- 'The mother of all riffs' - a bold statement but it's true! If you learn this one riff you will be, inadvertently, learning hundreds of others at the same time. Day Tripper, Pretty Woman, Crazy Train to name but three. Click the blue link for 'free' paperwork if you want to give it a try...it's easy! www.bluenotegu...
I love your simple minded instructions. They are perfect for my old simple mind. Thank you!
Simple Minds. What a great name for a band! 😉
Majority of guitar tutorials give me brain freeze. My favourite tutor by far. Only one i set a notification for when a new video is uploaded
Rob, I caught on to you about a month ago. your entertaining, the kind of instructor that brings the point across and makes it easy on people like me that are slow learners.
Life by the Drop! a good one.... I Don't know why you don't have more Subscribers! thank you so much! Cheers!
Life By The Drop was incredible, Rob.
I’ve been trying to play that for decades. You nailed it.
Don’t be disheartened. That was the best lesson I’ve seen. Simple, straightforward and accurate.
Perfect 👌
Rob, you are by far the easiest professional to understand. Great fun learning from you.
Thankyou, Sir. Such invaluable wisdom right here, man!
Another great wee lesson Rob , looking forward to Saturday
thank you. one of the first riffs i learned almost 50 years ago... in form of a boogie-voogie.. still serves me well in all genres as u said
Thanks So Much! These are the type lessons I look for. Much appreciated Sir!!!
☘️ Brilliant Teacher Rob 5 star 🌟
Rob, of all the online instructors ive seen, you are definitely the best. You make it understandable and with a bit of humor added in. Love it and thank you so much.
Rob, my face lights up with everything you've posted. My playing is coming along. I am REALLY enjoying your channel and quite grateful for your generosity! I'll check out SRV next. I am having a great time and am disappointed when I practice so much the grooves in my fingers produce a bad tone. lol. Thank you to the moon and back!
Excellent lesson and fun. Cheers from Canada mate
Great lesson - thanks man! 👍🎸😃
Hi Rob, I recently discovered your excellent channel and finding it very useful, thank you!! I also looked up your band ‘Alternative Radio’ and watched you and Alan on YourTube, Awesome!!! Keep up the good work Ian 😀🙋🏼♂️
I’m getting long in the tooth so I’m so happy to find someone who makes great lessons and thank you !

Excellent lesson Golden nugget time Thanks Rob😎
Really enjoy your lessons. Thank you.
New subscriber here Rob , this lesson is tidy and deffo one of the foundations I missed , great fun to play, thankyou brother.
I was betting the farm on Ten Years Gone. You're right of course.
Thanks for this valuable reminder of the simplicity in music.
Thanks Rob. I'm taking adult ed classes after (many) years of trying to teach myself. I'm finding that if I take what my tutor teaches, mix it up with your advice and guidance, and one or two other similarly gifted communicators, I'm getting on much quicker that ever before. I love your wit and the craic. Great stuff 😊
Thanks Rob, you are a very good teacher, I’m a beginner Guitar player and so happy I found you. I’m learning so much from you😊
Thank you, I am getting the hang of it, but you know what really struck me with this one… I am learning to read TAB at the same time. Excellent lesson Rob, thanks heaps.
Thank you for all the Time you spend to us and your Passion To teach us guitar well. Best greatings from franconia/ Bavaria. Rainer
Many thanks! 👍🏻😎
Love the channel and the banter Rob ! From a scouse guitarist in Chelsea Thanks
Yet another great beginner lesson Rob. Also grateful for the SRV lesson as well what a player he was.
Thanks Rob keep up the good work.
Brilliant wee lesson...I was checking out how to play The Letter by The Box Tops just this morning and, as you know, the opening riff is exactly what you have now described...coincidence?...I don't think so...😄👍
Brilliant! Less is more. Did not whizz off, lol
You are helping me to do the basics, thanks you so so so much
I'm going to see Tommy Emmanuel next Friday night in Dublin. It might inspire me even more.
I'm going to take some of the credit for this video, as it was the basis of my lesson with you only yesterday! Looking forward to us playing together in a couple of weeks Rob, by which time I should have it mastered 😅
You’re right Andy. How’s the practicing going? 👍🏻😎
Thank you for a true inspiration
Your a good teacher ❤😊, love your insights
Thank you, a widow woman that lives in a village of 475 water meters, on water board. ,very rural, in the swamps of Louisiana, learning to play my classical guitar, a Cordoba, 700 dallor guitar, with NO teacher in sight , glad I found you videos, what a blessing to this 64 year old country girl , your approach is easy for me to learn. Been very Helpful Amen, God bless you 🙏💐🌻🌷🪻⚘️🌹🥀

Loved it, Absolutely loved it. Your content is by far the best yet, keep it up and will enjoy learning from you any day!
Another great tutorial Rob! You always present something great to learn.😀
Another good lesson ,Rob I took a peek at your ,Blue note page . I think the song ,Valley of Evergreen is rather good . Some years ago , a workmate took up Guitar , and all his teacher told him to do was practice chromatic runs and scales , and not a tune in sight . All we need to remember as students , is the three , P's ; Practice , practice practice . lol .
Excellent lesson ! Thanks
Great lesson ,simple to understand and interesting to learn with you as a teacher ,thank you Sir for teaching
Another great one! Got so much going on myself, but I'll check out the SRV video. Thanks! You're a great instructor and inspiration!
You sir , are the real deal !
Thank you for this
I learned how to play a guitar I bought down in Tijuana Mexico when we set off on a western pacific submarine trip in the late 1960s. We learned to play the shuffle with barre chords and some other cool stuff but If you would have been our ship mate it probably would have changed the trajectory of our life :-)
We came in to Okinawa after many months of sea duty and walked into a bar and listened to a great band, Japanese long hairs.
We were very impressed by a song they performed that night and when we got back to San Diego to my surprise we heard the song again. It was Come Together!
Hey thanks for doing what you do, it's really helpful and I really appreciate your time and effort, thanks a lot.
Useful stuff, thanks.
I play it to perfection thanks to you, Ive learned more from you in a short time and wasting £££ on online courses😡
My face does light up thanks
Personally - I loved the SRV, keep up the great lessons
Lessons with fun thanks Tom
Thanks again Rob
That was the easiest and best lesson for me thanks
the best tutor...brilliant..
I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't watch the Life By The Drop video because I'd literally never heard of that song before. Thus I had no desire to learn it. I'll go give it a quick view right now, though. Take a look and see if maybe it's something I want to learn.
I will be watching all the way from Preston Lancashire.
Great teaching style Rob.
Dankeschön Rob 🖖🎸🇩🇪🏴
Happy new day Rob!How old/young are you and when did you start to play the guitar?I play for around 2 1/2 years. What would you recommend to do from now on if I want to make people cry when I play my guitar and sing? That is what I want to happen.
Great Lesson, Thanks!!
Mother is just the right word.
OMG FANTASTIC !
Mutha that was good Rob!
Excellent lesson 🎸👍
Just about gave up on ever progressing any further and settled for my own little repertoire.. found you a couple of weeks ago … I’m now reclaiming the box room … and at the age of 64…I’m gonna have a den .. with a telly. That’s connected to facetube 👍…never came across a pro like you who gives away so much for free…and your method and communication skills (tho they probably come natural to you ) are just brilliant ..thank you…just to add whilst watching this vid .. Hey bulldog got into My head .. I’ve always thought it’s their most underrated track and you can isolate maccas bass by unplugging the LH speaker…maybe one for the future👍..sorry I’m getting carried away 🙄
Thanks for the kind comments my friend. Yes, Hey Bulldog is definitely one to do. 👍🏻😎
Good lesson bro u should do more lessons like this but use a looper pedal and explain the lead parts over the chord progression s .. just an idea bro ur lessons are always cool my man cheers from Ireland rob 🇮🇪🇮🇪🎸🎸🎸🎸thanks mate
Damn it, Man! Thank You!
Love this cranky guy
Thanks!
Thanks Jasmine! 👍🏻😎
You are certainly welcome. You clarified the hard part of Apache for me when no one else could. Your teaching style is very succinct. Thanks for all the good lessons.
Great lesson. Thank you.
Thank you
Cheers Rob, great video.
I recently suffered a minor stroke...I've drive...what you loose is unreal and I've listed to you...plz angie
Smashing Rob !
loving the vids. Great job. Ive been learning a version of classical gas by Mike Herberts but yours is much better. Do you have it in standard tablature ? sorry but after years of reading thosw tabs i cant switch to reading yours, my old brain wont allow it. Happy to pay for it.
I might have some hand written tab for Classical Gas. If I can find it I’ll send it to you. 👍🏻
Legend. Thank you. @@fennahrob6934
The b turn around bit, I always wanted to do it. Cheers.
Awesome!
Thanks
Cheers Brian, much appreciated! 😎
Boogie!
Thanks I like daft ways of remembering things. Good tumble-turn.... Rob, give me your reason(s) for NOT clipping your strings. I'd like to here your opinion.
Lazy, pure and simple. 👍🏻
It's ok, we all have days like that. 😲
Cool, thx!
Thank you so much Rob for making my dreams come true to be able to play the guitar. I went to this guy here in Dublin to learn how to play for ten years that cost me an arm and a leg and he taught me sweet fuck all only convoluted shit that confused me no end and made me want to fuck my guitar into the river Liffey. Thank God I stumbled across you by accident Rob you have given me the will to live my dreams again. Good on you Rob your a diamond, I love you as only a Mother could love.
Hi Rob. Will the live stream be happening?
thanks rob, but I’m still slow. But I’m getting somewhere. 😅
Another Gr8 video 💯 🎶🎶🎶
Hey Rob. What support do you use for your acoustic guitar? Thanks!
I only use a support on my classical guitar. All others I just rest on my knee. 👍🏻
I really didn't want to click this. I've taught myself I stay away from teachers
Hi Rob, Can you settle our discussion at home: Is your cap a Greek or a Breton fishing cap please?
Not sure but I like the sound of both of them. 👍🏻😎
Stevie didnt write "Life by the Drop".Written by Doyle Brahmhall. (RIP).Stevie also learmed to sing from Big Doyle.
AINT IT FUN BEING FROM TEXAS!
Can this be played in A as well please Rob.
*Crazy Train by Randy Rhoads, Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley !
Yep that's why I didn't open the ray von.😊
Sounds like sweet home, Chicago .
I'll tell ya my opinion about SRV. I'd love to do that, but you can't ever play it in public. It's sort of like performing "Sweet Home Alabama" here in the South. God help you and your tires if you mess up a single lick.
I call that walking 👍👍
But sometimes, to start, you need to Come as you are!
My personal mother of all riffs is Everyone’s a winner by hot chocolate
