Hey this is a cool channel. When I was back in my 20's (30 years ago) I built a 79 Chrysler Lebaron 2-door coupe with a 69' 383 727 and an 8&1/4 diplomat cop car rear and rear springs. I really wanted to turbo it, but lost my license "again" and never did. Love the Grand Wagoneer in the back ground, I'm fixing up a 90' right now myself.
That’s killer! The Wagoneer is one I’m fixing up for my wife, I bought it with no powertrain and it now has a 5.2 magnum from a ‘95 Grand Cherokee. Hopefully I’ll be painting it this spring!
A 5.2 Magnum, that'll be awesome too. I'm not to crazy about that AMC 360 that's in it now, 11mpg, 146hp... I think I'm going to try and LS swap mine soon. A friend just rolled his 12' Cadillac Escalade with an L94 all aluminum 6.2L, and he wants me to do a bunch of sheetmetal work on a Ford short "fun bus" that he has. So I think we just might be able to work something out. Lol
@@ericwilson2585 that would be an awesome upgrade! I’ve had her jeep on the road for a couple years now, it has plenty of power for what it is but even with overdrive it’s a gas hog, lol!
Absolutely love this thing. I have damn near the exact same setup that I’m putting together in a 61 Dodge d100. Look forward to following your progress!
Definitely noticed a bit more upstairs. I also put 4 hole injectors in from a 2002 Jeep liberty, and removed all the nosense air silencing walls off the throttle body ( looks like a 2bbl dominator now ). Major throttle response difference just from that. @restoreitralph
@@restoreitralphI also plan on doing a small cam, and the stock heads, open the bowls up a bit and give the heads some TLC. At 200k I'll bet it needs guides😁
Can’t wait to see the difference on the total power curve as well as over all power numbers like this… then the fun begins and swapping to the Terminator X!
to be honest it looks a bit factory for a turbocharged car (given back in the 90s dodge could actually have made a turbo diplomat).the reason i like this car is because of a movie called short time. i love cars that are built to take hits and abuse instead of being a weak crumple can
For sure, this thing is a tank! When I first started building it my original intention was to build a “what if” Shelby GLH Diplomat with stripes and phone dial wheels from a Cherokee but I really like the sleeper look. It may evolve into that GLH look eventually 👍
I’ve had good luck with factory efi on my stock magnum and Hemi swaps, but with the turbo I’ve had challenges tuning on the ancient pcm. The resolution of my fuel table is bad because I couldn’t add cells for boost, the driveability suffers and I think there is power to be made. Plus two step would help off the line. It’s probably not going to be as bolt on as I’d hoped, but it’s worth a shot! I’ll be dyno testing before and after, so we’ll find out!
@@restoreitralphI had good luck using a Microsquirt system in place of the factory ECM for the modified 2.3 turbo SVO engine powering my Mustang. Had remote tuning to dial it in. Surprised you took a chance on an Ebay turbo. Much fear out there for their failures taking out engines.
@@johnmcmullen456 I've never messed with a mega/microsquirt, although I would like to. With my cheap engine combo I wasn't as concerned with the turbo taking it out, but that is a real concern if I ever build a "real" engine for this car. Then I will put a quality turbo on it, although this one has been good so far. I went cheap on everything on this car, just to see if I could get it working!
Thanks! That would be lame for a cruiser to lose cruise functionality, I don’t think the terminator requires a vehicle speed input though, that’s probably why. With the Holley throttle body I could adapt the original 80s style cruise unit but this car never had it and I’m not concerned for what I do with it for now.

Heck yeah!
Very cool, 👍🏻

Cool build
Thank you!
Same engine my 1998 JGC 5.9 Limited had, I loved it, miss it, and yes, out of power after not much over 4500 RPM, but gobs of Torque.
For sure! Hopefully the intake will help, but I’m pretty sure the tiny cam is still going to limit it.
Really dig it! Very unassuming street assassin I'm currently building a twin gt35 318 la for a 74 charger

I’ve seen a lot of people add cruise to their setup via Lokar or a few other companies that make solenoid style cruise control.
