    Jean Lemierre (born 6 June 1950) is a former French civil servant who served as President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 2000 to 2008.
    He is now chairman of BNP Paribas. In 2000, Lemiere succeeded Horst Kohler as the new president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). During his tenure, he warned Russia to halt the spread of Yukos-style expropriations.
    In 2004, the French government nominated Lemire as its candidate for IMF chief; instead, the post went to Rodrigo Rato. From 2005 to 2008, he was a member of the advisory board of the Legal Empowerment of the Poor Commission.
    Private Sector After leaving the EBRD, Lemire joined BNP Paribas as a consultant. In 2011, Lemierre (with Charles Dallara) co-chaired the bondholders committee that renegotiated 200 billion euros of Greek bonds with the government, a risky deal that prevented the country from collapsing.
