i did the same shit with my 4s the transparent glass xd same i used a sergical knife to remove the black colour and painted the metal parts witch u can see on the back cover to black with the sharpie

Big tip Hugh, if you want to better remove the back glass paint next time, make sure to heat it up with a lighter before removing the paint. It comes off much more easily that way.

I created the worlds first Optus x sleek (Alcatel shine light) with a see through back inspired by you! I also had to do the extensive scratching of the back panel glass but it was so worth the time it looks amazing! Also sealed the screen back down with clear bathroom tile sealant which works surprisingly well thanks to jerryrigeverything😂

You inspire me. I repaired an iPhone 3GS and downgraded it to iOS 4.1 the other day. The repair went pretty badly, despite me having great experience with this sort of stuff, but at least the phone works now

Of coarse u can.U would need to completely take it apart to do so.But because its anodized aluminum the paint wouldnt stick the greatest.And would chip extremely easy.But u could possibly have it powder coated and that finnish last longer cause its baked on.Only thing is the thickness of the powder coating would possibly make things fit tighter or possibly not work at all cause of its thickness.Examples being all the side buttons and sim card tray,etc.

you inspired me to buy an iphone and repair it, i started with something small and inexpensive to repair to sell afterward. ive repaired a couple devices of my own batteries, replaced broken glass backs, and a display on a few types of devices and even custom backs for an iphone 4s. should be a fun side project lol

This is dope. I’m going to swap my 4 display onto my 4s now that I know it’s possible. The 4 had a better Samsung panel. The 4s came from Toshiba and had really muted colors

Hi, I have problem with my iphone 7 plus.. The phone's vibration (tapticEngine) sometime turn off itself.. its not because the side button or toggle off from the setting (I have trying but no function). Its working again after restarting the phone and not working again. Sorry my bad english..😔

Funny you did this 2 days after I did my own iPhone 4 if you need to make a custom back and dont want the back too scratched up get a emery board and file away at the paint (You may lose the apple logo depending). The only scratch I had on my back plate came from me using a knife to remove the back plate from the plastic.

Hi Hugh was looking at your Instagram story and saw the problem with your iPhones proximity sensor that is working even when your not on a call. I had this on my old 6s and a hard reset fixed it.

iFixit US sells transparent back glasses, which i used on my CDMA iPhone 4 and it looks nice. But it does not have the iPhone text or an apple logo

At the cost of your home button and backplate, make a actually fully transparent iphone 6 by removing the backlight and buy a transparent housing. (Also a transparent glass found at ebay of course as well as the transparent housing...)

I made a clear iPhone 4s back and I didn’t have problems with sratching the apple logo. I started with a razor blade being careful not to touch the logo and when the logo and the text were the only things surrounded by paint I used a plastic tool to get the material off without damaging the logo. The logo is a bit translucent, so you have to make sure to eliminate all the paint from underneath. The problem that I had was with the back metal, the plastic frame broke when I was trying to separate them. How did you do that?

Hi Hugh i purchased a 2nd hand iphone 4s but i cannot enter the verification code on my icloud account, i receive the 6 digit code on my ipad, but on the phone the box to enter the number doesn't show up to enter the code... i contacted apple but they informed me the software was too old 7.1.2 can you offer any assistance please.
