🪄HOOK SIZE: I am using a 3.5 mm size Nelsonwood hook in this tutorial, you can find more info here:
www.nelsonwood.net/store/c1/S...
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
size 1: 3.25mm to 3.5mm
3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 3.75mm
Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4mm to 4.5mm.
THE YARN: I'm using size 3 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
Color A: PaintBox Yarn Simply DK in Mint Green
Color B: Stylecraft Special DK in Mustard
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN!
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
*Baby blanket: 124 chains depending on yarn size used
*Place mats: 64 chains
*Messenger bag: 64 chains for body of bag, work until desired height of panel is achieved
*Purse/Bag handle & sides (as shown on my messenger bag): 204 total starting chain in size 3 yarn with 3.5mm hook, finished off with a row of SC in color A to end and strengthen with a round of Slip Stitch in all stitches.
*Table Runner: 64 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
*Throw blanket : 174 chains, yarn size will affect total width and the number of repeats is up to you and will determine total length
*Tote or Throw Pillow: 64 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
*Makeup or Notions bag: 34, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
*Scarf: 34 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. Wide scarf: 64 Chains; Shawl: 94 chains
***IN THE ROUND projects*** Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video:
Slouchy Hat:
Size 1 Lace Weight: 90 chains for Adult small 18" hat, in size 1 yarn with a 3.5mm hook (23sts x 24 rows = 4"×4"; to increase/decrease size, add/subtract in sets of 10 stitches, each 10 stitches increased/descreased will change hat size by approximately 2".
Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used and tension chain 80
Bag or Tote: 60 chains to 120 chains depending on desired size & yarn size
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 40 to 60 in⁶l chains
You can create any project you like from Mosaic Crochet, these are just a few suggestions!
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 10 and slip stitch to the first chain. begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into) and follow the Repeat as given in the video.
