1mm IS a lot because of how stress works on the tie-rods. The failures are buckling failures and buckling resistance, "strength" is proportional to the fourth power of radius/diameter. So 15mm vs 14mm is only 7% bigger, but it is 30% stronger for the applied load.

Great Video! As others mentioned, the 2023 Bronco Wildtrack now gets the HOSS 3.0 standard, which includes "the Ford Performance Severe-Duty upgraded steering rack from the Bronco Raptor, upgraded inner and outer tie rods." HOSS 3.0 was an option on the 2022 Bronco Wildtrack and I don't think available on the Badlands, or other variants.
@@KN-jw7ts Nope, they are just building less, because they are building less Sasquatch bronco in total right now. Wildtrak is standard with Sasquatch, there is no option to remove it, very much like there was no option to remove hardtop from the 4dr Wildtrak in 2021 and from 2drs for any year. Rumors are that there is a limited number of sasquatch wheels and/or Goodyear cannot produce enough tires.
@@KN-jw7ts well I own a 2022 2Door Wildtrak and I added the HOSS 3.0 that does include the Raptor steering Rack and Tie Rods. All 2023 Wildtracks come standard with the HOSS 3.0. Anybody that thought or was arguing that the bronco Raptor suspension, etc., components were the same as base or sasquatch broncos just didn't bother to know the difference. It is not like Ford, kept it a secret. They released lots of diagrams specifically calling out what was changed. For me they share the same body carriage, but beyond that there are so many differences that it is really like a different vehicle. Throw the HOSS3.0 package in with some 22.5 Wildtraks and the MY23, and you have people really confused. If I had a raptor, I would still go ahead and get rid of the light duty skid plates and replace with aluminum ones. If I was setting the raptor up as a more dedicated crawler, and if I could get rid of the sway bar disconnect without all sorts of computer issues, then that would be an potential option. The system is good for parlor tricks, but a manual release or no sway bar is better in that situation. I would probably keep the rear bumper until I trashed it, then replace it. Portals, sounds fun, expensive, but probably too much for my uses.
Would portal axles fix the deficiencies on a Badlands? Not all but some? Would be interesting to know for folks considering that route. Awesome videos, been watching some older ones, you guys deserve every bit of success you’ve earned. Keep at it.

I purchased a Raptor for about the same price as yours and am trying to get insurance. I have not been able to find anyone that will insure it for more than MSRP which is quite a bit less than I paid. Can you recommend some insurance companies that will insure a vehicle for what it actually would cost to replace it?
The threaded part on the tie rod looks thicker on the Raptor. The part you guys didn't measure. The threads not as deep, the body not as skinny,. At least by eyecrometer. Remember that it is the bottom of the thread groove that is the real body thickness of a shaft. Oh, god, now you guys have me talking like that. Just forget it.

Great video! but... you forgot to mention ride comfort. The additional girth of the control arms will make for a much smoother ride (which ladies appreciate). With solid axles you have the 2 brake pistons slamming home at the same time on both ends of the axle which makes for an up and down jarring ride. Whereas for the IFS in general you have the pistons sliding in on opposire ends at different times which most riders find very enjoyable. Now in the raptor version, you have larger pistons but the additional girth of the suspension helps smooth the ride which is a much improved "motion of the ocean" experience.

I like the bronco and appreciate what Ford is trying to do, but as a Jeeper what I question about their design is the simple fact that if you look at strength and stress test numbers steering and axle manufacturers utilize when designing tie rods and axle shafts for our jeeps, why wouldn't the ford Engineers have similar design specs meaning 1.5 to 1.75 inch sizing for those rods and whatever the axle shaft converts too like the Advantek M210 axle.?? Although many of those won't ever leave the Malls or soccer fields (like many jeeps too), with that package being so aggressive it seems like a no brainer.
