It was all so well done and it helped that Willem Dafoe is just a phenomenal actor so he makes it all work and becomes one of the scariest and psychotic villains in the MCU.
i think thanos in infinity war is the best villain in the mcu. the thanos we get in end game that travels forward in time and tries to destroy everything is much less compelling to me. Love this comment tho and the green goblin take!
Personally, I would place the Flag Smashers and the Clandestines below Malekith. I do agree with Todd hulk being that low too. We’re being told to sympathize with the Flag Smashers and that they aren’t terrorists, when that’s exactly what they are. Anything that could’ve made them sympathetic was cut due to the reworking in post. The Clandestines had a lot of potential. I thought they could’ve worked if they were the main focus, like what Sean was saying, in a season 2. I feel like the DODC should’ve been the villains of Ms. Marvel. But that’s my 2 cents, not that anyone asked
I feel like there were more than 59, lol…nice to revisit everything. Loki, Killmonger, and Thanos are consistently the top 3 I think…and it’s interesting to note Loki is the one to always make both the hero and villain list for literally everyone. Oh…and I’m shocked you even counted Todd, lol!
Killmonger isn't a great villain to me. He's supposed to be this understandable villain and a more relatable character but goes onto to murdering an innocent old lady for no reason. It's really inconsistent and cartoonish imo.
@@plustico2846 “Old” lady…how old are YOU, like, 10?!? 😳 Because NO one Killmonger murdered could possibly be considered “OLD” by any stretch of the imagination? If you’re referring to the museum curator (who technically was killed by Claue)…I swear she was no older than 35…and if you’re referring to his girlfriend, well. She was even younger. I don’t recall any other female casualties? Am I missing someone??? 🤷♀️
@@MichealAfton1983 agreed. Although about Gorr and Bale, I just can’t. Gorr (and therefore Bale) was not on screen for a sufficient time where I could say “yeah, Bale kicked it out of the park” or even say that “Gorr was a great villain”, cause honestly he was butchered in that film. Just my opinion lol
So, I’ve done my best to narrow it down. I think it’s my top 7. 1. Thanos 2. Wenwu 3. Vulture 4. Zemo 5. Namor 6. Arthur Harrow 7. Gorr These are my top favorite villains
My Top Ten Villians 1. Thanos 2. Loki 3. Green Goblin 4. Killmonger 5. Wanda/Scarlet Witch 6. Gorr The God Butcher 7. Hela 8. Ultron 9. The Red Skull 10. Baron Zemo
Again, I totally agree with your thoughts on Loki. Personally, for me, I see his nefarious acts as a sort of reaction to everything that he's been through. He has done some wrong things, but there's a deep reason as to why he did them. He is truly one of my favourites alongside Thanos.
That's clearly the intended opinion; he's a hate sink based on real-life bigots and trolls, not the kind of villain who can reasonably be "liked" in the cartoonish/escapist sort of way that many others can despite their crimes being worse.
Wenwu was just…wow. I remember seeing shang-chi for the first time and being floored at how amazing shang chi and his family were. The film highlighting how he holds both his mother and father within him was an amazing way of showcasing how wenwu was such a complicated character. He just wanted his family back and its heartbreaking. Easily my fav film of phase 4
2:53 I get why he was bumped down because he isn't even technically a villain - but his performance as a villain should count for something, the delivery of his evil monologues alone were chilling. And I just like the way he says "Amurrrica" lol.
I'm gonna do a TOP 10 (I count Netflix series canon) (sadly I haven't watched Wakanda Forever)1 10: Vulture 9: Misteryo 8: Ultron 7: Bullseye 6: The WInter Soldier 5: Gorr 4: Thanos 3: Kingpin 2: Loki 1: The Green GOATBlin
Call me crazy if you want to but I will always have Green Goblin as the best Marvel villain. He was always a villain that couldn’t be held back. Almost every portrayal of Green Goblin not only gave everything to kill Spider-Man but he also never hesitated to kill the ones that Spider-Man loves. I know Sean didn’t include Willem Dafoe’s original green goblin but in that one movie, he tried to kill Aunt May and MJ.
Loki is such an amazing character, he is not only in the top 5 best villains but also in the top 5 best heroes. I really hope he has a big role in the future.
Loki’s been through some shit and became the villain but at the end of everything he ended up saving the whole multiverse 😭😭 truly a memorable villain, and hero 💜
I love how much effort he puts into all his videos! Thank you for putting Wanda on this list. No matter her motivations, she *is* in fact, a villain. But your pronunciation of Surtur is triggering me XD
So far in terms of MCU villains I think I’d have to go 1. Thanos 2. Loki 3. Namor 4. Winter Soldier 5. Green Goblin 6. Killmonger 7. Scarlet Witch 8. Mandarin/Wenwu 9. Vulture 10. Zemo Then my least favorites are easily Gorr and Taskmaster simply because of how terribly they were handled in comparison to their comic counterparts Your placement of He Who Remains and Kingpin is definitely pretty solid given the context you provide. But I definitely think going forward as they both have more appearances, they’ll definitely be much higher, especially Kang. Here’s hoping Dr. Doom is high on this list someday too. He’s got all the potential in the world to be the best MCU villain, just gotta capitalize 🙏🏽
Genuinely love that Sean is consistent with his Guardians 2 take. Even in a villains ranking film. I agree with the take that it’s an underwhelming movie for sure. Favorite channel on the platform!
Gotg 2 is the worst of the Guardians movies, but I don’t think it’s that bad. It was actually the first Marvel movie I ever watched, since a friend dragged me along to watch it. It’s a good movie, but Vol 1 is better, and Vol 3 is miles ahead.
My problem with Killmonger now that I've sat with the movie for over 4 years is that he's less of a character and more of an embodiment and mouthpiece for black rage. Every single one of his lines sounds like a diatribe against some social evil or historical injustice and we don't really get to see what his personality is like beyond that ... except for the one line which apparently was improvised by MBJ on the day ... "hey Aunty". That was hilarious and I feel like we should have gotten more of that. Don't get me wrong him being that works very well for the movie he's in especially one as thematically-rich as Black Panther is. "The child not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth" we get it, and it's done well but I wish we could've gotten like an extra scene of him and his girlfriend talking about their future together (before he kills her of course) or something really... it would have gone even further to humanize him. Think of all the scenes Thanos has when he's not murdering... he's teaching and philosophizing with Gamora or Dr. Strange. The best parts of Loki's villain performance in the Avengers is when someone points out Loki's insecurities to him... and notice Tom Hiddleston has a different reaction to that each time.
Agreed. I used to place Killmonger in like my number 4. That’s when I was 13. Now, I still think he’s a solid villain, but not as good as I thought. He’s like in my number 9 now maybe 10
To be fair to Shocker, the comics character didn't have much personality in the first place, so the decisions they made make a little sense, especially considering that the focus was clearly on Vulture. However, they wanted fan service so we got a ton of side villains like Shocker and Tinkerer as well.
Another amazing video sean. My top five. 1. The Scarlet Witch 2. Thanos 3. Loki 4. Killmonger 5. Gorr. Even though I hate the movie and they disrespected his character so much.
I have never forgiven disney for how they treated shocker. Literally one of my favorite villians. I was waiting for him to appear since the og spiderman movie
You know it's kinda surprising that phase 4 has been the most divisive mcu phase, yet probably has the best villains overall. Wenwu, Namor, Green Goblin, Scarlet Witch. I mean, these were all great
Great list as always Sean! I really appreciate and dig these in-depth rankings on characters, heroes, villains, franchises, directors etc. Although I don’t completely agree with some of your placements though? For the glorified henchmen I would have ranked them a lot lower myself… I also think villains such as Whiplash, Justin Hammer, Yon-Rogg, Agatha Harkness and even Gorr should have been placed a lot lower! Most of the villains in the MCU are forgettable and generic so I made a much shorter list of my top 5 villains: 1: Thanos. Kind of obvious really and speaks for itself! 2: Green Goblin. This was a tricky one to place if we are ignoring the original Spider-Man film… But even in No Way Home, Goblin was a force of nature! He was utterly insane and unpredictable. He was a villain that was just downright crazy and we haven’t really had a villain like that in the MCU on that particular level? Plus I just love Willem Dafoe and I cannot imagine anyone else playing the role! 3: Vulture. I loved how grounded and relatable he was. He wasn’t trying to destroy the city, or the world or even the Avengers! He was an Everyman who just wanted to provide for his family. 4: Wenwu. Once again another relatable villain who I even rooted for at times during the film! You felt his pain and you understood his motives. 5: Killmonger. Very similar reasoning to Wenwu to be honest. Killmonger was sympathetic and you understood why he is doing the things he is doing… I also even agreed with him too!
Once I heard: "The same boiling water that makes an egg hard, also makes a potato soft." This quote proves why Wanda Stans' claims for their misconception that "WaNda DiD nOtHiNg WrOnG" are very illogical. That quote tells us that 'we shouldn't let situations/tragedies dictate us. It's the individual whose choices define him/her.'

The Mandarin (the real): a simpathetic but scary villain 7. Winter Soldier: Bucky was amazing as a villain
Daemon Targaryen and Loki are very similar. Can't wait for Loki Season 2. Loki might already be my 2nd favorite character in MCU behind only Iron Man. Thor got worse after IW.

What's the difference between sociopath and psychopath.
Gorr and Thanos are my favourites.
I like it when deep philosophy is attached to the villains.
Gorr wasn’t deep at all well he was in the beginning and the end but went generic the rest of the movie
Phase 4 was a mixed bag but we did get some great villains. Wenwu, Green Goblin, Scarlet Witch and Namor were all great.
I thought it couldn’t be done, but Malekith is no longer the worst villain in the MCU
@@plustico2846 wait who was the old lady again?
@@redmangoose182 Yeah…what “old” lady?????
@@plustico2846 “Old” lady…how old are YOU, like, 10?!? 😳 Because NO one Killmonger murdered could possibly be considered “OLD” by any stretch of the imagination? If you’re referring to the museum curator (who technically was killed by Claue)…I swear she was no older than 35…and if you’re referring to his girlfriend, well. She was even younger. I don’t recall any other female casualties? Am I missing someone??? 🤷♀️
He missed the Death Dealer
I just know my favorites are Thanos, Loki, and Goblin. Each of these villains were one of the best parts of their films. Willem Defoe especially
Willem Dafoe is my favorite villain performance in the MCU (although Christian Bale as Gorr comes close)
1. Thanos
2. Wenwu
3. Vulture
4. Zemo
5. Namor
6. Arthur Harrow
7. Gorr
These are my top favorite villains
My Top Ten Villians
1. Thanos
2. Loki
3. Green Goblin
4. Killmonger
5. Wanda/Scarlet Witch
6. Gorr The God Butcher
7. Hela
8. Ultron
9. The Red Skull
10. Baron Zemo
Thanks, Sean, for many years worth of content.
Again, I totally agree with your thoughts on Loki. Personally, for me, I see his nefarious acts as a sort of reaction to everything that he's been through. He has done some wrong things, but there's a deep reason as to why he did them. He is truly one of my favourites alongside Thanos.
Love that wanda and loki are at the top of both heroes and villains lists 💜
I don't think anyone liked Todd as a villain tbh
i know i didnt
That's clearly the intended opinion; he's a hate sink based on real-life bigots and trolls, not the kind of villain who can reasonably be "liked" in the cartoonish/escapist sort of way that many others can despite their crimes being worse.
He was purposely made as a bad villain because of the shows intention lol
He’s the twist villain who we all knew was the villain, but didn’t want the writers to actually go through with making him the twist villain
Great list! Where would you rank Laufey from Thor 1?
Wenwu was just…wow. I remember seeing shang-chi for the first time and being floored at how amazing shang chi and his family were. The film highlighting how he holds both his mother and father within him was an amazing way of showcasing how wenwu was such a complicated character. He just wanted his family back and its heartbreaking. Easily my fav film of phase 4
2:53 I get why he was bumped down because he isn't even technically a villain - but his performance as a villain should count for something, the delivery of his evil monologues alone were chilling. And I just like the way he says "Amurrrica" lol.
He has sooo much more presence than "I aM tHe MaNdArIn" whatever his name was
Update list with Defenders-verse villains sometime? ;)
I'm gonna do a TOP 10 (I count Netflix series canon) (sadly I haven't watched Wakanda Forever)1
10: Vulture
9: Misteryo
8: Ultron
7: Bullseye
6: The WInter Soldier
5: Gorr
4: Thanos
3: Kingpin
2: Loki
1: The Green GOATBlin
Call me crazy if you want to but I will always have Green Goblin as the best Marvel villain. He was always a villain that couldn’t be held back. Almost every portrayal of Green Goblin not only gave everything to kill Spider-Man but he also never hesitated to kill the ones that Spider-Man loves. I know Sean didn’t include Willem Dafoe’s original green goblin but in that one movie, he tried to kill Aunt May and MJ.
Interesting to see Sean’s changing wardrobe…….
7:00
Sean dropping the biggest diss of the year
So far in terms of MCU villains I think I’d have to go
1. Thanos
2. Loki
3. Namor
4. Winter Soldier
5. Green Goblin
6. Killmonger
7. Scarlet Witch
8. Mandarin/Wenwu
9. Vulture
10. Zemo
Then my least favorites are easily Gorr and Taskmaster simply because of how terribly they were handled in comparison to their comic counterparts
Your placement of He Who Remains and Kingpin is definitely pretty solid given the context you provide. But I definitely think going forward as they both have more appearances, they’ll definitely be much higher, especially Kang. Here’s hoping Dr. Doom is high on this list someday too. He’s got all the potential in the world to be the best MCU villain, just gotta capitalize 🙏🏽
Hyped to see this video, gonna see Wakanda Forever tonight and I'm psyched to see where Namor ends up on my list
Namor is definitely top 10
Top 10 villains
Thanos
Winter Soldier
Abomination
Zemo
Red Skull
Ultron
Loki
Ego
Zola
Wanda
Genuinely love that Sean is consistent with his Guardians 2 take. Even in a villains ranking film. I agree with the take that it’s an underwhelming movie for sure. Favorite channel on the platform!
I disagree, that film was awesome
Guardians 2 is so disappointing compared to the first
@@jermainehaslam5634 GOTG 2 is as awesome as the first
Gotg 2 is the worst of the Guardians movies, but I don’t think it’s that bad. It was actually the first Marvel movie I ever watched, since a friend dragged me along to watch it. It’s a good movie, but Vol 1 is better, and Vol 3 is miles ahead.
Todd's Hulk transformation was literally on par with Scrappy and Shaggy's transformations!
This is my list
1. Thanos

@@christopherjove7035 They were villains before and they slowly translated into heroes
Another amazing video sean. My top five.
1. The Scarlet Witch
2. Thanos
3. Loki
4. Killmonger
5. Gorr. Even though I hate the movie and they disrespected his character so much.
I have never forgiven disney for how they treated shocker. Literally one of my favorite villians. I was waiting for him to appear since the og spiderman movie
I feel like there is a way that they could bring him back for the next Spider-Man trilogy. Only time will tell
"Taskmaster was watching Iron Man 2, so she learns how to make a bad Iron Man film" 😂
Hey at least malkith isn’t 59 Right?!
Also Great video Sean! Keep it up! 👍
You know it's kinda surprising that phase 4 has been the most divisive mcu phase, yet probably has the best villains overall. Wenwu, Namor, Green Goblin, Scarlet Witch. I mean, these were all great
5. Vulture
4. Zemo
3. Killmonger
2. Thanos
1. Loki

The best part of every MCU video
Great list as always Sean!
I really appreciate and dig these in-depth rankings on characters, heroes, villains, franchises, directors etc.
Although I don’t completely agree with some of your placements though?
For the glorified henchmen I would have ranked them a lot lower myself…
I also think villains such as Whiplash, Justin Hammer, Yon-Rogg, Agatha Harkness and even Gorr should have been placed a lot lower!
Most of the villains in the MCU are forgettable and generic so I made a much shorter list of my top 5 villains:
1: Thanos.
Kind of obvious really and speaks for itself!
2: Green Goblin.
This was a tricky one to place if we are ignoring the original Spider-Man film…
But even in No Way Home, Goblin was a force of nature!
Killmonger was sympathetic and you understood why he is doing the things he is doing…
I also even agreed with him too!
This is a decent list, I would only make a few adjustments. Personally, my favorite MCU villains are Scarlet Witch and Thanos.
i hope you plan on updating all of your lists as more new movies come out because i plan on watching you again
Over all I agree with your on the top twenty. Very insightful.
Here’s my top 10 villains;
1.Thanos
2.Green Goblin
3.Killmonger

10.Gorr
What's with the wardrobe change and cowboy hat for the Taserface segment? Is that part of the joke, because I did laugh?

Top 5 Best Villians for me in MCU:
7 Volture
6 Loki
5 Zemo
4 Green Goblin
3 Killmonger
2 Winter Soldier
1 Thanos
Just my opinion.
Besides the Green Goblin and Thanos, I like Arthur from Moon Knight, Killmonger and Namor, Vulture and Gorr
Once I heard: "The same boiling water that makes an egg hard, also makes a potato soft."
This quote proves why Wanda Stans' claims for their misconception that "WaNda DiD nOtHiNg WrOnG" are very illogical. That quote tells us that 'we shouldn't let situations/tragedies dictate us. It's the individual whose choices define him/her.'

Dorammamu, Ego, Surtur, Hela, Agatha, Wanda, Gorr, Thanos, Loki and Abomination

Hi I was wondering why the main villains from the serie Agent Carter were not on this list, is there a reason, enlighten me please I'm rather new to the universe :)

1. Thanos
2. Loki
3. Wanda
4. Kilmonger
5. Green Goblin
6. Wenwu
7. Namor
8.,Vulture
9. Ego
10. Gorr
Obadiah a 2 movie arq from iron Man part 1 to part 2 I must say that sounds fantasticly awesome just so so so . AWESOME
My Favorites:
1. Thanos: the best in the MCU for me, a powerful but one that you can understand villain.
2. Wanda: she was so scary in Doctor Strange 2! amazing performance by Elizabeth Olsen.
3. Gorr: what a wasted character/actor in a mediocre movie...but Bale was incredible!
4. Hela: Cate Blanchett as always was amazing.
5. Loki: an lovable villain, turned into an antiheroe
6. The Mandarin (the real): a simpathetic but scary villain
7. Winter Soldier: Bucky was amazing as a villain
I don't think Bucky should really be called a villain. Every bad thing he did was due to mind control, none of it was his own will.
Top 5-
5. Wenwu
4. Namor
