Also a Nova Scotia stitcher, not a doc but worked in child psychiatry for over 20 years, now retired. Do you know about Charting Creations , a Nova Scotia supplier, her name is Nikki and she lives in Sackville, NS and has tons of charts she designs from artists works, with their permission. She also carries quite a lot of stock and if she doesn’t have what you want she will get it for you. She kits up projects for people as well and is very good to her local Stitcher’s. She’s even getting Lowry stands shipped in for us. There are a couple of stitching groups in or around Halifax, some very strict rules but my favourite is a group that meet in Dartmouth on Saturdays in a church basement. It’s casual, it starts around 9 am and goes to 3 or 4, you can go for as much or as little time as you’d like. There is a kitchen you can use or several nearby places to eat out. It’s a great bunch of Stitcher’s, some of them attend retreats that are held in New Brunswick a couple of times a year. They are put on my the needlework shop in Moncton, they will also ship products but don’t have an online catalogue, you email them and tell them what you’re looking for and they ship it to you. Like Nikki if they don’t have it they will order it in for you. You may already know all this but just in case you don’t here it is. Any questions I can answer I’m happy to. I haven’t been able to go to stitch group for about a year now due to family needs and I really miss them. I live near Peggy’s Cove so cant just hop on a bus to get there😩. I loved seeing all your work, you’re an amazing stitcher🥰. I was on a hiatus for the past year or so, my itch to stitch just left me but about 2 weeks ago it came back and I finished And a Forest Grew which made me very happy. I love their patterns too but have only stitched that one, time to choose another I think😂🤣. I don’t make vids but am on Instagram with this name. I haven’t been posting much there lately either, I have winter depression and I’m so looking forward to spring and summer. I’ll be watching your videos though, I’m always happy to find another NS stitcher.
Thank you so much for all of this helpful information!!!! I just checked out Nikki's website - her prices are so reasonable! And I have heard of the Dartmouth group of stitchers - my problem is that I work two weekends a month & it always seems that the stitching day falls on the weekend I'm working!! And A Forest Grew is a HUGE accomplishment - congrats on the big finish! Here's hoping the weather gets warmer & sunnier soon - nothing like sunshine to help perk up the mood a bit (I can't wait for daylights savings next week!)
Your FlossTube channel popped into my feed today as a suggestion. The "MD" tag in your RUclips handle was the hook. Fellow healthcare-employed human here. It is unfortunate that you weren't "born in 1988," as it was a very good year (imho)! Guessing you're early 90s-born by way of your already vast xstitch experience. Your pieces are lovely, and your wit preceded your affirmation of doctoral creds. You have your own, unique style which is not only inspiring, but impressive. "Back before you were born..." someone taught me to stitch in college (the "cutesy early 80's period" for patterns... which is what we called them back then). Will continue to follow. Congratulations on your (now) marriage. Thank you for your dedication to both your patients and your craft. Be sure to fill us in on all that is Nova Scotia; I have a vested interest and would love to learn more about area culture. --From the Midwest, U.S. :)
What a wonderful video. And how beautiful your stitching is. Thank you so much for sharing all of your beautiful work! Honey, before you struggle any more with large count linen, get yourself a magnifying light for your stitching spot. You will not regret it and will save your sight and sanity!!!
Xstitchmd check amazon...i have several. Mighty brite is about 80 bucks and there is also one with wheels that is about 40 bucks or so but you have to weight the bottom with sand so it is more stable. If you were in the US I would just send you one, but gettings things to Canada is a challenge for me. I have a cousin in Calgary so perhaps it is just that area!
You, young lady are an absolutely gifted stitcher. I sit in my chair and watch you and I am just blown away by your very large pieces. Personally I’m old enough to be your mother, haha😁. and have really not stitched for that many years but I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much.
Totally cracked up when you said you loved the little bald kid on All Creatures Great and Small. He was the first part I focused on. Absolutely adorable!
SSP glad to stumble across your channel! Can’t wait to watch them all!! I totally want to do the Begin from Bent Creek!!! Your wips are amazing!!! Give me inspiration for my Flosstube channel!!
Oh, my goodness! I have been following your channel for a few months. Why did I ever decide to go back to the beginning?! My list of designs to stitch has grown tremendously! Lol We must have very similar taste in designs because I haven't found one yet that I didn't adore. I appreciate the links because now I have discovered new shops to check out regularly. I need to stitch faster!! Lol
Girl you are AMAZING! And INSPIRING!! Kindred stitcher called you out and I am soo glad!! She said you probably have the best French knots on the planet being an MD and I bet she’s right!! Keep the videos coming, your awesome ❤️
Hi - heard you mentioned by a few floss tubers now, so figured i should look you up. My habit is to binge your like you’re on Netflix so look out for random comments on old episodes hahaha - loved all your on the wall framed pieces, so pretty! - take care, Nic in New Zealand x
You are too cute! I've been following you for awhile now on IG but have only watched your floss tube now! Anyway love ALL your WIPS and stitching finishes and planned starts!
Congrats on your new channel, you did a great job. I live in Maine and I love the Maritimes, I'm so jealous you get to live there. I crossed the border last summer and the customs agent asked how long I was staying in Canada and I told her 4 days but I wish it was forever. Old school huh? I stitched the Motif Sampler back in 1989...lol. Keep up the good work.
Canada is the best, but I am totally biased lol. I was in Saint John, NB for 2 months for work last year & meant to get over to Maine, but it didn't quite happen. I heard it's beautiful!!
I love your enthusiasm! And your cross stitch is gorgeous. I'm 53 and I have had to resort to using 3.0 readers in the past several years. I don't like it, but hey, it keeps me stitching. I can't go lower than 32/16 count however. I too love the quaker images. Good luck with your channel and I look forward to the next video!
Love your Modern Folk you are working on. I have been looking at his 2020 sal and after seeing your gray fabric with ecru floss is making me want to pull the trigger and get it. In 2008 I did a New England quilt cruise and we stopped in Halifax and Sydney. While there I happened on a quilt show and they were showing the Nova Scotia Heritage quilt and told me where I could buy the pattern. It is all hand appliqué which I have been working on and off....some day it will get done. Too many projects🤣.
Hello from NL, fellow Canadian! Great wip parade! So many! Looking forward to watching your progress even though I found you just now I want to watch from the beginning!
I'm also Canadian, also a doc, also in love with all things rosewood manor (doing summer quaker while watching). Anyways, I'm so impressed that you've kept up with stitching while in residency! That was definitely my stitching drought period. But I'm subscribed and looking forward to the next video.
Wonderful first flosstube video! Your stitching is amazing and I look forward to seeing your next video. Happy belated birthday to you! Happy stitching! 😊
Hello from Ontario. I just found your channel via another Flosstuber so really happy to see a fellow Canadian showing such amazing work! I also love samplers but do not do as many of them as you do. Your work is exceptional! Love the All Creatures Great and Small. I live about an hour west of Ottawa and not really a local needlework store near me except a fabric store that does carry some supplies but limited. I prefer to work from a pattern rather than a PDF so would REALLY appreciate knowing any Canadian sources you have to get mail order patterns. I have just placed first order to 123Stitch and yes, the shipping is close to being reasonable. Thanks so much. I now look forward to watching all your Flosstube videos, likely in order, as I like order and method. Cheers.
Thanks for watching!! Traditional Stitches is an awesome Canadian store that I order from often! (and I am also a “watch from the beginning” type of person 😊)
Hi, I enjoyed watching your first floss tube. I really like all your projects. Your stitching is beautiful. I’m a Rosewood Manor fan. I’m not ready to tackle one, I just started stitching again after a long, long hiatus. I’ll be tuning in to watch. Happy belated birthday 🥳
Shiloh, a belated Happy Birthday to you! I hope you had a really fun day! Thank you for making this lovely FT....I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful projects. You are an inspiration to all of us!
Welcome to flosstube! I haven't had a chance to watch all of your video but thoroughly enjoyed what I watched so far. Such beautiful pieces! I looking forward to watching the rest and seeing more. 😍 Enjoy your stitching.
I’m so excited to see you on FlossTube! I’m no longer on IG, but remember how I think we have the same taste in patterns. I love everything you’re stitching! You can finish Summer Flowers in Green by your 10th wedding anniversary 😂. My goal is to have walls full of stitching like you!! And Happy Birthday!! 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
Great to have a new Canadian Flosstuber! Love the projects that you have showed, your taste is really close to mine!!! Can't wait to see your next Flosstube. In the meantime will follow you on Instagram.
Jan Hicks gave you a shout out so I’ve come to see you! Love your first video! You have some great projects, both finished and in progress. Looking forward to video number 2!
Great first video! Amazing how much you can accomplish while still finishing your studies. Thanks for sharing your stitching and looking forward to your next video!
Love your stitching & so surprised to see Mary Gary, "The Fishing Lady". I have many of the Mary Gary charts but not this one so will have to go to Stash Unload & watch for her patterns. Cute stitch. Thx so much for sharing all of your pieces. Paula/Nana in Midland, TX
I don’t mean to be an enabler 🤣, but there is also “French Garden”, “English Garden”’s companion piece, and it is gorgeous! In case you haven’t seen it. I have both in my stash. And I also love Rosewood Manor. My daughter is an LCSW-I’m thinking she needs that brain for her office wall, too! Thanks for the video!
SewCal Stitcher yes!!! I love love love French Garden & have it on my wish list 😊. And the brain would be a perfect piece for your daughter! Thanks for watching!
What amazing stitching - and such a sweet shout out, thank you! 💞 It was Krafty Kim who stitched that Black Lace Sampler and it is STUNNING, YOU WILL LOVE IT 😍
Off the Grid Needlearts thank you so much!!!! I know you can relate to having ALLLLLLL the WIPs lol. And yes!! That’s who it was! I can’t wait to start it!
Im glad you came up as a recommenced watch.. Your work is amazing. I love it. Im a beginner stitcher and I have really fallen for motifs like quakers. I bought rosewood manors winter, summer, and ect. I really want to do them. but I really want to keep practicing before I go on. Besides I'm on 14 count aida lol. I really love your work. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Simply amazing!!!
Melba Burwell thank you!! You can TOTALLY stitch Rosewood Manor designs on Aida & it will look beautiful! I love Quakers as well (I’m sure you can tell lol)
Xstitchmd that’s another thing I’ll eventually have to learn how to do is changing the fabric count on a pattern. I think for me working my way to 28 count would be enough lol. I don’t think I could see the higher counts. I will have to learn how to get the right size fabrics that I need when changing the recommended count. 😊
Melba Burwell 28 count “over two” is the same as 14 count! So if a pattern calls for 28 count, you can use 14 count Aida. Jan Hicks Creates has some excellent “Basics of Cross Stitch” videos where she goes over different types of fabric. 😊😊
Thanks for sharing. You just introduced me to October House, and I'm in love with that! I'm a knitter first, but cross stitch takes over for spells. Beautiful finishes.
Beautiful stitching. Welcome to floss tube. I just made my first video also! Enjoy seeing your variety of patterns and projects. I am a Mira stitcher and have Emma's Garden in my future projects. Yours is gorgeous!
Great video. I’m currently working on Kindness and Fortitude. Funny story, when I was trying to figure out which MFE pattern to start, I saw your version on IG and that sealed the deal! looking forward to your next video. - Dina
Love all your stitching. Just beautiful! I also went to Quiltify designs and ordered The Kraken pattern. It's amazing. I have the perfect fabric for it. Can't wait until your next flosstube.
@@Xstitchmd That is insane!!!! Oh well, I am old. And I was fascinated to hear about your job! I used to work in a psychiatric hospital. First as a mental health worker and then as a psychiatric intake counselor which I loved. Worked in the ER and assisted with getting patients admitted or referred out. I would love to hear more about your career path in future videos. That brain cross stitch will be perfect in your office!!! Love, Laura
Brenda and the Serial Starter that is so awesome, Laura! I’m currently working on a psychiatric inpatient unit, but do one overnight shift a week in the ER - so many interesting cases!! I love love love it!
Awesome first video! You have so many wonderful projects!! Love them! And you’ve gotten so much done on Farewell to Anger!!! Makes me want to get back to mine! Have a wonderful day. I’ll be giving you a shout out on my video today!

Thank you for watching!! I’m lucky in that psychiatry residency is less call-heavy than a lot of other specialities. 😊😊
Love your projects! Your first floss tube was fabulous! I am looking forward to seeing your next video.
Wonderful first flosstube video! Your stitching is amazing and I look forward to seeing your next video. Happy belated birthday to you! Happy stitching! 😊

Okay. Now, I want to stitch everything you stitch. You are amazing!
Hello from Ontario. I just found your channel via another Flosstuber so really happy to see a fellow Canadian showing such amazing work! I also love samplers but do not do as many of them as you do. Sharon Wurm I spend a lot of evenings watching flosstube & stitching lol. The time adds up quickly! 😊
Paula Jochetz Millhollon Stash Unload is a great place to find older charts!
Beautiful needlework!! Looking forward to seeing your progress and more WIPS!
Your stitched pieces are so beautiful! I really enjoyed your video and am looking forward to your future uploads.
I enjoyed your flosstube. You remind me of my granddaughter.
Waving from Southwestern Ontario. I just ordered from Traditional Stitches - about 2 hours ago!
Hey! Excited to see someone from Nova Scotia! I’m in Cape Breton! Thanks for sharing all your projects!! ☺️ Happy Birthday!! 🥳

Thank you!!
Melba Burwell 28 count “over two” is the same as 14 count! So if a pattern calls for 28 count, you can use 14 count Aida. Jan Hicks Creates has some excellent “Basics of Cross Stitch” videos where she goes over different types of fabric. 😊😊
Xstitchmd 🤓 thank you
Your stitching is incredible!! Can't wait for your next video!
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it. :)
First time viewer!!! Loved every single thing you showed!! I'll definitely be adding you to my Must Watch list.
