the Fred durst sneak diss 😂
What brain hears: “guys in backwards red caps”
What brain sees: “ sad fred durst”
@@ongogoblogian1343absolutely
Lol Right which is funny cuz they're probably musicians who have cross path s can't get enough of claypool love the guy
I love Clay but history has proved Fred is beyond the red hat. He dresses like a hick on purpose now bc he doesnt give a fuck. I love them both!
@@seanwalker4710 Fred Durst even co-produced Lacquer Head of i remember correctly
"The image has nothing to do with it, it's all about the music" - Les Claypool
He was around in the 90s during the grunge era. He watched alot of his friends die of drugs. It is true the 90s were the most deadliest era for music for a reason.
With his iconic 5 wood bass, monkey mask, and fan made whamola.
That's also why I have respect for Kurt Cobain he felt the same way about music . It is definitely shown in how he dressed, acted and talked .
@@imaredhead420no it wasn’t
I can confirm this was said by Les Claypool during this clip.
There will never be another Les Claypool.
Actually there are 14 other people named Les Claypool
🤓@@jeremyhilton6
There will never be another you!
@@jeremyhilton6😂 I see what you did there
Never
Best bass player of all time
Nah, Geddy is better. Both are incredibly talented though.
Ever Hear of Jacqo
Les and Ryan Martinee from mudvayne are top tier. When the bass elevates the song and makes it 100x better that's what people remember.
IMO with legends like him a best doesn’t really happen bc I’m sure he has his own musician inspirations like everyone else 🤙🏼 festivals are wild with lots of good energy flowing around
There are too many bass players that could be argued to be better than all of the people everyone mentioned. Naming a bass player that you think is better is missing the point
I knew there were other reasons on why I like this musician
He plays the Bass like a lead guitarist! Awesome!!!!!
Because he IS LEAD GUITAR (BASS).
Duh 🙄
Not really
I wish I played the lead guitar as he plays the bass
This is why they r amazing seen them 7x but there tribute to the kings Rush cover tour was 1 of greatest shows ever! Postponed a yr cuz covid so we showed late 2 skip intro bands there were none and still saw a 3 1/2hr show
Les is more 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love that!!! Les is more!!! On so many levels and dimensions.
You must be from the billboard. Hi
Les is a legend .. and I don’t use that word lightly
I can agree with that. Greatest bass player in my lifetime. And I don’t say that lightly either
This man is a treasure!
Met Les at kirkwood ski resort years back. He is such a kind soul
That's freakin rad!
They played at Kirkwood?!?! I am now officially furious I didn’t even know
Oh cool that's nice to hear. You think of him spitting on the 'My name is Mud' video and to hear you say that hahaha.
I'm going to check them out TONIGHT in Franklin TN.
haven't seen them since 1996
It's been 3 months since you posted this comment and I gotta ask how was the show?
@@sillylung Saw them a couple nights ago. They kicked ass.
@@SP_A_C_E_D I was lucky enough to get to see his jazz band on NYE this year and it was so good as well
Oysterhead is probably the best live show I've ever witnessed.
'Let's play...cool!' -Les Claypool
Spoonerism!
Music NOT image. Thanks Les!!! Hopefully we're back to musicians actually playing their instruments.
Les.. I was 15 in 94 this.. YOUR music was such a real real sereal sort of music that all of my mates just.. just took a hold of.. Primus music changed my.. our lives mate!! Love it all the time!❤Adam Smelsham 🤙❤️
Hands down, best bass player EVER; LES fkknn CLAYPOOL‼️🙏🏽‼️
FANTASTIC 🇬🇧
I would love to see Les get back together with bucket head. Those two have styles that compliment one another so well.
Yes . I saw them at Roseland in N.Y.C. It was Very Good !!
My very first concert was primus !! I just stood there in amazement watching Les . Crowd was telling primus sucks before the show started , I was like wtf?! Les is the baddest ! That one leg stomp he does , Rad ! My name is mud , all time fav !!
I had herd of Primus, but never herd there music until I heard they were coming to Madison Wi. I checked them out on RUclips and decided to buy a ticket. Incredible show! I love the long jammin bass lines.
Good for you Primus is a one of a kind
Almost 60 and still rocking hard a real treasure in music.
at 50 I gotta 🤣
dont buy the hype about what you can and can't or should and shouldn't do at whatever age
even if you only half way take care of your body along the way and you'll still be able to run a marathon at 70.
❤️🩹 ✊🏻 rock on bro
I would be happy over the moon if I saw less Claypool setting up at the bar i was in.
I've seen primus a few times with various drummers and always amazing opening bands from limp bizkit to I think incubus and maybe even power man 5000?
Les always puts on a show. Amazing talent.
I live in a small town in a redneck state and primus used to come to this bar at least once a year. Usually multiple times a year. That place would be packed and we would trash that bar. Good times.
Back in ‘99 I saw Primus (Antipop tour) with Incubus and Buckethead lol
@lestalkmorebasss hell yeah! I was him with bucket head one time too! He came out during my name is mud and did his nunchuck routine.
@@magincap70 yup 👍🏻 😂
Les the billy goat
About to see Les next week at Sessanta! Can't wait!
You're a beautiful man, Les! I feel bad for people that don't get your music! Truly a legend and icon! Keep it up! Your music is timeless!!
I’ll buy that ticket every time he comes around. No matter what band he is part of at the time. I will always love Primus but CLD and the Frog Brigade have been amazing shows. The farewell to kings tour was so nice I saw it twice. Rock on Les, the fans are here for it.
Couldn't agree more!
Yeah I've seen frog brigade several times , in Eugene actually and on the coastline they're amazing live They just rock so good though together You could throw lesson any lineup and he would rock lol
This man is a genius!
I love his video. Les Claypool touched my soul with his music as an innocent, young teenager before all the hard knocks of life, to now reach my soul to inner depths as I heal and reconnect with who I truly am. Thank you Les. I love you.
Absolute genius. One of a kind musician.
I sure appreciate you, Les Claypool! Thank you for the really fun music 🎶😄
I love him and Primus. Was just listening to them the other day.
No worries les People will always be waiting for more of those infectious tunes & bass groves
No image needed just Primus 🤘🏼🫶🏻🤘🏼
The way les claypool plays live just proves everything he says. He is a true musician. Seen primus a few times and they are amazing everytime. They did a tribute to Rush and they killed it. It was amazing.
I immediately thought of Rush during your 1st sentence, and there it was! Any band/musician given the go-ahead by the Triumvirate must be top quality. Saw Primus open for Rush in Atlanta ~ 92ish. Two of the best 3 pieces in the world, hard to top it!
Agreed. Music music music.
Never stop no matter what!
God, he’s so right. It’s about the music. I get that feeling when I’m playing my drums. Sometimes I totally forgot I’m streaming. And I just am in the beat.
Streaming?

Thank you Les!
I love les
Oysterhead is phenomenal. One of my favorite road trip bands.
We love you less. We love you for you, who you are as an artist, a writer, creator, musician, and just who you are. We love you dude!
I was so lucky growing up and getting to see live music every weekend in small town halls. Early 70s in Saskatchewan. Thanks Les
Me too. Love to go today but even nosebleed seating is $1k!
Your the best Les ...❤ your music
I’m super critical about a lot of musicians especially when someone says they were “the best” but this man hands down is the best bass player I’ve ever heard
I wish I got to see Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. Les is a damn genius.
Damn I need to find this whole interview. I just saw les with his frog Brigade and it was fucking mind altering. I haven't seen anyone Play 3 hours straight in a long long time
Dig his interview on Marc Maron's podcast
In my opinion, one of the best bass players to date… If you are able to look past his stage antics, you’ll know what I mean…. 💯💪🏻🎯🎶
Les, you're the best. I love your music no matter who you're surrounded by.
I really love some of his projects. His stuff with Sean Lennon is soooo good.
Yeah, when he collaborated with Trey for the first Oysterhead show in New Orleans, he embraced certain aspects of the jam band scene, and it got his creative juices flowing. Being able to do some improvising in a live setting, he became an even better musician than his earlier days in Primus. He started branching out creatively, and performing in a number of projects with different band members, which made for some great music. He brought that creativity with him when getting back to playing with Primus, and passion to something that had become a bit stale for a while. I saw a show from the Seas of Cheese tour, where they played the whole album. The improvised jamming they did with American Life blew us all away, as did for performing all the different versions of Southbound Pachyderm, and other classic songs. He’ll always be a favorite to see live, since he brings the heat every damn time.
Les... Living.
I love the Oyster Head show I was privilaged to catch in Utica . Les called out a fans sign and monologed it off the cuff and was hilarious and a 4eva memory 💪🧡
Les claypool and the Frog Brigade at Family affair festival on the Oregon coast many moons ago was rocking!
I discovered Primus in 2018, immediately hooked. I love everything Les and or Primus plays!
Mountain Aire fest 2000 was awesome. Only came to see the Frog Brigade that year in my hometown of Angels Camp, Ca. Last concert I went to was three years ago. Slayer's final show at the Forum. Primus kicked ass that night.
Best bassist and best energy....just the fucking best.
Les claypool you are one of the best bass players there is. What you play is amazing.
I learned to respect my lifestyle after hearing Fish On.
Thanks Les and Primus
Thank you for the AMAZING MUSIC
you are such a beautiful soul❤
Best bass player ever he changed music good job brother
I recently met a guy who was a roadie for iggy pop and he toured with primus when they only had one vinyl record with 3 or 4 songs on it and told me they would hand it out to anyone who wanted it.
He also said iggy would sweat a lot before he went on stage.
Love your work...
That's Our Les. 🎉
He knows Petaluma.
This is exactly the reason the Grateful Dead got so popular. By prioritizing musical expression and emotion over replaying that same plastic performance over and over. Of course, they weren't the first to do it, but they brought it to the mainstream masses. Thank you Pigpen, Jerry, Phil, Bob, Mickey, Bill, Donna, Kieth, Brent, Bruce, Vince, Tom, and everyone one else involved, for laying the groundwork for Les to build on.
Another person to just flat out refuse to acknowledge Vince's contributions to the band smh. I just don't understand it. Wether y'all like it or not his time in the band happened.🤣
@@bluecollar825 Added 😉 I'll have to put on a show of his in repentance.
@@grahamwilson8843 lol thanks. Might as well throw Pigpen in there while you're at it. I'd say Tom deserves a nod as well but what do I know. Take care friend.🤝
What. No Pig??
@@doodahman2995 Good catch sir. 👍
An incredible human being.
If it wasn't for Les getting into the jam band world i dont know if i would have gotten so into it. I remember going to the first or second Bonnaroo just because i saw that he was going to be playing. It was my first time going to a festival and it honestly changed my whole outlook on music
Good. Can't wait to see him for 50 more shows.
One of the best musicians on the planet! Pure genius!
Saw him on the Sessanta tour with Primus, Pussifer, and Perfect Circle. It was basically just 1 big jam sesh with the 3 bands taking turns and/or playing together on stage at the same time. It was one of the coolest experiences I've had. Definitely showcased the idea it's about the music and having fun.
Legend.
This is awesome, and I love everything Claypool puts out...I honestly do miss the harder side to Primus and his playing though
I love his way of thought.....& MUSIC....🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴😁😁😁💚💚👏👏👏ALOHA & MA UALo.
Gotta have fun playing for sure
Fred ate that stray and now he's going in stage looking like my dad and in love it
I love les claypool and the way he plays bass
I'm glad he was around in the 90s and friends with alot of grunge lead singers and most of them died of a preventable death. So I'm glad he found joy in performing again.
I feel like Les is the only person people are really willing to take chances. Every other band they want more new music but consistent to what made them famous
That is fuckin awesome! Les is the man. He belongs with us!
Love your music Les! Slap that bass!
He plays electric stand-up bass with a BOW- similar to a violin, etc.
pretty bad ass!! To say the least ….lol
We love you Les
Loved your amazing set at HSMF!!
“Would you guys maybe be still and stop kicking up the dust;)”
Love it when I see all walks enjoy all genres... the respect for the art is more important than the hair color or name of sneaker... I used to be the only B-Boy in CBGBs rocking out to Bad Brains and would see hardcore rockers in hip hop venues...
Les is such a true artist....
I've seen claypool almost 20 times maybe more I think I forgot lol I've worked and done the shows at McDonald's theater and in small venues and bars I've been to shows at where he played, thanks for your inspiration and all your music your notes and words always vibrate through my soul love Sean rocker the Walker
Wonderful
That's my favorite thing about this guy's music is he can EFFIN rip. Just free the beast and get him playing. Guy is Legend.
We love you les
I got t see Les do a solo set at Gathering of the Vibes. Just him for about 30-45 mu minutes, just him and his bass. It was the most amazing thing I've seen in my life.
