      The sway bar was a huge deal. I feel like they should definitely consider making it factory on the actual v2 release, whenever that is 🤣

    Great video...I sent mine back and went with a Team Corally Punisher. After adding up all the necessary parts for realistic function..you're north of $550. I really felt Redcat needs to address those arms and the cv axles. For a factory defect, charging $30 a set for their customers is ridiculous. That's $60 just to replace a defect. Then $40 for cv axles..yikes, spur gear, fan for overheating (as tech support literally told me "Well 6s is a lot of power that's why it's overheating...Im like but you knew this and released it..so..). Once again great video, I like Redcat but for the price, I would rather see them go ballz to the wall. I bought some extras...maybe if I can get it around $350, I'll try again.

    • @kylegeldmaker

      They did address the arms, there's a secret kinda v2 release where the material on the arms is much thicker and doesn't seem to shear where the turnbuckle ends. But I still understand your point. I'm nearly finished with my "100 days" review of the Kaiju and I feel like the two most significant issues are the drive cups and the servo horn, and the upper arms come in a really close second.
      I can say there's a clear and significant difference in the kaiju and the punisher, IMO, corally is a total sleeper brand. I'm very impressed with my punisher. My only gripe with the punisher isn't even really an issue with the truck so much as the transmitter. I really don't like the trigger feel on the varioprop. Everything else is fine, but the throttle feels really soft, and makes it very difficult to control 6s power. I've gotten used to it by running a few packs on 4s first, but its still very easy to lose control of it. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them, but they are in totally different classes.

      @@kylegeldmaker Thanks for the feedback bro! Fyi the new arms shear as well. But what makes a heck of a difference...I took my old shocks off my Arrma Big Rock v3 (just 1/10 cheapos) dude..I felt like I had never driven it on 6s because you can't control it right? Dude lower the wheelie bar to its lowest setting, and take a couple of screws and install them vertical on the outside of the bracket. Bro...there's someone on the tube with a video of it. You can take off full speed in CONTROL! GL.

      @@Naginc I don't mind that they break, in fact I prefer it over the CVs bending. I did do quite a bit of shock tuning and I'm running the factory shocks with 60wt all around. The top mount is in the center position and the bottom mount is on the outer-most. It's very stable and I can use every bit of my 4s power and the truck doesn't bounce as severely when landing on all 4 wheels.

    • @kylegeldmaker
      @kylegeldmaker  3 года назад

      @Bill Perri that was in reference to the Kaiju shocks. At the time I was running 60wt all the way around, but I ran out of 60 and using 55 now. I don't notice a difference at all.

    Very helpful video btw. I am pretty new to the rc world so these are extremely helpful. It definitely seems to be well made despite what some have said. I have a new brushless Traxxass Slash VXL 4×4 and after only 2 weeks the stinking shock blew after some very light off-reading. Traxxass had some nerve charging that kind of price for with crap shocks. I have a fairly cheap brushed 1/12 scale Bezgar 4×4, which I got off of Amazon and was my 1st truck. I have beat the dickens out of that and nothing has broken on it. The truck has a list price of somewhere around $150. I got it for less. How is that holding up but the Traxxass falls apart? Very annoying. Had traded the Bigrock in for s new Kaiju. Bigrock was alright but tough to control. It is all over the place on the road but seemed to have a nice tough body for what it is worth.

    • @kylegeldmaker

      I haven't owned a modern Traxxas, I'm not really interested in any model other than the Maxx/xmaxx and I'm not paying for those lol. Lots of folks hate on the mid grade white-label models from China but many of them are decent entry to mid level vehicles for an enthusiast.
      It's funny you traded a big rock for the Kaiju, the big rock is my all time favorite truck 😎

      @@kylegeldmaker And on that note, yesterday I traded my new Slash VXL for an ARMA Typoon BLX 6s! Ended up not liking the Slash at all. Out if the box it is cheaply made and just running it through grass, the bottom cap to the left shock broke off. Unacceptable and Traxxsss will no longer get my money.

      Isn't that the same one that now comes stock in the EXT version? That should now make it as fast as the ext correct? Or am I not making any sense? I am new to this so I am trying to learn.

  • @mikescallon4288
    @mikescallon4288 2 года назад +1

    Did this end up helping? I recently bought this truck and worry about running 6s in this truck because of the heat generated. Did they make the Redcat Kaiju with a fan like this already installed stock? Wondering if I should have just bought the Kaiju ext instead. Especially since they are pretty much the same price despite the upgrades the ext has. I think it is faster as well.

    • @kylegeldmaker
      @kylegeldmaker  2 года назад

      It doesn't overheat to the point of thermal shutdown so I would say the fan did help in that regard but, if you run it hard and have a large capacity battery you will likely get it to a protection state. I think the Kaiju vs Kaiju ext debate is probably more of the body style than anything. The wheelbase, in my opinion, kinda takes away the character the Kaiju had. But in a more practical sense, you probably won't regret either unless you're a total "grass is greener" person.
      As for 6s, there's many videos of folks showing the speed and performance, it's worth a try for educational purposes but because of it's size and weight it doesn't really need 6s to feel like a maniac. Some people will do it anyway, if you're one of those folks, expect breakages and thermal protection occasionally.

    I got a 1/8 powerhobby heatsink/fan for my kraton 6s, the heatsink/fan fit on the motor perfectly but I couldn’t get the jst connector to fit in the kratons receiver, any idea?

    • @kylegeldmaker
      @kylegeldmaker  3 года назад +1

      I assume you're using the factory SR315 receiver? I believe those power hobby fans are 2 wire JST and you'll need a 3 wire connector for most (if not all) receivers. You may need something like this: amzn.to/3dKGDYt

      @@donniemarks94 You could, just tape off the end or something so it doesn't short out on any metal in the chassis. Also, double check the connector on the fan before you buy it, make sure the 2 wire side will fit.
