Panzerhaubitze 2000 is actually one of the best tank artillery guns on the market right now, german weapon manufacturers are making a ton of money RN. The german army (bundeswehr) is re-building. That means that company's like: H&K Rheinmetall KMW Airbus and other german/European company's are getting big orders.

This could be of some use only in an European army, but unfortunately, that will not happen. Neither France nor Germany have the guts and balls to say niet to US. As such, all this weaponry is only a showcase of some - I do not even know what - empty display of some shooting per se. Pure annual going around to shoot a bit. All these european armies don't have the ability in case of a serioous war, well payed guys who are in the barracs from 9 to 5, no control over air, nothing in semi-space, useless as useless can be. I feel sorry for Europe, once the bells toll it is going to be too late. European non existance versus powerful Russia and China, you think US will save you EU? Wrong, wrong...one day you will see how small you are against the threat from the east... The biggest mistake there is a NATO itself, NATO serves US interests, not EU.

It's kind of moronic to have an armored vehicle where part of the gun crew are exposed at the rear of the vehicle.
Not if you know a at least a little about artillery.
The main reason is mobility, not protection. If the enemy has broken through this far back you are likely fucked anyways.
The main source of danger to artillery is enemy artillery (or air) conducting counter-battery fire. It’s evident the PZH2000 is designed to provide quick fire missions and then quickly change position to render enemy counter-battery fire ineffective. I think it’s called shoot-and-scoot.
Besides, the two loaders in the back can still quickly jump in the back should the need ever arise?
@@-----REDACTED----- yeah this is a dumb take since artillery is more often employed from the safety of a backline, and this thing has a range of about 36km. But even in close-combat, it has rapid fire capability. Seems like the germans still adhere to the mobile warfare doctrine of WW2.

They can do it all inside too.
Even if those guys get killed or wounded its not hard to find 2 guys to put shells into the autoloader. The gun can still operate without them since it can carry over 20 rounds in it. Here you see them in training so most likely these guns will be used differently in combat. Shoot hide in the forest to replenish ammo them go back out and fire again. Feeding the autoloader while firing can be a good idea in a low threat enviroment
