Nintendo is literally the Disney of video games. The put out way too many bangers to be written off, but they really don’t get enough scrutiny that they honestly deserve.
I don't think Disney has really made a banger in a very very long time. Nintendos bangers are top tier quality, Disney has sucked for 10+ years. But yeah, Nintendo makes some of the laziest brain dead decisions I have ever seen.
Disney is just money with 0 creativity or heart left. Nintendo still have the soul, it's just buried under a bunch of archaic management.
Bangers is even questionable. TOTK was massive and impressive in scope, but also felt phoned in and lazy at many points.
I miss the old days of games like SMW where you had the unlockable Star Road levels and the entire game changing visuals with the turtles turning to Marios after beating them all.

If you took virtual boy, wii u, even N64 as an example, I would have agreed with you. But gamecube? Come on dude, it's a console with some of the best exclusives Nintendo ever produced. Two Metroid prime games, two amazing zelda games, the best paper Mario game, 4 amazing Mario party games, Mario kart, Smash bros melee... The list goes on and on. I hate so many things about Nintendo and how greedy they are and how they are spoon feeding their fan base. But, your example (which didn't have any explanation whatsoever) is just bad.

In all seriousness though, i half agree with him in that Nintendo is the dog in the Manger with their IPs and gaming history, through those IPs. I think he may have an axe to grind against Nintendo. Honestly, I thought Gamecube was ahead of its time; conversely, I would argue its successor instantly fell behind. Nintendo is great, but a mixed bag.
Especially the Pokemon fan boy's they know that their games haven't been good in the recent years but they are in denial.
Last pokemon game I played was Alpha Sapphire Omega Ruby

The only reason the Gamecube ever got nostalgia is because Nintendo is the video game company for suburban parents who want to shelter their kids even if the console or game itself is absolute trash. This means that the Gamecube was an absolute joke but all the kids that had one never realized it because they were way too young to notice at the time.
Compared to PS2 though, not that great in terms of abundance of good software.
Much like footballism, I never understood being a fanatic for one company or the other based on anything other than quality of product.

Again, we need to fully abolish all intellectual property laws. Immediately, anywhere and everywhere.
