I'm still a National Team fan.
Credit to Scottie. If you're watching NBA rn especially the Celtics, parang Marcus Smart role nya as long as point guard ang playstyle. The problem is pag may teams na nakadiscover to sag off on him, and make him a scorer, dare him to shoot long range shots kesa magpoint guard, baka mabawasan effectivity nya.

I just hope that Aldin Ayo will be included in the coaching staff. I like the way he runs his defensive schemes and ball offense kasi gamit lahat ng tao sa loob ng court. He could actually contribute to running low/high post plays for our big men.
One thing I like about their 2 games this window was the defensive effort they put on the main scorers of the opposing teams. Kaso aanhin mo ang magandang depensa if you cannot run your offense properly and would only rely on isolation and "bara-bara" plays? Much better to see a team with ball and player movement kasi it shows fluidity and offers continuity even if it will turn out to be missed play or bad possession.

The problem is that a lot of Filipino fans have never played organized basketball let alone play the point guard position. I always find myself cringing when they suggest semi tall players to play the PG position because they can somewhat dribble, the problem is it takes more than dribbling to become an effective PG, you need IQ which in all honesty is most important. If you look at the Philippine demographic of Basketball in the PG position, the height varies, but the limit is 5'10. It is very rare for a true point guard located in the Philippines that is over 5'10. If you don't believe me look at the roster of all NCAA and UAAP teams.

    • @n.a.flogio7786
      @n.a.flogio7786 Год назад

Kaya nga may quote na "Players are not born, they we're made".

@@n.a.flogio7786 I agree with your statement, one of the reasons why the Philippines is still lacking in the international scene compared to other countries especially in Asia is because of player development. The problem is that the In the Philippines they have to compensate for the lack of height, while this may be a factor we can’t control because Filipinos are indeed short, there are ways to effectively develop players with their skills to a certain position. A common problem that i see is the development of taller players. When you’re 6’0 and above you’re developed as a forward, when you reach 6’3 and over you develop as a center. There basically developing players into one trick ponies rather than all around players. The sad reality is the Philippines can be a top basketball country internationally but factors such as development and height to which we can and can’t control is what effects Basketball as a whole in the country.

    • @n.a.flogio7786
      @n.a.flogio7786 Год назад

@@edancore1951 yes. That's one factor on us Filipinos, our average height. Actually, we're one of the shortest average height in SEA and Asia in whole; 5'4 for males and 4'11 on females. Considering one of the most favorite sport here is Basketball, which is height is one of the biggest factor, that's irony if you think about it. That's because of you know it, American occupation & colonialism, and adaption in our culture. Historically, Philippines have the head start in the sports among other Asian countries. So if Basketball is the one of the most popular sports here and we are one of the most passionate fans of the sports in the world, how come their still no pure Philippine born player playing at the NBA, the "most competitive and prestigious league in the world"? China, Japan, South Korea, India, Israel, and Iran already have players playing and have played at the NBA after all this years, and still the Philippines who got the head start in terms of the sport establishment in Asian region don't have their own NBA player? Why? Well, theirs so many reason. (1) Our average height, (2) politics, corruption and document processing here is very slow, (3) Their's no program that seeks talents and developing them to reach their fullest potential, (4) the basketball culture and its norms as a whole here; 6'5 PBA centers in the past, 5'11 point guards are the norm here (no 6'3 pure Filipino pure PG so far), forcing players who have certain skills that's not usual for their height example 6'6 player that can handle the ball well, can shoot anywhere in the court, a potential superstar, and positioning them in a position that they're not comfortable for the rest of their careers and sacrificing their potentials, (5) developmental leagues is not existing here, leagues like PBA are not helping honestly, that's why we can't produce international level players like what they're doing in NBL Australia, and many more reasons. That's why I'm fond of this issues in Philippine Basketball and currently moving on.

    • @edancore1951
      @edancore1951 Год назад +1

@@n.a.flogio7786 All the points that you have listed are absolutely valid. The one point that I do have to share an opinion on is the average height of point guards. Personally I don’t have a problem with undersized point guards in general, I’ll be an example, I’m 5’10 playing Basketball in America, While I am considered undersized I’ve had no problem going against much taller players. Due to me playing Basketball here I was recruited to play College Basketball in the Philippines in the NCAA, currently I haven’t made the decision to go or not. I’ve been to UST, ATENEO, and UP tryouts, and I’m currently handled my Tumakbo Basketball, the information that I’ve got going through these tryouts is they look for tall players here in America around 6’1 and over, while in the Philippines they look for guards who are typically my height. The reason I’m sharing this information is because colleges except for ATENEO and UP are not looking for tall guards especially the PG position. Those schools already have existing PG’s within their roster. The reason why they don’t recruit tall PG’s is that undersized PG’s in the Philippines already excel in their position and are often trustworthy with coaches hence is why we don’t see tall PG’s at all in the College scene in the Philippines. Players who are undersized PG’s born and raised in the Philippines that have been successful internationally are Terrence Romeo, Johnny Aberientos, Rj Aberientos, Kiefer Ravena, and Sj Belangel. The one thing they all have in common is they’re all 5’10 and under, but they excel at their position with unique skillsets.

    • @n.a.flogio7786
      @n.a.flogio7786 Год назад +1

@@edancore1951 your forgot to mention former Gilas guards like Jayson Castro, Jimmy Alapag, and LA Tenorio. Those PG you mention are potential superstars in the future and already superstars and legends in PBA right now. And yes, they do share the same height in the Philippines; they're 5'11 and below. Personally, I too have no issue on under size PG. In Basketball height is a big factor, but their are also other big factors like skills, IQ, and leadership which can make difference at every player. It just happens that the culture here and in other countries are different, even the approach of basketball organizations there are very competitive. Look at European teams, they're really competitive in terms of developing their young players now. They have an excellent basketball programs, combined with their already competitive leagues, BOOM! (I know it's really not that simple, but I just simplified what I want.) I wish Philippines can have a developmental leagues, that produces high quality talents and is internationally competitive. I think in order for the Philippines to have an excellent and competitive basketball program like Europe, Australia, or USA, is we need to be a rich/developed country first. Developed Asian countries like Japan, China, and South Korea are no exception, they're more focus on developing their own leagues. You see corruption in broad daylight is still rampant here, and the Basketball Organizations and big business owners here doesn't think outside the box on what can they do to improve our basketball competitiveness internationally. They care more about winning, and not on player development matters. Sorry for being political all this time 😅.

Great defense this window. Keep that as a foundation. For this team, and for all future editions of the NT. And from youth to seniors sana.
Hopefully sa next window, Carl Tamayo, Will Navarro, Justine Baltazar, RJ Abarrientos, and SJ Belangel can be considered for the pool. Pwede silang options for the roster.
And, nice, pronouncing Franz Wagner correctly. Hahahahaha.

I think Ph Basketball in general ang dapat nating isipin kung ano ang susunod na mangyari. I'm sorry I've lost my interest in Gilas and PBA since Baldwin-MVP issue, idagadag mo pa lantarang 2 companies na lang ang PBA.

For the 🇵🇭 to improve as soon as possible:
    (For upcoming international tournaments)
    Centers- Kai Sotto, A.J. Edu
PF - Junmar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Justin Baltazar
SF- Kobe Paras, Jamie Malonzo, Carl Tamayo
SG- Jordan Clarkson, Jordan Heading, Dwight Ramos
PG- C.J. Perez, Dalph Panopio, Terrence Romeo or Scottie Thompson
Head Coach- Someone new, European, Young and a WINNER (no learning experience needed)
    Reserves:
    Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
    Matthew Wright
    Marcio Lassiter
    Greg Slaughter
    Ravena Brothers
    R.J. Abarientos
Kevin Quiambao (but has to play as a Shooting Guard)
    Rhenz Abando
    Ian Sangalang
    Troy Rosario
    Maverick Ahanmisi
    Ethan Alvano
    Naturalized Pool:
Mikey Williams (though a possibility of him being a local can be considered soon)
    Quincy Miller
Stanley Pringle (same case with Mikey Williams)
Christian Standhardinger (same case with Stanley Pringle)
    Justin Brownlee
    Ange Koaume
Kai Balungay (same case with Mikey Williams)
Joshua Hardeman (born and raised in the Philippines but does not have any "Filipino blood")
    Juan Gomez De Llano
Jason Brickman (same case with Mikey Williams)
    NO MORE GREED AND POLITICS
The national team should play against European Pro clubs for scrimmage/ tune-up games for preparation.
Top prospects should consider playing overseas especially in Europe where Basketball is Top-tier when it comes to professionalism, system, and more. (NBA is better in market valud and individual talent but European Pro Leagues are better as Professionals)
    Philippine Professional Basketball leagues:
    NO MORE POLITICS!
    HOME AND AWAY FORMAT.
    NO MORE "SISTER TEAMS"
    MERGE WITH THE MPBL
    NO MORE "HEIGHT LIMIT"
    NO MORE "FIL-FOREIGN RULES"
    HIGHER SALARY FOR THE PLAYERS
THE LEAGUE (or leagues) should have a "relegation system" just like the Euroleague, Eurocup, Basketball Champions League, FIBA Europe Cup, Liga ACB, French League, and most leagues in Europe. Even the B LEAGUE follows this format.
grassroots or youth to pros program ala European Basketball system where kids are trained by a certain Pro team to become part of their youth squad and will eventually be promoted as a member of their actual Pro team and Pro B team.
New state of the art facilities and venues
up to 4 international imports per team (Asian or non-Asian)
Hire battle-tested European Coaches or even non Euro coaches who are actual tacticians and winners.
Might I add, the so-called "East Asia Super League" should expand to become an "Asia and Pacific Pro League" (teams from China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Kazahkstan, Kuwait, Qatar, and even Australia and New Zealand) to create a Euroleague or Basketball Champions League -like continental Super Pro League to further improve this hemisphere's level of Basketball.
Do or join invitational teams that will get opportunities to play against international Pro Clubs to play against tougher, more talented and better competition.
And the same situation goes to Volleyball, Football, Rugby, Baseball and most team sports in the Philippines.
As for Boxing, they need proper funding and support to send boxers overseas for better financial opportunity.
Or Manny Pacquiao can open a Boxing Academy for aspiring young boxers to train to be sent overseas for international fights, with this he can produce hundreds of future world champs. (The same goes with MMA. So take note, MMA Fighters)
Billiards? They just have to take notes on how Efren Reyes have done it. Also, Billiards has to be properly funded.
Tennis? Proper international exposure and has to hire foreign coaches and managers. Grassroots training at an early age.
Our Coaches, managers and trainers should go to international classes about Pro Sports Management to improve their ways of handling a team or an Athlete
Other sports? Just the right funding and support from the Government and private sectors.
I believe if we throw away pride and politics, the Filipino Sports landscape will change for the better and even excel.
