That was my first ever live doctor who episode. Woke up to my parents bbc america channel not working and called my grandparents so I would watch it at their house.
Hey... So fun to see you here! I guess it makes sense you'd watch doctor who reactions. Love your channel! Can't wait for your next video!! It's gonna be a tough one!
They didn't show it, but this episode has a line I will never forget. "The most compassionate people you will ever meet, empathics. And the loneliest." That line hit a chord with me the first time I heard it and like many of the comments in this episode, I felt it was actually referring to the doctor.
I must say, my favorite thing about these reactions since Jenna/Clara was introduced is how Eric and Shane can't get over how cute and beautiful she is. And I agree! Reminds me of how Twelve would say stuff like "how do your eyes get so big?" He, too, was sometimes powerless before her big round eyes lol. edit: Oh! They are talking about how they've heard about what people say about Clara. Great discussion there! I'm with Shane's friend, Clara is my all-time favorite companion, and I'm glad Shane loves (is IN love with) her. So much great stuff coming up for Clara and Twelve. I say this all time, but theirs is the most fascinating/compelling Doctor-companion relationship.
I love the 12/Clara relationship so much, and I love how much she wants to be the Doctor and how it hurts her instead. I always thought I'd much rather be the Doctor than a companion, and it's only logical that a conpanion wants to be the Doctor too.
@@mussoletart8485 The thing you love about her is what I hate. If you met a 2000+ year old time/space travelling alien, the least you could do is show them a lot of respect, instead she treated him like shit. She constantly threatened to leave, then came back the next episode as if nothing ever happened. Her arrogance and recklessness is what got her killed, showing that being the Doctor isn't the role a companion should play. I don't like how she was brought back, because it ruined the entire purpose of Heaven Sent, and undermined the emotion at the end of Face the Raven. She was alright in series 7, but after that story arc ended, I feel like there was nothing left to do with the character.
Eric and Shane me watching Doctor Who for the first time, falling in love with Clara (and JLC) and calling her super cute non-stop. I am so so happy they like her and they like this season so far. I've never understood why this half-season was so disliked. It was my introduction to the series, and imo it serves as a great starting point for both introducing the types of stories Doctor Who could have as a time-and-space-travelling show *and* bringing back and referencing lore from the show's long history in preparation for the 50th. None of the episodes sucked, the Doctor-companion relationship was off the charts, what's not to love???
Greetings from the future 🖖🏼 Well if you loved seasons 1-4 and like seasons 5 and 6. This show at it's core feels very different. Once Doctor Who started getting a bigger budget and moved towards these big mysteries and long story arcs, it just wasn't the same. It just isn't the same quirky and fun show that it was with the 9th and 10th doctor's. And the 11ths first season (5). When The doctor picked up Amy and Clara, he did so because a huge mystery surrounds them, not just because there life is a disappointment and they crave to experience something more. But with Amy, a random crack in the wall was a curiousity, but not a huge deal. Then 6 they had to bring in the doctor dying but only the companions know! 7 is a girl dying and reincarnating over and over. Moffett is about huge storylines and connections and not about closing your eyes and just going wherever the Tardis leads you. You get some of that with series 6 plus, but there is an intense feeling of not being satisfied with the episode you just watched and enjoy the side quests because you are intensely curious about WTF happened on episode one and there are more and more questions. It was probably to keep people watching the whole season, but since it was such a big change, it was really frustrating. And you are talking a good 10 months of waiting. (Season 6 Doctor dies episode 1, then we had to wait almost a year for the final finale to figure out how and why. Some people are ok with and love this new mysterious, long arc story telling, but if you really loved and were invested in the first 4-5 seasons, it's a very different feeling you get while watching the show.
I always wished we could meet Emma and Alec again. Maybe one day Big Finish will manage to wrangle Dougray Scott and Jessica Raine together for an audio series.
Dougray Scott is the original actor cast for Wolverine in the X-MEN movies. He had to drop out to an injury and it went to an unknown Aussie actor named Hugh Jackman... :)
Enjoyed their discussion about reacting to Doctor Who and the differences in style and form between Moffat era who and RTD era who. It's no secret I prefer the later era stuff (not a popular opinion on RUclips), and it's great to see them still really investing in the show, as I love Matt Smith and think some of Capaldi's stories are among the best written in television.
Moffat’s sensibilities and storytelling seems to appeal to me more then Davies did (though I did enjoy his run). Certainly both are better then Chibnall right now
I enjoyed lots of Matt Smith and Capladi's era but I did find in some occassions at the backend of Moffat's run some of the stories/explainations became a little self-indulgent. I feel like RTD's storylines were perhaps more consistent but I did still enjoy many Capaldi episodes
@Tom Monty I think Heaven Sent is up there with the best episodes of television I have ever seen. Up there with the best episodes of The Wire, Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Deadwood, Breaking Bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Mad Men.
Quite the underrated episode this one ! Everybody forgets it but its pretty damn good ! And damn yeah guys, recapturing the feeling of the first time is exactly why I love reaction vids !
There is a good piece of fan art for this episode that I came across. It was the Doctor's speech about a boy and girl getting separated and it was over a picture of Rose alone on the beach in Doomsday.
Isnt that blue crystal in the headpiece the doctor gets out an easter egg from one of the REALLY old episodes, 3rd doctor i think? Cant remember exactly but i i think it was something to do with psychic spiders invading earth
Jon Pertwee (3rd) went to Metebelis 3 at the beginning of The Green Death and retrieved a blue crystal, known for their mental-enhancement capabilities. In the following series the crystal was stolen as it was the missing piece of the jigsaw to give the giant spider queen ultimate power. Based on a true story.
@@gilanes not sure. Moffat was still writing the episode when Hide has been started filming. It may be a reason or a consequence. The first 5 episodes aired in September 2012, then _The Snowmen_ Christmas special, then the remaining 8 episodes from March to May 2013. Basically the reason _The Snowmen_ was later than you'd expect in production order is because they had time to do that, and Steven Moffat is notorious for being late with scripts.
The TARDIS doesn't like Clara because of her Impossible Girl aspect. It's a time thing, and the TARDIS doesn't like time things. Like how when Jack hugged it and she ran to the end of the universe.
I like this episode for the reasons they cited: it has a bit of everything in it, but it works well in my opinion. It starts as a ghost story, changes into a time travel / alien world, which is expected in DW, then it's revealed that it was a love story all along! We also get to see Clara realise the scope of time travel and imagine how the Doctor feels, her relationship with the Tardis, the guest characters are quite good, and we see the Doctor still struggling to understand what Clara is (even though we're given the answer in this episode, we just don't know it yet.)
I’ve gotta be honest, I actually lowkey like the rest of the seasons episodes a lot. Just so many funny moments for Matt Smith and for myself very enjoyable.
Original Wolverine Dougray Scott is the guy in the glasses. Scheduling conflict while shooting Mission Impossible 2 made it impossible ironically for Scott to shoot Xmen and he was replaced at the last minute with Hugh Jackman. The rest is history

In this episode Clara says "Ignorance it Carlisle". Now I dunno if that is a reference to anything particular but I come from Carlisle and well.... I cant argue but I more curious if she is referring to this City or something else. Looking back at it, parts of the aesthetic reminded me of The Haunting of Hill House. Would recommend you check that one out, btw!
eric looks amazing in this video
12:13, That's one weird dog.
3:51 me when I'm walking out of my bedroom
The pocket dimension here reminded me of Purgatory in Supernatural.

Shane wanting more dinosaurs 😂
Why has no one asked how they are running around and the candles didn't go out? Has anyone tried to keep an unprotected candle alight whilst moving about?
Personally I find a lot of 7b to be filler episodes but the discussion this week was really interesting! This is why I love Blind Wave. Even with the episodes I don't particularly care for your videos are still great! ♥️
Well, I’ve realized they hit the point I haven’t seen most of the episodes. I have seen the 50th though.
Would love to see you guys react to the 80s classic mini series "V"
This episode is actually decent imo. Btw Alec Palmer is Sean Ambrose from Mission Impossible 2 (Dougray Scott).
Yeah in meanwhile in the tardis with Amy the doctor explains why he has companions I believe you guys reacted to it
LOVE DEATH +ROBOTS #reaction

You're very young :)
Eh, I’m 19 next month so not that young.
Don't know why but this episode never clicked for me.
Looking forward to next week... or is it back? Inward? Wibbly.

From 1:15 to 1:21 I was dying of laughter
