I like the Sizeup app. Great for measuring large or long areas.
Being 80 years old, won’t use many of these. Here’s a tip though, when measuring small items, you can use any dollar bill.
It’s exactly 6.0 inches long, and 2.5 inches wide.
If you fold it in half you’ll have 3.0 inches.
So for a quick size up, dollar bills do come in handy.
I also understand they can be used to barter with.

I like your tip on the $ bill. I've been using various parts of my hand for years for quick approximate measurements. For instance, the tip of my forefinger to the main knuckle is about 4-1/4" long. Very handy when precision isn't important.

I found a useful function of my phone where I could skip to 1 minute in the video when the waffling which amounted to basically repeating the video title in different ways stopped and the actual content began.
Following this amazing discovery I found that I could also stop the video when I discovered it was a load of of old tosh.. approximately 1 minute and 6 secs in for you fellow youtubers.

It would be more interesting if BrightSide actually put some thought into the script.
- If you see the remote IR light the battery is good, not the other way around. Lights don't work when batteries are dead.
- MightyText doesn't work if your phone battery is dead. It relies on your phone to send/receive texts.
Is there an app that allows (subtle) verbal/voice control of the camera function, say, stating 'snap' to take a photo without touching the screen, or start/stop a video by saying 'record' and 'stop' ?
there is no "size up" app. there is "size that up" which is rated 1 star by other users
good but you should provide apps name on the description so its easy to look up other wise all good showing some thing new apps

Thomas Randall, you must NOT have watched the same video I just did, all I saw was that it could check to see if your TV or other remote is working by using the phones camera and watching the display on your phone to see if the IR L.E.D. is working.
However I don't need a smart phone or a camera for that!
I got a small little square made out of a special reflective material that can show IR light on it that the human eye can't see and I paid LESS than $1.00 for it!
Most of these apps are junk, if you read a lot of the reviews on the APP store sites, you'll soon see that none of these are worth the download or the effort of putting them on your phone.
As for the measuring APP, give me a break, how many people really can place the phone EXACTLY in the same exact spot on the other side of a table? Answer: Not very many!
Best bet is to use a LASER measuring system or the good old standard tape measure.
Those phone measuring apps can be off as little as a few 16th's of an inch to as much as an inch or two if you move the slightly above from the original starting position. Worthless and useless app. if you're using it to measure "accurately", because it doesn't!
I like Mighty Text Feature Its cool
The safety app was the one I liked best. You can let someone know they have been photographed or are on video, which is on the cloud, not on the phone...if you feel threatened, esp. by a group. I once took a pic of a person who had threatened harm to a student. He wondered why I kept getting his pic and he tried to keep me from getting a clear shot. He finally left covering his face. I heard no more about it. So I don't think he came back later to try again. I never did get a good pic of the guy.
