Pier trolley rig pier fishing the Carolinas we use primarily three baits. Bluefish, menhaden and pinfish. On the bluefish, I was taught by old timers how to king fish and they used a bluefish up to a couple pounds and I have noticed that the newer crowd thinks they are too big. I tell them, if your release and anchor can hold it, put it on! IMO the pinfish is the best bait though. Hearty, can swim hard all day. But the downside is if the blues are thick as soon as you put one in the water they cut the tail off of them.
One piece of advice from king mac fisherman, use smaller lures. Usually when that king is on the boat you see it spit out 1inch size bait fish which it was feeding on. But if your greedy for that 50 lb fish, then use a lure that will resemble a fish eating the smaller bait fish, go for something striped like a barracuda or spotted like spanish mac or even something with a little yellow resembles a small trevally
Warm up 2 pounds of cream cheese until soft, leave it out sealed in the package, try warming water or even nuke it, add a little dry garlic and onion, 1lb sour cream, 8oz mayo, scallions, but not to much, a little parsley. BANG!
Holly crap. I did exactly what you said like it was instinct before I saw this video. I was out fishing for Spanish and kings we lost an average size king on Saturday caught plenty of Spanish. After several hours I said to my wife and kids we got to get out of here move away from the crowd, tons of bait and small fish. I just felt like we would have better luck and bigger fish. We moved out to deeper water with no signs of activity and soon we had caught some larger fish.
We have been having really good king mackerel off Atlantic City and LBI. I'm literally watching this to go on Sat. You never saw them because no one targeted them till a decade ago. Trolling for bluefish is too slow and the usual tuna spread will only occasionally get a mackerel
Try Mackerel and Bacon skewers, cut Mackerel into cubes approx 3/4 inch square and thread onto skewers with squares of middle bacon rasher the same size and put on the char grill, if you are feeling adventurous you can marinade the skewers in French dressing for a half hour beforehand, sounds weird I know but it's delicious.
I Love this Guy , i am Swiss watched his Dolphins Seminar and catched Big , i had no Plan but with what he told - bang had my boat Full 💪 can u Book this Guy to go Fisching ???????
If we can’t find live bait we use dead ribbon fish do you like using them or can you suggest another strategy/bait if we can’t use live bait? I’m in jacksonville Fl so we use live pogies if available. Thank you. Daniel
Of course nothing beats live bait but yes, ribbonfish will do the trick. We don't use them down here that much at all but we do slow troll rigged ballyhoo and a ton of strip baits, fresh bonito strips and mullet strips. - Capt Mike
Thank you Captain. I will try to have some stripped bait and skirts as a backup as well. Love the show and advice you give alway very helpful.@@FloridaSportFishing
Great seminar thank you all the way from the middle east. Its very hard to find live bait down here un Kuwait, would lures be a good substitute and if it is which kind ?
Yes, lures would be a good substitute, DTX,Yozuris ,you can get those baits and they have different colors and they dive to different depths when trolled. There has to be a livebait to use, because the predators there are eating something or they are not going to be there, find out whats there that the predator fish are eating and find what you need to catch them, then use livebait rigs and slow troll or drift you baits.
I use different reels for different applications, Daiwa Saltiga 50H lever drag single speed for kite/live bait reels nowadays. Please make sure you join www.FSFTV.com, thanks! - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing I’m referring to gulfstream current predictions. I’ve heard people using apps that tell them how far from shore the edge of the gulf stream is. Thanks in advance.
Very interesting seminar.... but the bottle being knocked off a few times now and then in every seminars of your, irritated me a little, does anyone find the same? Cant someone remove all bottles from the room before your seminar?

I'm just a pelagic kayak fisherman in Hawaii so lots of these seminars aren't directly applicable but I find them fascinating nonetheless!
Your passion is evident. Thanks for the videos!

Captain, what do you use for current predictions?
Regarding weather/marine forecasts? What are you referring to? - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing I’m referring to gulfstream current predictions. I’ve heard people using apps that tell them how far from shore the edge of the gulf stream is. Thanks in advance.

Do you have any suggestions on casting lures for kingfish
Stickballs work well you can also catch them on shiny spoons, however hard to beat live bait or fresh strip baits. - Capt Mike
Thanks
