Thanks. My Cabrio would turn on, but wouldn't begin when the start button was pressed. It just kept making the "locked" sound. So I ran this test and it worked.
@@tedmiller1745 It works now. What it turned out to be was the lock at the top right of the lid. It's very weak. I shift the lid while it's down left & right until it catches and then works. There's probably a sensor there. I'm ordering the new trigger to install. That's what worked for me. Might be worth a try on your end. When it's down, try to move the lid left & right and up & down a little and see if it catches the sensor ("if" that's that problem).
Lid lock stopped working. Diags worked didn't know what to do. RESET the washer by unplugging let sit 5 10 minutes with screw driver across the prongs on the cord. Seems to fix this problem. THANK YOU, for your post!
I had to do this several times. mine (just got it yesterday) seems to be stuck in done mode. Won't fill with water, just whirrs and clicks. I put water in the tub and it drained, not washed. How do I get it out of done mode?
I tried to do this exactly a few times, I even done it within the 3 seconds advised in other videos and it didn’t give me the blinking lights any tips?
@@forrestgossett Since I left this message, I watched a video where inside the washer, in a bag that’s glued to the inside front upper left of the unit, is a manual for it. You must first loosen up the top of the unit to get a hand in there and remove the manual. It tells how to run a full diagnosis on the machine. When I did that the 1st 2 times, it fixed the washer for a week at a time. The 3rd time was a few months ago, and been working correctly ever since.
@@allgokusun what did you figure out? Mine is not agitating except when only water is present (through diagnostic modes which didn't yield me any errors).
@@carish1452 of it is agitating with water it is fine.. if it doesn't agitate when water is present do a reset thru the manual.. if that didnt work check the actuator that shifts between wash and spin
Try Whirlpool’s website here: www.whirlpool.com/services/manuals.html I don’t have a model number on hand to test it right now, but maybe you could enter yours and see if it works? (Let us know, if possible.)
You dont have to turn it all the way around.....turn it off....make sure the knob is on normal....with the machine off....one click to left, 3 clicks to the right, back left once then back right once....with these washers when they wont spin or agitate or even put water in to.start a cycle most of the time it is your starting compasator and it really isnt expensive to fix people throw these machines away alot bc of the springs and the starting compasator. Me and my husband own our pwn washer and dryer business and we see it all the time we have saved sp many people hundreds of dollars
I have a WTW5500BWO Cabrio and don’t have a manual or service/repair guide like should have been attached inside the body. I can’t find a repair/service guide online and Whirpool can’t provide one or allow me to purchase one showing codes, etc. Do you know where I can acquire one do I can troubleshoot? The tub ring started to shred and I am trying to troubleshoot before taking apart or calling a technician. Thanks!!!
The lid lock makes a loud click when it engages. So that would be normal. But nothing happens after that? Find the service manual, enter diagnostic test mode, then use either automatic or manual test mode to verify functionality of the other actions....hot fill, cold fill, agitate, spin, drain, etc. That might help you. Also, check out my other videos on the Whirlpool Cabrio. Good luck.
Does the tub fill with water? If the issue is no agitate and no spin, the culprit may be 1) drive belt, 2) motor, or 3) shifter/actuator. I have videos on replacing the shifter/actuator, and also the motor capacitor. They might be of help to you. Good luck. You will solve this eventually, I'm sure.
I have the same washer as well, but my lid lock light is flashing and is also makes clicking noise repeatedly and no water starts to fill as it normally would any ideas about this problem or fix ? Another thought or necessary information , for quite some time I have had to slam the lid to get it to shut and engage properly to begin the cycle and also more recent problems after the cycle is finished we would have to apply Force before becoming unlocked by itself ! Any tips on any of these matters would be greatly appreciated thank you so much !
This is Nancy (Mrs Buck)... I have the manual and took a quick video of the chart pages. I don't know if it'll help, but it's the best we can do on short notice. I'll try to upload it in the next 1/2 hr.
I have this washer and when I wash my clothes everything comes out fine but when someone else washed there are oil looking spots on their clothes. We use different detergents and neither are HE detergent. Any help would be appreciated.
Very helpful video but in all reality in today’s time and age this is stupid! Why not have it to where you can just download an app for your phone, plug it in by way of a USB port and diagnose it that way!? I swear, some engineers are so smart they’re stupid!

How do you recalibrate it so it stops acting out on the spin cycle?
Thanks.

very good, it worked great for me Thanks for the video. I was thinking of having it repaired but thanks to this video I saved an extra
After doing this, still not working. I unplugged the washer and plugged it back in. Now it’s working fine.
How long did u unplug it mine doesn’t work at all
to get the stored error code for your machine -go in done then press start -go around to read the error code

Try checking your water line to make sure it's not plugged with sediment

Mine looks similar. Tried it twice. Wouldn’t work. It used to work after turning it off and back on. But, no more.
Same here.

Mine wont switch from starting up to wash and fill with water. It seems to be a sensor, can you help?
Turn to left a full turn more like turn to the left once and the error codes are in the complete mode
why does it drain after washing?....iI would prefer it wash one or two more times
Thank you!!! Worked like a charm!
Real helpful ur the best
I tried this one but did not get any codes. Will try again
worked well. thank you!
Think mines stuck in sensing mode. Can’t get it to start. Senses for a while then lid lock pops off and nothing happens. Think it’s the actuator
Mine is doing the same! Was it the actuator?
My mom has this washer and it washes but stops and shuts down during mid cycle (the wash cycle)
how about draining? does the washer drain pump operate? If not, it certainly won't be able to continue to run the full wash cycle?
Thanks so much for uploading! So helpful!!
its like a safe.
It was fill up with water it starts an stops after it fills like a small boiler water
Mine doesn't agitate in first wash cycle. Do you think my capacitor is the issue. Just asking before i so the manual testing myself
If the motor spins at all, then it's not the capacitor. The shift actuator that shifts between agitate and spin could be the culprit. Just a guess.
Yes it spins for the spin cycle and all but ill check it this week ty
