I decided to make bucket hats for all the kids in the fam and when I tell you BATCHING is the only thing that isn't making me regret starting this project 😅
another bobbin tip for your serger: if you do pick up a fabric in a colour you don't normally work with and get thread specifically for *that* fabric, you can just buy 1x serger thread and load the rest up on bobbins! No need to buy 4x.
You are so cute❤love lol your videos. I started trying to learn quilting on my own when Covid started and I have been saving denim for years so now I’m putting my first denim quilt together. I have done a lot of reading, I have bought a ton of books, and I have purchased a ton of material batiks only of course. I hope your still making videos I will continue to watch. Thanks and I’ve done a lot of reading. I watched a lot of videos but you really do have the basics really good really down and I really appreciate your videos but you are a little fox showing outside. That’s some crazy shit I would do.
Some really great tips, for sure. I totally agree with you on these. I've turned the notification bell on so that I can be updated on your live streams. I am thankful that I was able to find a neighbor nearby who hosts a sewing club every other Saturday at her house. It keeps me accountable to this hobby that I've dedicated a lot of investments (machines, furniture, tools and supplies).
I got a rolling cart for my machine feet, bobbins, threads, zippers, elastics etc and put an ironing blanket on top. I have it angled to my serger and sewing machine so i don't even have to stand up to iron seams! No more bulky ironing board either.
i am absolutely grateful for these series! as someone with no sewing skills whatsoever, i was so overwhelmed by all the info i found in other places. But you make it so approachable and help me answered almost all of my i-think-im-supposed-to-know-this-alrdy questions🙃, thankyou for giving us these series and please keep on doing more of them🫶🏼
I've used an actual 15 pound weight to hold my fabric down. Lol Hey you have to work with that you have. Lol I also like the ideal of batching. I'm going to start doing that.
Fun video. The only thing I find about using clips is that they are heavy when working with light weight fabric. Other than that, it is clips for sure.
I have a small work area. I am a software engineer so I have an office but most of the space is dedicated to 3 PCs and other equipment. So I have to batch. I have to cut everything at once. Then iron. Then sew because I don’t have a bough space to have all of the equipment out at once.
What type of bobbin works for your machine? Because we have the same machine. I’ve been doing what you’ve been doing and just using the same few bobbins for far too long. I need to upgrade my thread game and my bobbin game. So what do you use for the singer heavy duty?
K that's the singer heavy duty, does that beasty go through Leather well. I have been humming and hawing weather or knot to drop the funds on one, but only if it can go through some thick seams
I've used a couple different brands throughout the years and haven't noticed a difference in quality. If you're looking for new colors though (earth tone or retro) I have some on my site www.gloryallan.com :)

I really enjoy your videos. I've been sewing for 12 plus years and I've learned so much from you. Thanks.

These videos are really helpful, you're a chill guy.
A friend gave me a Sidewinder bobbin winder. I thought it was just another gadget but wound up (lol, pun really not intended) loving it. Great tips!
