop doing that, I thought it meant that I was fukkin up. But those people from my audience said, oh no! Keep on doing it the way you are doing it, it sounds great. I still like to pick up a pick and doing the strum once in a while, so thanks for your video, but my comfort zone is no picks, just me beating on my guitars. See my pic? I'm a lefty playing, custom made for lefties guitars. You have a great youtube channel here! I'm a disabled vet at 72 years old with nonthin to lose. Hey! check out a song called No Time To Lose by Tarney/Spencer Band. (70's era) I love to play the song and it is awesome. do a lesson based on the song please. Alan Tarney played with The Shadows and produced the band Aha! Take On Me. Spencer was Alan's drummer in Tarney Spencer they did 3 albums. Alan Tarney with his bandmate from Tarney Spencer band emigrated from Australia to the UK for the same reason the Brothers Gibb did.

We play the ‘ands’ with a down stoke in this song as we are saving the ‘up’ strokes for when we double up to 16.
