    For Polaris 360 Set-up, Review and Tips: • Polaris 360 Setup, Rev...
    This video shows how to set the Polaris RPM. Proper installation is important as the Polaris 360 has a very small window of return pressure strength to get it moving properly. Too little return pressure and the Polaris 360 will not move around the pool and pick up debris. Too little water pressure will also cause the Back-up Valve to engage more often and for longer periods of time which also will hamper the Polaris 360's cleaning ability.
    On the flip side, too much RPM or return pressure could cause damage to your filter elements so the proper return pressure going through your Polaris is critical.
    If your POLARIS 360 is not moving at all:
    Check to see if Quick Disconnect is clogged or broken (water shooting out)
    Check hoses for leaks
    Make sure Back-up valve is working (if water is continuously shooting out it has failed)
    Check to see if wheels spin, if not, could be the bearings or the Belt is worn.
    A tubing may have come loose inside the Polaris

    On the wall quick disconnect there is a black dot. That is a regulator for pressure. You can open that up and relieve some of the water pressure. It should be hand tight. Just open it until the Polaris RPM's are lower. There are also inserts for the quick disconnect, a red and blue disk with a small hole in it. They can also regulate the pressure.

    Not sure. As for as the quick disconnect question you had -I do have one account that it shoots water out off even when it is closed off. It is plumbed in kinda weird - when the pool was remodeled they cut the polaris line on accident so the builder just spliced the polaris line into the return line with a jandy valve. That one shoots water in even when in is closed completely. I am a bit stumped.

    Than you for the video! 10 minutes and my stopped up Polaris is back to cleaning the pool and I didn't have to call a pool guy :) From someone as mechanically inept as I am, that is quite an accomplishment.

    You can run it without it with no ill effects. It may get hung up in some areas -or it may not. Maybe adjust the hoses a bit shorter to avoid certain areas if possible.

  • @SPL
    @SPL  11 лет назад +2

    Optimal is 28-32 RPM. This one still works good on 25 RPM. The pool is spotless each week. A little faster is better.

    Check the screen in the quick disconnect - It could be clogged with filter element or dirt. Usually when a filter is swapped out stuff gets into the return lines.

    No matter what I do I cannot get the hose connection points not to leak which lowers my RPM. I know very well how they fit on and how to tighten them. They still all leak. I even bought a new hose to see if it would help. It was worse! Worse!! Sometimes a quick chiropractic jerk slows the leaks.
    I'm convinced at this point it is a totally flawed design or perhaps defectively manufactured components. It's really a shame because the 360 is an amazing pool cleaner. I get by and it works, but that loss of RPM due to the leaking connections is really sad. Thanks for your great videos. Best on the youtube by far!

      Thanks for the great feedback. I would call Fluidra on this and see if they have some ideas. If it is still under warranty maybe they will send you out a new hose set. 800-822-7933 - Fluidra is the parent company of Polaris

    Could be a bearing issue if the cleaner is getting old. The Polaris is probably not getting enough wheel RPMs to get up the hill to the shallow end. That is my first guess when the cleaner is moving in one area but not covering the whole pool. It could also be the belts getting old or the swivels not working properly.

  • @DanburyConnecticut

    also make sure the other return has a flow restrictor on it. if there is nothing screwed into the other return that might be your prob. need more pressure going to the polaris return.

    Sounds like the belt is bad inside. It is a fairly easy repair. I have a video on how to do this in the "Polaris Playlist" on my Channel. It looks more daunting the nit actually is...

  • @SPL
    @SPL  11 лет назад

    Probably the belt inside is broken or stretched out. Two rubber belts move this thing along. They wear out and then the Polaris can no longer move. I've got a video on that on my Channel in the Polaris playlist.

  • @SPL
    @SPL  11 лет назад

    Those 360 hoses are tough to get on correctly. I think it is a matter of having the hoses on correctly and those nuts tight. If not some water will leak out. If it is not effecting the cleaner then I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. I also have trouble getting the hoses on correctly.

    Those swivels go bad over time. It is also very hard to get that hose over those swivels - I know from experience. You probably need to by new swivels. They are about $15.00 each. To purchase a complete new hose with everything is like $200.00. In that case you might as well get a new cleaner. So I suggest just replacing the broken swivels. If they leak then they are worn out.

    Would it be OK to run my polaris 360 without the back-up valve attached? I realize that I may have an issue with the cleaner getting stuck in a corner, but would there be any other problems if I did this? I just find that this back-up valve fails/needs to be replaced so much and overall does more to slow down the cleaner than help it. Thank you for your helpful videos.

    I hadn't noticed that I was having trouble with my Polaris 360 until the pool guy who came out to replace my lights mentioned that it appeared that there was a problem with the belt and suggested I take it into the pool store and they would replace the belt for me. So, I did but they said when they opened it up that many parts where broken so I paid for them to replace everything they said needed replacing. Since this repair, I've been unable to get the wheels to move at all. I've brought it back multiple times and each time they've opened it up and either replaced something else or made an adjustment (gears, belts, weight, swivels, etc). This last time I picked it up they said that if it still isn't working it has to be something with my system as they've replaced everything in the Polaris. What I don't understand is that I've made no adjustments to my system since I originally took it in. The wheels moved just fine before I took it in so I struggle to think that it is my system. But I also don't want to drop money on a new Polaris if in fact it is my system somehow. You mention plugging returns. We had the pool built 8yrs ago and I've never had to adjust any of the jets to get the Polaris to move. This Polaris is 3yrs old. My first one lasted 5yrs before I threw it out (prior to understanding that they can be worked on). There appears to be plenty of pressure getting to the Polaris as the tail whips rather strongly and I can see the water pressure coming up through the bag. There is also plenty of suction on the bottom of the Polaris that I can feel when putting my hand under it. The wheels will move if I manually move them with my hands. The wheels will just not move when relying solely on the system. Given these symptoms, trusting that the pool store really has done everything they can do with the Polaris unit and knowing that I've not had to adjust anything in my system in the prior 8yrs of operating a Polaris, do you have suggestions for me?

The unscrewed the connection from the pool wall and found a lot of debris caught in the mesh net inside the connector. Our filter had to be replaced due to it cracking. So the system was offer for a week. Today when we turned the filter back on and then turned the Polaris 360 back on, the Polaris would not move. Their is pressure going into the hose from the wall, but it sounds like a hissing or blow by noise. Do I need to get the air out of the line or something else?

    My wheels aren’t turning (380) when I suspend it in water. But when I put it on the deck, they turned though not super fast. I replaced the wheels and bearings, UWF and backup valve and the base and belts and tail (close to everything). Water comes out a little stronger than a hose when I disconnect it. When I took off the section with the wheels off the base, the wheels turned very well and sounded nice. The wheels didn’t freely keep spinning, only when I put force to them. I noticed there aren’t any floats near the backup valve and I think the weight of the valve is making it go nose down and get stuck. I’ll try fixing that next. Any other ideas? About the only things left is the pump and hose.

      Check the screen in the wall quick disconnect. Usually that is what will stop it. The Pressure Relief Valve could also be broken - the debris screen is located in this part. That is step one. Here is a schematic for you: viewer.zmags.com/publication/b0fd95ee#/b0fd95ee/292

      Sorry to hear about that, very sad. Sounds like the Polaris 360 doesn't have enough pressure coming to it - maybe the filter is dirty or the pump basket needs to be emptied. You can also try adjusting the rear thruster to point up so the water pushed the Polaris down in back. I know this sounds like a lot so maybe call a local pool company to come out and look at it for you. If it was me there would be no charge for the visit.

      You have it connected to the wrong part of the pool. It needs to be threaded into your pools return line - this is the part of the pool that returns that water - this cleaner works off of the water coming back into the pool. It will not work connected to the skimmer.

Is there another fitting or an adapter of some kind sold by Polaris that works with the wall fitting or in place of the wall fitting that produces a higher pressure? My Polairs 360 is 3 years old and is running at about 26 revolutions. My pump is 1 1/2 HP and I have zero water features but still the pressure is like just above 15 pounds to my Polaris. Depends. Check the wall connector - there is a screen in there. Maybe it is full of debris.

      Sorry -I misread that. There is a Allen screw that controls the flow to the tail. Try opening it up and see if that works.

    my Polaris 360 is 'flying', moving too fast...how can I correct this?

      On the wall connector you will see a knob with a black dot on it. You can open that up to relieve some of the water pressure going to the cleaner. Or if you have an attached spa you can turn the valve to give the spa more return and this will also reduce the speed.

      Tipster--I had a Polaris 380 that was running too fast as well. My cleaner was barely running; I took it to a local pool supply shop and a guy there rebuilt it for me in about 30 minutes. The possible fixes for a cleaner that's running too fast are to make sure you have a BLUE restrictor plate on the back of the UWF; if you do, they suggest you remove the UWF and replace the blue restrictor with the red one**. If that doesn't work, you can close the Pressure Relief Valve (on the Quick Disconnect) which provides water pressure to the Polaris. Turning this knob clockwise closes it, diverting water pressure AWAY from the Polaris feed tube. This water pressure is released into the pool in the immediate vicinity of the UWF; you will know this is occurring by the increase of bubbling water at the surface. You can further reduce water pressure going to the Polaris by turning the Allen hex cap screw at the rear of the cleaner (where the sweep hose is attached) in a counterclockwise manner. This diverts water pressure from the Polaris to the sweep hose to increase its sweeping action, which slows the forward motion of the Polaris. You can start by trying each of these until you find what mix of these parameters works best in your situation. **I would hold off on replacing the blue disk with the red until the very end. It's difficult to remove the UWF (which is plastic) w/o chewing it up with Channelocks or breaking it during removal; the other fixes I've described are easy to accomplish with little effort. If it had previously been working fine with the blue restrictor in place, you should pass on this fix altogether.

      +Beverly Ash Polaris 360 is a return side cleaner so it connects to a return jet. So let e start here. Is that where you have it connected?
