I used this video last year to change my filters on my 2019 and it worked flawlessly! I also ordered that part you broke from the same place in Florida off of ebay as a "just in case". Fortunately i did not need it (as of yet!). I am getting ready to change out the filters again, so I watched this video again as a refresher! I salute you sir!
I've watched several of the 6.7 Powerstroke fuel filter replacement videos on RUclips. Yours is the first one I have found that was worth a flip. Good job and thanks for being honest about breaking your fitting. The only thing I could add to you video is placing a shop rag under the fittings on the filter under the hood before removing them. Again, great job with your video.
5-28-24. I am not too mechanical inclined. My first time ever to change fuel filters on my 2017 F250 diesel. This video was very easy to follow and right on. There were two areas that were a little more for me. There was a lot more diesel drainage from the bottom filter than the video indicates. And, for me, the blue clip on the top filter gave me the most trouble to disengage. But for sure a thumbs up on the video
Just did mine this morning, the tip on pushing the side tabs on the return line connector was money. Appreciate it. I cycled my pumps 8 times and had a small amount of noise but it started right up. Appreciate you!
My 17 is a tow vehicle in the desert. The oil and filter are changed every 5k. The air and fuel filters are changed every 10k. 81k, no issues. Some say that's a waste of money but it works for me. Used the same schedule on my previous truck...a Duramax. Nice job on the video.
Great how to video! Nice SuperDuty! We have the 6.0 PowerStroke in our 2005 F350. 15 years later, we finally have all the bugs worked out (knock on wood), and it's been reliable.
I wish I would have watched your video first. The one I watched didn't explain this for the return line and I broke it off. Did a McGuyver repair to get it home and order a new clip.I think my McGuyver fix might be better! lol Use a piece of 3/8 fuel line with 2 hose clamps. It fits over the barb on the filter and fits over the hose with the broken barb still in it so the clamp doesn't collapse the fuel line. Tightened both clamps and drove it home. Nice video. Thanks
Awesome video! Wish I would have found this earlier.I got 3/8 fuel line put it over the top stock fuel line with hose clamp and put two hose clamps on the return side of the filter until my part came.
Very interesting...and the design is good, but they sure missed making that small piece for replacement then to purchasing the whole unit...those goofball engineers...yes I get to say that because I was an engineer for 20 years. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend 👍😁💗
I seen that classy off grid toilet you sent Ernie and now I want one lol 😂 I don’t have a big baller truck so I’m not gonna finish watching this one lol 😂 Still wanted to say have a blessed day Timmy 😄
That is a super clean truck. I'm a car person but that's a nice looking truck, Tim😁 Replacing the air filter every 30k like you recommend. Gotta get the hubatin to check my filter😆
Had one person get frustrated replacing they're air filter I guess and decided to install it 180° in the other direction, so the pre-filter was on the fender side. Needless to say that air filter lasted all of a few thousand miles! 😃
FYI, my 2019 does not have a red connector on the right side fuel intake, but green with tabs on each side and 2 barbs that have to be pushed through to open the connector.
Hi Ridge, I have a 2018 Ford lariat 6.7 250. and I was leaking out of diesel under the tank near where I changed the fuel filter and I was wondering if it was because I didn't change it on time, I think I let it go longer than I should have.
Good video but DO NOT assume the fuel will stop running as you drain the fuel water separator! Mine kept running and filled a whole bucket while I walked away and wasted a couple gallons of fuel as I just drained it into an old dirty bucket as I thought it would only be a little. There was also a shower of fuel as I dropped the cartridge for the filter and got fuel all over my driveway. Take away....it did not stop flowing with valve open on the fuel/water separator so keep an eye on and close it up after a quart or so.
Ya, I let it drain and walked away for a while and couldn't believe how much came out of the drain and then the dousing I got after dropping the cartridge. I am glad you mentioned the part about how careful you have to be with the return line!
@@BillyHarrellH20 you’re saying to open the actual diesel fuel cap where you fill up, before releasing the water separator? I’ve seen a lot of comments on other videos saying they’ve basically emptied multiple gallons out of their tank because a vacuum is or can be created. They’ve mentioned other more difficult solutions but you’re saying just open the fuel cap and that prevents the vacuum that leads to dumping unnecessary fuel?

Great advice on the brown connector. I'm sure I would have broken it if I hadn't watched this video first.
Glad it helped!

What's the link for the Florida Diesel Parts place for the return line fix? Nice video
Thanks,

Sorry. I got it off eBay some time ago.
Great job 👍

Naw that shouldn’t effect it. If it’s near the cartridge, I’d check the seal.

What do you do with the fuel drained from the lower filter?
I add it to spent oil and use for fire starting. Shh!!!
A better 1st step I have found is remove fuel cap 1st. Otherwise you may get a lot more fuel dump than if removing cap 1st.
Good point! Thank you

Beautiful truck Tim. Just what trade did you learn to make a buck in the past.🥰👍
Thanks! I was a Nuclear Engineering Tech in the Navy before getting into Electrical Automation in the Steel Industry. I have been doing it for 23yrs.
How has that ebay Florida part held up after all this time?
Perfectly!
So what do you do with the fuel you drain out?
I add to old oil to recycle or use to burn brush.
What eBay store did you buy this from....? Can't order without those details

2017+ 6.7L OEM Ford Powerstroke Fuel Filter Return Line Connector Fitting (3846)
US $39.95
What is the trick to get the collar to open up. I dont want to break it
One pinches and one slides and the clamps
I know I broke it not knowing
Do u have any probles with the new adapter.. I read alot of bad comment about those amazon Quick connectors
So far, no! They said this was one taken from OEM assembly though.
Can you say where you got the new OEM part and part number. I wouldn’t mind getting one to have in hand.
Most from Amazon or Rock Auto. I showed the part numbers at the beginning. Sorry don’t have them offhand.
For the connector, I got it from eBay place in FL. Sorry. Don’t recall the vendor.
I did the same thing but mine broke a week later on the freeway
Ugh that’s terrible!
Mine still makes some racket after 6 times priming?
Yeah mine does too. Runs fine though.
How many miles have you gone already with the new adapter? Thanks!
I’ve got 20k miles on it. I’m gonna get a spare just in case as I will be changing the filter again soon.
@@RidgeLife do you have a link to this item?
