    • @ljmill
      @ljmill Год назад +2

      @@jB..33b854 I've only had time to make the box tee so far and it went great! I ordered a sewing machine that came with a walking foot (ST150HDH). I found that, while the machine is absolutely superb, the walking foot caused the kit's fabric to get caught up in the plate. So, I removed the walking foot and had zero issues what so ever.
      I definitely recommend the DIY kit and the ST150HDH for that matter.

    Tip: The wonder clips are made to be used with the clear part (the straight part) against the sewing machine bed, with the colored part (the curved part) facing up. If used in that position, they move more freely as you're sewing. Great tutorial! Thanks!

    Weirdly enough I haven't been able to find a simple explanation of when to use cotton or polyester threads. So for this video even just that information laid out was worth the watch. Most articles ive found go into the mechanics of each thread type and is quite confusing for a beginner who really just wants to know a basic rule of thumb to follow. I know it's a small thing to get hung up on but when you want to do things right it happens. So thank you for this video and the others of yours I've come across while learning!

    Brilliantly detailed and clear video. Just be aware if you are not using the kit but other fabric and pattern, prewash the fabric the way you plan to handle the finished shirt. Don't avoid shrinkage at the beginning if you are going to treat the finished shirt in a way that will shrink it, or your shirt may be too tight.

    Love your videos. You are a wonderful sewist. Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Just a thought quilters use a small scrap of fabric at the start of the seam to help stop the machine from eating your fabric. Also you may find that marking your neckline and ribbing in fourths instead of thirds is easier. Match shoulder seams together and put a pin in each fold gives you fourths with no measuring.

    You inspired me to start sewing and I have my new singer and have been starting with small jobs of patching holes, hand threading buttons. Buying and making your shirt kit is next step up. But one thing I regret is doing a giant closet purge and taking my clothes to Plato’s closet and goodwill and as an after thought I am mad for not saving some pieces to cut apart and clone the patterns 😢.

    • @GloryAllan

      Ah dang that sucks! All good though, more clothes will come in the future :) You can also replicate clothes without taking them apart.

    advice for the pdf:
    i did not know this, but printing something this big at a print shop is crazy expensive. if i had known that it'll cost me about 16 dollars worth of money in my currency, i would've tried to edit it in Adobe to make it A4 printable... i almost cried at the shop...sure as hell i'm not gonna cut this up. i copied the size i needed on semi-transparent paper. it scares me how people cut their patterns up.
    the design itself is great, but i had to adjust the neck band (my knit seemed to act different). i'm making the third shirt by this pattern right now!
    overall i'm so thankful for all this. the pattern, the tutorial, everything. this is too much work, i think people'd still buy it if it was cheap, not completely free. i think if you gave it an affordable price (couple of dollars), you would at least make a little income off of that, but it'd still be affordable, so beginners still would want to try it out. i feel like i'm ripping you off!!!!!!!
