  • The El Salvador vlogs continues! I've now moved across to the town of Santa Ana where I'll be for the next few days. In this vlog, we rented scooters, hiked the Santa Ana Volcano and then visited Lake Coatepeque before returning to Santa Ana just in time for happy hour. I had my first experience paying for something with Bitcoin!

    ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. I spend half my time exploring new places around the globe with my backpack, and the other half creating videos about my experiences, what I'm packing, solo travel advice, money budgeting tips and anything else in relation to my backpacking lifestyle.

    FAQ's
How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these RUclips videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackin...
Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

El Salvador was my last destination before Covid hit. Just got home a couple of weeks before. Went to Santa Ana (stayed in Casa Verde which had a 7 bed dorm at time) and loved every minute of it! Also did the Flower route which was gorgeous ❤

9:11 oh my gosh is true 😮 one of my friends told me that he bought one Patagonia Nano Puff Down Jacket in El Salvador 🇸🇻 and he just paid $ 4 American dollars. Many Salvadorans send expensive jackets from the states to their relatives but because of the weather Salvadorans don’t wear down and they don’t know much about those brands

Not an easy hike up the volcano but very well worth the effort. There is a glasshouse lookout restaurant near the trail parking area, its aprox 1mile away on the main road. The food and drinks are outstanding there, as is the view to lake coatepeque! A trip to the Tazumal ruins is also a must.

I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy Lago Coatepeque to its true potential, its rare for it to have all that algae. Also for a few weeks during the year it'll turn turquoise due to some unknown reasons. It's currently being voted in to become one of the natural wonders of the world. Its my favourite place in all ES.

Hi! I’m new to your channel!
I was born in El Salvador but live in the states. I hope you get to explore Ataco and Apaneca!
Especially Apaneca. There are buggy rides up to a hidden lagoon, incredible food, an adventure park/labyrinth, and more!

Hi, I am from El Salvador. I was just there ober Easter 2024. My family tells me that there is SO much to do and see there esp if you venture inland away from the coast. So it makes sense you feel like there isn't enough time to see and do it all. Enjoy! You've seen more of the country than many of us Salvadoreans have!

Your hostel looks nice! We stayed at Casa Verde which is good too. At the Volcano hike we had to pay for a guide but she disappeared! Our group was very large so I suspect that they didn't all make it to the top and she went back down with them! It was insanely windy at the top for us - gusting at maybe 100kmph. We had to hold on to the posts to take photos of the caldera. If you liked the volcano pool I recommend going to Yellowstone where they probably have the most famous caldera in the world!

Okay I realize your videos can be weeks behind the actual dates, but I noticed the plastic snowmen at the garden 😂. That just made me smile that here I sit with temperatures minus 38 degrees Celsius with up to 5 feet of snow at times and they are putting out plastic snowmen. The volcano view was amazing and the smoke was what Americans call steam. Thanks Cristianne

For anyone watching, as of April 2024 Lake Coatepeque is under a state of emergency due to a micro algae bloom that is contaminating the local fishery. It's not clear if people can still swim in it, but I would probably avoid swimming in it until they determine the toxicity levels to humans. There isn't much English media on this but you will find it in the local Spanish media.
