R.I.P. Dr. Lonnie Smith, you was the best!!!
that bass lines so smooth
Ha thanks, tried my best!
Killer horn group, in the groove and killer drummer, great singer, top shelf.
In the 80's I was looking for some new Lonnie Liston Smith albums and bought one of Dr. Smith's albums by mistake not knowing that he was not the person that I was looking for. Best mistake ever!!! Been enjoying his music since... Killer concert.
Thanks!
I remember seeing Dr Lonnie Smith at the Darling harbour Jazz and Blues festival in Sydney, about 2012. I did not know who he was at the time and when he came out my wife and I looked at each other and thought, "who is this guy?" Within minutes of him playing I was totally blown away by his skill mastery of the organ. He put on a great show. I have been a huge fan ever since
I lot of people play runs and licks but this guy has feel. You can feel the emotion in the notes he plays.
true that!
...Fender Rhodes and Hammond B3 good combination. I love' em!
🙏
Top shelf players, refreshing group, amazing solos, singer, Dr.Smith one of the few great B3 players still with us, dynamite arrangents, stimulating jazz with intellect and inspiration!
Unfortunately, Dr Lonnie left us last year, he'll be missed deeply X
🎉🎉
The flugelhorn is the magic touch, just incredible band and music 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵
Had the great privilege of seeing this man live - maybe 10 feet away - at the Green Mill in Chicago in the 1990's when he arrived after his set at the Chicago Jazz Festival. What a master of the instrument and purveyor of beautiful music.
I suspect it might sound different too :)
I love going to green mill for the resident organist Chris Foreman. I am sad that I kept missing every opportunity to see the good doctor before he passed, but I may just have to see if Chris can pay tribute to him this Friday.
I hadn’t yet heard. Wow. A huge loss; a giant of jazz.
great music! great peoples!
Thanks Taguknoy!
Woo hoo! Blowin' the doors off!
Hahaha, just the way we like it!
It is rare to see dr. Lonnie Smith play with more than two artist.
I’m glad he did ;-)
Great band too...I really enjoy it. Wish all of them success.
Bravo!
Tasty as hell!!!
Hahaha, thanks
Tons of Grooove !!! 🧨🧨🧨
Haha thanks. Appreciate it!
Jazz with a pocket, unbelievable 👍👍👍👍
This whole performance is stunning. Not fair to single anyone out, but the drum and bass are completely in the pocket.
Thanks so much 🙏
Killer band and vocalist 👍👍👍
The bass being dr Lonnie smith’s feet
And tony
I mean ton
NICE NICE NICE NICE NICE!! The Late '60s MASTER (Expansions; Son of Ice Bag) displays his sheer POWER 25 years on!!
Actually: Expansions is not a Dr Lonnie Smith track as far as i know but - mixed up often - a track by Lonnie Liston Smith ;-)
@@MusicandmoreNl078 OK I'll take your word but still n Ed to check it out personally, but if what you're saying is correct then it's NOT ONLY HELLISHLY CONFUSING that they BOTH llay Hammond B3 but ALSO have near-identical names. There MUST, surely, have been lots of LAWSUITS flying around during the later 1960s and onwards precisely because of this INVITATION for everyone to become thoroughly confused, surely?
Haha not sure about the lawsuits but have to admit it’s confusing. However Lonnie Liston is more of a piano/keys player and still alive. Dr Lonnie is known for his hammond B3 playing. But definitely both great players.
still love it!!
thanks, so do we X🙏
Only 26,000 views in four and a half years. Ridiculous
Wäre ich an dem Abend dabei gewesen, dann wäre es ein bedeutender Abend gewesen von dem ich meine Enkel erzählt hätte ....
The Trumpet player liked that @ 5:56
So beautiful 💛
Groovy!! Very nice!
Thnx, daar had ik toch wel graag bij willen zijn! Te gek
ok -who's playing the wah clav part in Hey Yeah Yeah? It's not the Dr.'s lower keyboard, I'm pretty sure, and not the Rhodes. It might be an overdub? I've now noticed some other overdubs later in the show--vocals, percussion. That's why the drummer has headphones on, I imagine. Smokin' performance!
Those are not overdubs but some elements indeed coming from previous recordings (when the album was recorded). Ableton live on the laptop is on providing some percussion and indeed some Clavi parts played by Berthil Busstra, who’s also on the Rhodes and Juno now. And you’re right, some backing vocals as well.
YEAHHH :::: SO COOL :::: !
yeah, full show!
Eindelijk he ;-)
Sweet SweetSweet!!!!
Thanks!
Super
yeee yeyeyeyeii ....heey !!!

At the end you mean ? That's a "slaperoo" ;-)
I wonder what's the inscription on the organ's side panel @1:00:44?
Hahaha that's a lot of history on that organ.. if you check this video, you'll know a lot more (it's at the end ruclips.net/video/jztCxnH9O04/видео.html )
