You know you have a good quality can opener when you are sweating after opening the can. Also you have a refreshing beverage after all the sweating. Normal people: uh just pop the top and drink like a normal person :P
I've opened the top on many beer cans and using a ordinary side cut can opener works quite well without having the top fall in your drink. Not that I've felt the need to do it every time I drink a beer mostly cause I would use the empty can to remelt/cycle candle wax
A lot of the products you review seem like solutions in search of problems... but this takes it to the next level. First of all, I'm not sure I can buy into the initial premise of the whole "sniff and sip" enjoyment of beer. However, even if that's a thing, the whole "drop the top into the can" is just beyond silly. They clearly couldn't figure out a way around it, so they just said no, that's normal. You're supposed to do that. The whole thing just comes of as incredibly low-brow when the entire premise of the device is supposed to be high-brow. Reminds me of the pull-tab days when people would drop their tabs in their cans and then choke on them.
Heh. It doesn't make a difference whether you drink from a can, glass or bottle. Could argue that a glass gives a smoother, more direct flow with greater volume. But if you're just looking to get drunk really fast, beer's the wrong choice! Try one of those girly drinks. Or a Caesar. They pack a _lot_ of alcohol. One will equal about 2 beers. Or just do a couple shots.
maggPi Prime Well, I personally do straight vodka, but I can’t fathom why else anyone drinks besides to turn their brain off for a couple of hours. Lol
@@AROAH Straight vodka will definitely turn your brain off for a bit! As for drinking with goals other than temporary oblivion, I like certain whiskies, a cool g&t, and some ciders are nice. A good, hoppy beer will have citrusy flavor ranging from oranges to grapefruit. The only time where I can see this product being useful is when you're out hardcore camping. You use this to turn your can into a mini pot to cook out of.
Although, if you have virtually any knife, you could do the same thing. Not as tidy perhaps. But effective enough if the best option is to cook out of a can.
Would be better that the handle had a hook to hook the pull tab and get the top out completely. i guess this device makes more sense then a regular can opener. Then again.... if you wanted a solution to this.... they should have invented something like the can openers for fruits and veggies that undo the seams on cans rather then (i guess it's) slicing the can. i don't know if that is possible for drinking cans though....
I have never once had an issue tasting the beer I was drinking, whether from a can, a bottle, or a glass :-/ smh Love watching your videos, James! You've just got the right panache about you lol.
I like that even when a product isn't good, he's still nice about it. Other RUclipsrs play the rage card for laughs; it's refreshing that he doesn't go that way.
Everyone saying "use a glass" or "why would you use this"? IT'S FOR WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A GLASS. Do you take a pint glass with you when you go kayaking? Do you take one with you to the beach? THIS IS FOR THOSE TIMES. Obviously drinking out of a proper glass is better. This is for when you don't have a glass or don't want to bring one along. I use this to drink IPAs and craft beers when I'm out on the sand playing volleyball and it's awesome for that. Way better than just drinking out of the can in my opinion. Edit: Also it takes a bit of practice to use. The first few times are tough, then you get the feel of it and can open a can in just a few seconds. The handle part is not for "poking" either. It has notches in it so it can be used as a lever on the side of the can. It allows you to push the top down with good force without getting the splash. And they're wrong saying you can use it for opened cans, no. It only works well on unopened cans that still have the pressure inside.
Fresh top caps are AWESOME!!! I have them but here’s a tip: to get them off just squeeze the can and it’ll pop off!! Lol! Tip#2 don’t try to put the fresh tops on a half drank can of pop because it’ll bend and you’ll get splashed and ruin your can - put it on a freshly opened can/drink that way it is more solid
I see alot of people complaining about the top going into the drink. You could rotate it untill the top is all the way off and just pull it out by the tab. Or just rotate it enough so there's just a small bit left where you can just pull it out. You just make sure the opener is laying flat so each cutter isn't at different angles. Then there's people noting that you have to release the pressure but you don't as it's optional. I don't get why they had to make tutorial videos for it. It's has a top shaped hole and a squeeze grip. You'd figure most people could figure it out. I know this isn't really necessary as it's for people looking for convenience in not needing to use a cup while still having more drink flow.
I love my draft top especially when drinking IPA's out of a can. Plus it's more of a "wow!" factor with people at parties rather than practicality. One thing I noticed is you did not try opening the cans while set against a surface until the wine. My personal experience is also holding from the top whilst also having the can against a table helps. Is it needed? Absolutely not. Do I regret buying mine? Absolutely not. Great video as always hope you're doing well!
I actually have one of these, and there's a little finesse to opening cans but it's actually pretty easy to get the top out and honestly, it's a much better experience. Plus the cans can be washed out and turn out to be really incredibly useful as little disposable cups or pencil holders or disposable beakers for whatever (Mixing paint!). I'm finding it hilarious how hard he's finding this because... well I *have* one and I have so very few problems! XD
The way to improve this 10x is to make you open the tab of the can and have this tool have a hook/latch that goes into the can and the when you rotate it to cut the top off, it lets you rip the top part completely out of the can. I hate the idea of the top just swimming in the drink and also the splash that it creates when you break it in is dumb.
Seems like they’re on the right track. Maybe if there was a way to permanently mount a lever (perhaps a small tab you could pry up on) onto the top of the can, and then pre cut a weak spot in the lid so the lever could easily punch a hole in it? That way you could drink the liquid without really compromising the integrity of the can.
One of the primary functions of the top, is to keep stuff out of your beer that you don't want going into it. So, this device says, screw that, put all the crap/dust/dead bugs, and drop them right into your beer. Great idea. Can't wait to get that extra flavor and bacteria in my beer.
i have one and it is a learning curve for sure. but if you watch the videos from the inventor on how to use it you get the hang of it real fast. now i love this thing and it saves on washing more dishes later
Couple observations after watching the actual tutorial on the draft top page. 1.) I think he does make it look easier than it probably is for the first few times. 2.) He mentions that applying too much pressure actually makes it harder to open. 3.) He used an alternating twisting method. A 1/4 turn one way. Then a 1/4 back the other way. I think it's not a perfect product. But it also seems like you did it not as advertised to be used.
Once upon a time, some 30+ years ago, I worked at an egg farm. 1.25 million birds. There was a soda can machine. The guy who filled it, he filled many machines, but he also worked a regular 40hr week in the chicken houses there. He'd park between the houses, and all the cans were in cases in the back of his truck. Obviously, some manure ended up in the back of his truck. At that point you start to wonder where the cans are before they're in the store or in the machine. Hmm. I've never drank anything out of a can since without at least wiping the top, including the crease around. When I saw the lid in the can, that was the end of the video for me.

If they bring a pitcher of something, or need a glass of water, BOOM! awesome looking cup that doesn't go to the landfill or recycling center. It DOES leave sharp edges and even metal shavings in the drink, so I'd never use it for it's intended purpise, but with a little sand paper it perfectly met the reason I got it (even if it's a slight pain, it's worth it since I plan to keep the cups for a long time).
James, who's going to drink all that beer now? 😉

Used to do this with just a can opener as a kid. Never had an issue with that...
Too bad there’s not an easy way to put a smaller hole in the top of a can that you could drink the beer out of...✌🏻🇺🇸
A lot of the products you review seem like solutions in search of problems... but this takes it to the next level.
Woooooo a new review what a great day for a review from James. Love the channel keep up the great work and stay safe
After having an in depth convo with my nasal region, I concluded that this problem doesn't actually exist, appreciate the review tho
Don’t you usually drink beer straight from the can to get drunk? If you want to pretend there’s art to it, that’s what glasses are for.
I don't like getting blackout drunk, it's the worst feeling I've had next to an accidental poisoning I once experienced.
"The can is open already I just have to drink out of it!" That really got me 🤣🤣🤣
The only time where I can see this product being useful is when you're out hardcore camping. You use this to turn your can into a mini pot to cook out of.
Although, if you have virtually any knife, you could do the same thing. Not as tidy perhaps. But effective enough if the best option is to cook out of a can.
Nice, I was wondering on getting this gadget thankfully you made a video on it! Great video as usual James!
I solved the beverage can opening problem decades ago: "I use a mug." 😊
A perfect way to get absolutely drunk!... " I'm just testing my can opener!" ..... "Sure!" :D
I have never once had an issue tasting the beer I was drinking, whether from a can, a bottle, or a glass :-/ smh
Love watching your videos, James!
I've never seen a topless can that needed to be open therefore I have no need for a topless can opener 😂
step one; open the beer. step two; pour the beer into a glass.
Can we just appreciate the effort he puts into every video! 500k coming soon!
Fishing around in the beer to get a sharp-edged lid out might be dangerous!
That was challenging at least
Lesson learned: Pour the beer into a glass.
the can becomes incredibly flimsy without the top
Fresh top caps are AWESOME!!! I have them but here’s a tip:
to get them off just squeeze the can and it’ll pop off!! Lol! Tip#2 don’t try to put the fresh tops on a half drank can of pop because it’ll bend and you’ll get splashed and ruin your can - put it on a freshly opened can/drink that way it is more solid
I feel like these could drop aluminum particles into the drink and it gives me shivers
i look at that open can and imagine my bleeding lip. plus there is no way a drunk dude could use that.
I have a topless can opener..my girlfriend.
Please send her over. I have an entire tray to be opened. ;-)

Not the topless I was expecting from Vegas.
Luckily there are proper topless cans available.
If you really want to, a regular can opener for food products also works fine and universally with beer cans with a tenth of the effort
I hate this gadget. No one asked for it, and it doesn’t even do it’s “job”.
Ah here be a DRINKING GAME.
Shot or drink each time he says...CAN(S)...🍻
this is a terrible product ... it should never existed
Complete garbage. I'll stick with a frosted mug.
Just like some Modern cars today over-engineered and unnecessary.
Which parts overengineer and unnecessary?
@@samewish do you mean for a car or this can opener?

My first thought was,”Gee, I wonder if there any slivers of aluminum left in the can”
I actually have one of these, and there's a little finesse to opening cans but it's actually pretty easy to get the top out and honestly, it's a much better experience.
Some refreshing aluminum and plastic shavings in your frosty beer.
"Aaaahhh!!! Defective cans! ...Aaaahhh!!! More defective cans!" (Steve Martin in "The Jerk", I think?)
This is your first video that made me laugh. Good job!
All I kept thinking was about the storys of rats peeing on cans at the factory and then the top going into the beer/soda. No thanks! :)
Canned wine? Be prepared for FLACK from the wine crowd haha.
Ermal Fraze here in Dayton, Ohio invented the pop-top can. Don't over-think things. Just enjoy your beer and go about your life. :-D
One of the primary functions of the top, is to keep stuff out of your beer that you don't want going into it. So, this device says, screw that, put all the crap/dust/dead bugs, and drop them right into your beer. Great idea.
Can't wait to get that extra flavor and bacteria in my beer.
The crackling sounds indicate you've gone around it a 2nd time. U have to go around the top 2 whole times.
Thanks for reviewing this! I got one a month or so ago and had a bunch of trouble with it. So I always wondered if I did it wrong or what
i have one and it is a learning curve for sure. but if you watch the videos from the inventor on how to use it you get the hang of it real fast. now i love this thing and it saves on washing more dishes later
If it held the top of the can within the opener for a lift and remove motion once cut, that might be good. As designed, it's a fail.
A normal manual can opener will do a perfect job doing this.
