When you can get 70-85% of the Rolex Submariner by paying 1% of the Rolex Hulk at retail / 0.5% of Hulk at grey markets, You know Rolex is way too overpriced.
I guess you've seen the clip of the ex US airman with his ( unworn!?) Rolex that he bought with 1 month's salary. I believe it was US$300 in 1975. Currently, in any western country 1 month's average wage will not buy you are a new Rolex. Then again, you can get a good replica for pennies. Yeah, I haven't even convinced myself that's better, but..
It is, in fact, a superb watch. I have the blue one and in 12 days I've been wearing it it has gained just 20 seconds. That is a phenomenal performance. It is beautifully made, sits well on the wrist and looks stunning. I love it so much I ordered the Dayton's homage which I was fortunate to get in the UK for £10 less than the official Pagani Design shop. Pagani Design do design their own watches but they are catering for the massive demand of these two particular particular homages. Both perform exceedingly well and the Subby is being resold on eBay in the UK at up to three times the Pagani Design shop price and people, strangely, are paying it. Exceedingly good value for money and I don't see how they can continue to sell them at this price for too much longer. I think I'll invest in one of each colour!
Thanks for sharing that experience Steve - you got quite lucky with the very good regulation on your watch, but overall I think there’s going to be considerable variation among users. As for whether Pagani designs anything, I’m not sure I’ve seen a truly original piece from them (that doesn’t mean there aren’t any) - most times when someone points out a Pagani they believe to be original, it’s just that they weren’t aware of the watch being copied. Very interesting to hear that these are being sold for profit there! Cheers, Ivan.
Steven Booth Bought the black dial before Xmas only sized it yesterday and in over 24hrs it is still spot on to the second.. Fantastic watch.. will treat myself to the Green for my birthday in June 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Got two during the annual 11:11 sale. A biz friend saw it on my wrist and he was quite astounded. He asked me if I would be "...disgusted to see another Pagani with the same Submariner or Deepsea design walk in ?" I quickly asked him if he would be upset to see another man with the same Rolex he was wearing. He replied: "I never thought about it like that." In the end, a modicum of quality at a decent price is what most men want for a great looking tool watch.
Haha interesting question that... personally I would be stoked if I ever saw anyone with a Pagani Design, it is an instant conversation starter! A modicum of quality at a decent price is always desirable. I would say this gives a modicum of quality *and* some freaking astounding specs at a nearly unbelievable price! :)

I've had mine about 3 months now, overall love the watch only minor gripes is the flip lock adjustment on the clasp, daredn't touch it incase it brakes plus the clasp has a few sharp edges. For me it has great accuracy at +5 seconds a day the bezel action is good and like yours my lume really is pretty good, don't know what everyone is complaining about. 👍
Bought one a few months ago. Amazing watch for the price - Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, nh35 movt etc ! My only gripe would be the cyclops could have been finished a little better, but awesome package none the less.
I just got my Pagani Design PD1639 today! It was really due to the recommendation of JOMW. The value at around 65 USD is simply amazing! Pros: -Seiko NH35 movement is reliable and offers hacking and hand-winding, and display case back is nice -Sapphire crystal -Generally good finishing on the bracelet and the watch head -Ceramic bezel -Applied indices -Screw link adjustment and solid end links, milled clasp -100m water resistance Cons: -43mm size is definitely on the large size -21mm lug width is an odd size so you can't easily swap it out for other straps -Weak (almost non-existent) lume -90 click bezel which has a bit of back play and not the best feeling when you rotate the bezel -Crown action isn't very smooth -Easy link micro-adjustment clasp isn't working as intended. I can't seem to get it to click back in place
Thanks for sharing those thoughts - yeah pretty much agree with all that, and yes, the blue color is a sticker. It falls apart and is not the easiest to get off, but it can be done. Cheers!
Okay. I will try to peel it off then. It's strange as it doesn't feel like a protective sticker. Haha. Thanks! Now my only gripe is the easy link/micro adjustment not engaging at all.
I was waiting for this video, found myself checking your channel couple of times a day ever since the pool! Great review! Even though I have couple of much higher end pieces this is a massive value/money proposition and I couldnt resist. Jody already had me sold on the watch, I ordered mine on 11.11 and I am waiting to get it anyday now. Keep up the awesome reviews!
Haha awesome, thanks for that! I hope you enjoy it and that it doesn't have any major QC issues like some other viewers have reported! Wishing you a blessed and safe Christmas :)
The watch came today. It looks pretty sharp for the price. The only downside is the 90 click bazle does not align perfect with 12 o'clock and the bracelet feels kind of cheap and light The watch is beautiful overall, and there are no major QC issues with it. However I also bought a second pagani a pd2770 mocktail time which is very beautiful piece to look at but works horribly the seconds hand beats anywhere from 6 times per second to once every few seconds. So the QC issues are real with this brand im glad the sub is ok.
@@christianmalone1857 both are automatic but in the pd2770 instead of NH35 they have used a seagull which is apperantly a miyota replica. You can check it out type in "mocktail time" in the searchbar, beautiful watch but apperantly their QC is non existant.
Due to the reviews of Perth Watch (thank you) and JOMW I ordered one from Aliexpress for $64 and $2,45 charged for using Paypal. Better safe than sorry and I ain't "Penny Wise Pound Foolish". The Black version arrived to the Netherlands in only six days and it's a stunner! Looks better on my wrist than the 40 diameter divers I own, the 21 mm bandsize is odd, but I hate metal bracelets, so the 22 mm. Bond 5 ring Zulu is on now. I have several watches from "average" to "high end" and for this price it's one you'll won't be disappointed off. Great quality, nice features, good movement and it's all said before in the reviews. I purchased it as a daily beater, but I like it so very much I'm carefull not to wreck it. And for the guys, who think their personality has to come from expensive watches, cars and clothes here's my advice: I've been there, I've done that and it's just make believe and fake. Remember Rolex once was the beater watch for the British Marine, so get over it and have some fun on the beach, sailing or during a night out with the Pagani Design. Lighten up your live!
Hey vraagje, wat is de omtrek van jouw pols? Want ik heb dus juist het idee dat deze voor mij misschien iets te groot is, maar wie weet hebben we vergelijkbare polsen.
You know, I was absolutely loathe to buy a Pagani Design watch until very recently, and then Jody over JOMW did a review of this thing, and they were running a screamin' sale for something like 60 bucks, and I figured I could not lose and I bought 2, in 2 colorways -- one in a gaudy black dial and 2-tone bracelet/bezel and this green one you showed us. (Why not go ALL the way, I thought.) I have been amazed at what good time-keepers they are. (I'm getting about +4 seconds/day.) On one hand, it's "Pagani Design" and I'd rather have had an unbranded choice, but between the decent magnifier, the movement, the sapphire crystal, the general appearance and the fit, it's an amazing deal. Like, stunning. Here's a real classy beater. Worth nothing for resale and not worth servicing, but you can wear it in the pool or the shower or to the beach or in the garage or while digging up the garden and you don't have to give it a second thought. It's great. I love it.
Thanks for the thoughts Randy - pretty much agree with all those sentiments you share there! It is really quite an astounding piece for the price, particularly spec wise. Even regarding resale, it looks far more expensive than it really is, and if I'm lucky I can easily get the asking price back on local resale! Cheers, Ivan :)
Congrats Randy... ! I myself bought the Black and the Green versions and they satisfy that horrible "ROLEX NEED" that most civilized men have BUT never talk about. 😂
@@rdxtec If you have NO black Submariner homage watches in your collection, than ,try the black one. But if you have several other black dial diver watches (Seiko, Orient, Vostok, Orin, Casio, etc), than try the Green one. It will blow your mind. And I also find that the "dirty green shade" of colour used on the dial and on the bezel is far more sophisticated than the lovely but loud LOREO BRIGHT EMERALD GREEN, which is far too flashy and comes across as cheap-looking.
I recieved my green hulk Pagani Design pd1639 today July 20 2020. I am happy to convey that the lume has gotten better. Surprising. Even the bezel is perfectly centered and the cyclops is perfectly straight with no drooping as I have seen in some videos. I am very pleasantly satisfied and impressed with what you get for the price. Yes, the bezel still has a bit of back play, but I'm fine with that. Last week I also got the pd1639 in black and gold. The lume is obviously worse on that watch, but something I can live with. Still something I think Pagani is addressing as we speak as mentioned above. The accuracy is less than +2 secs per day and has just varied between -1 and +2 secs/day this week maybe because if my different activities day to day. I am really pleased. Btw Perth Watch, I really appreciate your interesting and well made videos. 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
That's awesome man, sounds like you got an excellent specimen of the model! Unfortunately I think this doesn't in any way guarantee Pagani Design's overall QC has improved to a level where all customers will have similar excellent experience... that's one thing they have been notorious for to this day...
I received this watch (1639) a few days ago. When I first opened the box I thought that they had sent me a black version by error. Today, in the light of day, it is indeed green. It is much darker than in the website photos. I am not much of a Rolex person and I will wear this to hear the comments from the Rolexophiles that I work with. Likes: well done homage, decent movement, sapphire crystal and it is keeping decent time running about 10 seconds fast. I was able to regulate the movement without any problem. Dislikes: clasp is very, very stiff. I have had to use a small flat screw driver to engage the flip. Hopefully, it will improve with time. The screw down crown needs a little more purchase as it barely has a half rotation before being fully engaged. The 90 click bezel does not quite align at twelve and the bezel top. For less than $70.00 it is a great deal. I might just buy one of these for my daughter's boyfriend for his birthday.
Excellent reviews Ivan, not only on this Pagani review but all the other tremendously helpful videos. I just ordered the PD-1639 in black but think I want to upgrade the bracelet. Do you reckon a Strapcode 20mm Super-O Boyer would do the job fit-wise? Any other suggestions? Thanks from Canada!
Thanks for the positive feedback - really much appreciated! I haven’t had the chance to look into the details of bracelet change here so I’m afraid I don’t really know the answer to that...
Great video. The Pagani Design PD-1661 (40mm dial/20mm lugs etc) is nearer to the Submariner. Also, the latest versions have a better bezel action, better lume and generally fixed other griped people had.
I have this watch long time ago. Keeps working like the first day. It's a tough watch and 100% waterproof. I use this watch daily and never let me down. Thanks for the video
I couldn’t buy a Subby Hulk, I opted for The Rado Captain Cook Green. Absolutely in love with it. Vintage inspired diver with a beautiful racing green dial and bezel. In my eyes it pays homage without directly copying. Comes on a really comfortable bead of rice bracelet. I’d recommend anyone to try one on in person if they see it in an AD All the best Ali
Awesome choice mate, I really like the look of that watch! Quality for a fraction of the price of the Sub, not to mention looking nothing like a Sub too! PS. wouldn't they call that "sea green"?
Perth WAtch seems to be very underrated. Have only seen Horology House and Take Time with Pat really review The Captain Cook. Hell of a lot of watch for the money. PS. Nah definitely racing green. The colour Reminds me of a vintage Jag. All the best Ali
Thinking of buying this as a beater watch I m a landscape gardener honestly will this last 6 months before falling apart or is it reasonable well made. Cheers.
Been wearing mine for a month and am very happy. I have no problems with the lume. If the room is dark enough to not see the dial, I can see the lume - all night! The crown does its job in all positions and is not difficult to screw down or wind. It gains 6 or 7 seconds a day, so every 10 days or so I just hack it for a minute. It has stopped a couple times even though I wear it while sleeping, taking it off only to shower. Maybe the quarantine has made me too sedentary.
Glad to hear the lume works well for you - it certainly isn't as good as that on my one. If the movements stops when the watch is one your wrist, that's not an issue with being too sedentary... that's a poor QC issues, which unfortunately PD is notorious for.
At 3 in the morning the watch still has enough lume to easily tell the time. Not the worst I have ever seen. The band width is 21mm so band exchanges are problem. The only thing I would have modified is the safety clasp. You got to get your nail just right to get it open. So far I brought 3 for gifts and for myself. (2blk, 1 grn). Not sure about the blue one yet. Comparison Pag Des Orient XL Crystal 10 6 Movement 10 6 Bezel 9 7 Band 6 9 End Links 10 5 Exhib Back 10 6 Looks 7 10 Lume 7 9 Total 69 58 Cost $75 $165 The PD does offer a very good value proposition. The XL is a great looking watch, just wish they would up the performance specs.
Thanks for the thoughts and those comparisons marks. One of the big problems Pagani have is their QC. Mine is still quite possibly the worst lume I have seen... if yours is better, then that's a QC problem. The lug width on my watch is 21mm as measured by calipers... this is objective fact that is not up for discussion or debate. If yours is in fact 22mm then that is a variation in their product line which is frustrating to consumers.
Question: How can you take the pushpin out to adjust the clasp? Is it a 21mm pushpin? I bought the watch and loving it, but I just cannot take out the pushpin to adjust the clasp with my spring-bar tool. Please advice.
The most common test uses a single drop of solution to distinguish between low and high molybdenum content. The “Moly Drop” test will distinguish between 304/304L and 316/316L, but the test will also give a positive result with 317/317L, 904L, the 6% Mo grades, 444, 2205 and the super duplex grades. The test requires a clean, dry, grease-free surface and it sometimes helps to lightly abrade the surface. In practical watch enthusiast use we can't know and have to try and trust the manufacturer. Thanks for the review.
How do you account for the price differences between the Rolex and that watch..? Apart from the quality of certain materials where does the £8000 tag come from?
The simple answer is that I don’t really know :) But here’s an estimate based on what’s I’ve read/heard: At most the actual manufacturing cost (materials, labour, infrastructure costs) likely factor no more than 20% of the cost of a Rolex. R&D factors some additional proportion. The largest chunk is most likely marketing - getting Federer and other celebrities to wear it everywhere and pasting your name all over F1 telecasts would be immensely expensive.
Thanks for the wonderful review, Ivan! I will get the blue dial version for Christmas. I hope it will also have the sunburst effect like the green version. USD$61.49 seems to be the cheapest for now :D
I just received mine from China. I find the crown very difficult to unscrew and to screw down is that normal on this watch or do I need to get with AliExpress and send it back
I have a couple of these with different dial colors. I just wish the hands were longer/larger and they used better lume. But that's why it's so inexpensive.

Great review. I own the same watch and it's fantastic value for money. I think I paid around $65 for mine and I've been thinking about getting a two-tone one too. The Daytona homage PD does looks great too (especially for being a VK63 mecha-quartz with a sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and a solid bracelet), any chance of a review? They go for around $75 on AliExpress.
I must have been lucky. I was out of my state of residence, walked into an AD, copped a hulk and walked out. Makes sense why I sold it for a fat profit recently. I only bought it because I liked subs and saw a green sub online and got it to celebrate a milestone. Never knew it was so exclusive.

Personally I would advise taking time to enjoy the Invicta you just purchased. Savour it, see how you like a Sub homage. If the itch scratches again for a different colour, keep in mind the Pagani is 42mm so will not feel quite the same. I have never paid for a watch from AliExpress (although collaborators have sent me watches from there of course)... many have found them OK provided you are patient with regards to postage time. Some have had troubles with customer service... mostly it seems you're fine as long as the watch you receive doesn't have QC issues. All the best.
sapphire crystal and solid end link bracelet with a Seiko moment for that price! that's hard to beat! I would like to get one in to do my own little review, but here in Germany they are at about 100 euros, maybe I will have to try aliexpress again... thanks for the review, stellar as always!
Thanks for that dude... I reckon maybe keep your eye on the listings, these prices fluctuate quite a lot and may drop to a much more palatable level at times. Cheers! :)
This one really pointed out how much my tastes have changed. Five years ago, I was really in to Invicta watches. Now the two things I just can't live with about this watch are the large diameter and poor lume. Funny
Pagani is definitely putting in the effort to produce a very good watch. I think there are not much other brands out there that come close at that price. I got the dress watch in blue and I am very impressed with it. Again with the price in mind. I am thinking about this one to ad to my collection. Nice review as per normal. Thanks fella.
Thanks for that - I reckon there are few that give all the sheer specs this watch gives for the price (think sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, Seiko movement, solid end links, screw bracelet, etc, etc)... In fact I dare say there is none else that match it!
I have the two tone black gold one, I really loved it. The crown wobbling drove me nuts at first, but I got used to it. About the straps, I had no problem fitting a 22mm nylon NATO on it, but eventually I settled for a 20mm leather NATO, it just looked better. I do own another Pagani Design model pd-2720k which is a Seiko mecaquartz vk67 powered chronograph, and I must say I love it as well, it is well built, it does not have a sapphire crystal, but it does cost half the pd-1639.
Thanks for sharing your experiences - my crown doesn’t wobble actually, interesting to hear that. That 2720 model... it’s only $30 something?? That’s awesome value if the build is just as good!
@@PerthWAtch I paid 36$ on 11.11, but I see this price right now from several suppliers on Aliexpress. It is a dressier watch and not a diver, but the build quality, in my opinion, is impeccable. Just for reference, I have 40 watches in my collection, half are vintage watches from my grandfathers (both sides) and half are newer models I bought on my own.
Had one a few weeks now, ordered the blue got sent the green. still happy with it. It doesn't seem that green in low light. My only issue is I have one stiff link on the strap. Apart from that I#m really pleased with it. It's comfy to wear and looks great. I'm never likely to own a Rolex sub so this gives me that look at a great price and on an accurate watch. My first automatic as well.
Thanks for the review, Ivan. The Parnis GMT has been around $75US lately. Spec-monster, 40mm case, 20mm lug space, and easy to find different color bezels.
Yeah Parnis put out some rather kickass pieces too I must say. 20mm makes a whole lot more sense too regardless of the case size (can 39-42mm). I think they don't come with screw link bracelets though right?
@@PerthWAtch I have the Parnis , GMT Master II, Daytona, and Explorer homages, they all came with solid end links screw secured link bracelets . Keep in mind however, Parnis uses Miyota, Tianjin Seagull and Dixmont Guangzhou movements in their popular models.
Yes, I can confirm screw-secured links on the bracelet. The GMT movement is one of these Mingzhou DG. Be extra careful when removing the stem (from the keyless work)
I totally agree. I bought the 40mm GMT black face with black/blue, Batman bezel. Mine has the Miyota movement but runs well. Aprox 6sec day as is. I LOVE the crisp black face. NO other watch has the same sharp high contrast look that this one has. finish is very nice as good or better than most. I do agree with other reviews that the downfall is the clasp. It is vert stiff and THICK. That said, it did not stop me or would it stop me from buying another one. I really like the 24hr GMT function. I have the green Pagani Design and the blue PT Time, That one has a unique case design. These are all good value in my eyes. THANKS Ivan!
@@PerthWAtch hahaha no worries man, i'm just glad the watch didn't come like that I think I might buy one over the invicta pro divers mainly because these have the clasp i like. AND the bezel numbers are engraved and not just painted on like the invicta

That's the hard part finding a good seller. Has anyone had a few good transactions with these and are parnis. Where did you buy
Question: when after a couple of months or years (depending on how much luck) the watch stops, breaks or disintegrates, do you pay to have it repaired or just buy another one ?
It’s a Seiko movement - why would you expect it to just stop? And why would you expect 316L steel to disintegrate? That’s what Omega, Breitling, Tudor, Panerai, etc etc use.
Cool review, I have the blue one & I have to agree from a value point of view that it's hard to beat, I did feel that the strap was Not that good a bit rattly & loose at the clasp pins, so I put mine on a black with blue outer edge stripe silicone diver strap, much better. I got this during the 11/11 sale for about 45 GBP. It really is one of the best money for value watches I've seen. The light catches the dial and ceramic bezel beautifully at times , although in Glasgow at this time of year , light isn't plentiful 🤣 yeah the lume is as poor as anything I've seen since the Casio Duro but the other good points outweigh the bad. Only QC issue I have is the clasp end isn't finished very well and quite jaggy on the corners , if anyone can suggest a easy fix for this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing that. I couldn't believe the specs and price when I heard it and had to get one to see for myself! Some have suggested gentle use of Scotchbrite or similar product to take the jaggedness off, but have to be careful with the polished sides. Cheers!
Perfect size, nice (I have 2 in black) I wish that they would use some more money on the bezel, and a bit thicker link - otherwise, a great watch for the money!

I am done for now buying anything and enjoy these watches with my new wardrobe I started getting early this year. I have this one. My main wishes are: - it to be smaller and - maxicase. I also have their white dial Daytona. Not very legible in my opinion. Nicer size but I'd have liked it a bit heavier. Upgraded the clasp on the Daytone to a slidelock one. Same style, fair price, just no logo.
Why did not they made it in 40mm? The opening mechanism is brilliant, the ceramic bezel is amazing with sapphire crystal it is now truly a bank for buck. I wish Pagani finds a swiss movement keeping the price under $500 it could be a real bluster.

I got this from the 11.11 sale and it was a mixed bag, the watch body is good enough and the screw link bracelet is a nice touch, but the clasp was terrible with the fold over keeper falling off the minute I tried to open it, I had to swap it out for a third party strap but had to go with a 20mm strap since I couldn't find a 21mm strap that looked nice and 22mm was too big, the 90 click bezel was also a bit annoying but still usable, ultimately this homage piece is just ok
Thanks for sharing your experience there - sorry to hear that you had some bad QC issues by the sounds of things. Yeah that 21mm lug width can be rather annoying I think!
I find this outstanding. If you are a true watch lover why would you hate a homage? Maybe it is because you're trying to feel you are better than somthing or someone.
Thanks - the specs are truly outstanding for the price here. Some people dislike homage perhaps because they honestly don’t like the idea of copying. Others might have other motivations, as you alluded to...
Very nice and affordable. I love the ruggedness of Seiko's movements. You can wind it like crazy and you won't have any issues whereas the Sellitta SW200 in my Invicta Sea Monster broke where the stem engages the wheel that winds the watch. I could see some of the fine metal teeth that sheered off. I had to send it back for repair. But this movement could care less. Really tough and nice.
Hmm that’s an interesting story... I wonder if that’s a part that Invicta implemented or if that’s a Sellita issue. The SW200 should theoretically be protected from overwinding.
@@PerthWAtch Since SW200 is a clone of the ETA 2824-1, the hand winding issue was to be expected, according to this forum: forums.watchuseek.com/f2/eta-2824-winding-issue-2322506.html I read one of the posts on there and it's saying that when you hand wind, one of the wheels locks up and stays still while the other winds your watch without the rotor spinning. The changes in direction can affect this wheel over a period of years. In my case it only took months for it to happen.
Thanks for the great review. I have one on order. $64.49 on Aliexpress. It should get in sometime after the holiday. Thanks again, keep up the great work!
@@PerthWAtch Thanks! I think to buy one of those, but still don't know what to choose. I found this comparison. I think the blogger talks in Singlish, but the video has ENG subs ruclips.net/video/1eoupH0wszI/видео.html
Haha that's Indonesian! FYI Singlish is not actually a language but an informal term to describe when Singaporeans mix words from various languages into the (predominantly) English that is spoken.
Mine came in a totally different box ,but everything thing else is the same for just under $100.oo about two years ago and I luv mine and plan to purchase more Pagani Design Time Pieces 😊
The best homage is probably the San Martin. Love to see you review it. Pagani offer great value for money watches, but their bezels and lume are dreadful. 40mm is a little small for many, I think 41mm would have been perfect, mainly because it is my sweet spot
Bought their Daytona homage, not sure if the casing is different to this one, or because of the mecha-quartz, but it feels pretty light. Also, I prefer this fully brushed bracelet to the one Daytona homage has (polished middle links). At this point, I'm enjoying my modded amphibia way more than almost any other watch I have :) although with the cash I put into it, could've bought a much "nicer" diver.
Sure they do - have you seen the new white dial Explorer II? ;) That aside, my comment is purely in relation to 2 facts: 1. There are many Sub homages that provide a color matched date wheel - and I tend to like the look of these 2. There are none under $100 that do this AFAIK
Not a bad looking watch for 75 bucks we need to get use to these Chinese watches getting better and better an the value proposition makes sense for the quality you get for the price .
Hello Ivan. I must say for that money I could live with a 90 click bezel and half dodgy lume,, I mean saphire and ceramic but mostly the movement. Maybe I should get one just for fun.
I have one and it's my daily wear a long side my invicta pro diver the pagani design is a great watch for the price if you don't mind the big lug to lug , cheers ...
@@trevorpeachey8752 thank you for the reply. My beater is a Bertucci A-3P Nato and the daly wearer is a bright yellow Vostok Kommenderski. The Pagani is a bit large but I can do that lug to 😌 I like green so I will get me one of those.
I have this one and the Smurf version as well. I was able to get them for $59 each on AliExpress. I wonder if I had paid full price for them they would not have come with the major QC issues mine did. Thank you for another great review.
@@Zzutubez cracked crystal on the case back on the blue watch, the pin holding the clasp together was not riveted on one side and fell out. Loose end links and horrible finishing, on both watches on the face side of the end links, don't care about the bottom side. And lastly I cannot get the EZ link to snap back together unless I use pliers on both bracelets. Other than that the watches are great.
@@williamrizzo1285 that's a real shame to hear so many faults with the watch. I guess I was lucky as mine arrived in perfect condition with no faults apart from the bezel being misaligned by about 0.5mm. And yes the EZ link is rather difficult to snap back on mine too, but nothing I couldn't do with some extra pressure of my thumbs.
Thanks for sharing that guys... sorry to hear that bad QC strikes again by the sounds of things! I seem to have been particularly lucky with my EZ link as it's not all that tough...
I just ordered one. $112 AUD posted. Just can’t go past those specs. Went for the “hulk” option. Thinking it might also look half decent on a NATO? Did you end up keeping it? Anyone else out there have one of these? How long have you had it and is it any decent? Cheers guys.
When you can get 70-85% of the Rolex Submariner by paying 1% of the Rolex Hulk at retail / 0.5% of Hulk at grey markets, You know Rolex is way too overpriced.
Well said!
@@jaysterling26 When you say replica do you mean clones/fakes/copies? IMO there's a huge jump from an homage/imitation to the former.
Great comment.

@@PerthWAtch Yes, I guess that is to be expected from a brand like this..have to be lucky a bit.
Perth WAtch how would I size it/remove a link?
Easy to do with a watch repair kit, but if in doubt take it to a kiosk or watchmaker.
Bought one a few months ago. Amazing watch for the price - Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, nh35 movt etc ! My only gripe would be the cyclops could have been finished a little better, but awesome package none the less.
Thanks for the thoughts! Yeah there’s a bit of roughness around that cyclops, well spotted!

No problems..will definitely keep watching!!
I just got my Pagani Design PD1639 today! It was really due to the recommendation of JOMW. The value at around 65 USD is simply amazing!
Pros:
-Seiko NH35 movement is reliable and offers hacking and hand-winding, and display case back is nice
-Sapphire crystal
-Generally good finishing on the bracelet and the watch head
-Ceramic bezel
-Applied indices
-Screw link adjustment and solid end links, milled clasp
-100m water resistance
Cons:
-43mm size is definitely on the large size
-21mm lug width is an odd size so you can't easily swap it out for other straps
-Weak (almost non-existent) lume
-90 click bezel which has a bit of back play and not the best feeling when you rotate the bezel
-Crown action isn't very smooth
-Easy link micro-adjustment clasp isn't working as intended. I can't seem to get it to click back in place
The blue coloring on the crown is a protective sticker. Peel it off.
Thanks for sharing those thoughts - yeah pretty much agree with all that, and yes, the blue color is a sticker. It falls apart and is not the easiest to get off, but it can be done. Cheers!
The blue on the crown can be scrapped off.
Okay. I will try to peel it off then. It's strange as it doesn't feel like a protective sticker. Haha. Thanks! Now my only gripe is the easy link/micro adjustment not engaging at all.
I edited my comment now. I got the blue sticker off after a lot of scratching. It was hard to get off.

@@teodorchilov1363 the other is a quartz correct??

Dance Artist Hey antwoordje: 17,5 cm. oftewel 6,88 inches en de Hulk versie heb ik nu ook!👍
Rucksack Rules hi how is the watch going?is it still accurate and not too many scratches or fading etc?
Is this watch resistant against rain and splashes?
What about moisture inside the glass?
I would avoid coughing on it, that may destroy the seals... let alone exposing it to rain!
Thanks for shading those detailed thoughts Lawrence! It’s great to hear about your experience, both on the positive and negative sides. Cheers!

Pagani watches are WAY short of the Rado's price range.
Got the green captain cook, it's a great watch but the lume is nothing special either. But it looks fantastic on the wrist and so light too .
Thinking of buying this as a beater watch I m a landscape gardener honestly will this last 6 months before falling apart or is it reasonable well made. Cheers.
The overall reliability depends on the movement and if it’s a real Seiko that shouldn’t be a problem. The case itself is solid enough I think.
Can you swap bracelet for a strap, would a barton look good or acher, 21mm lugs

Thanks for the thoughts and those comparisons marks. One of the big problems Pagani have is their QC. Mine is still quite possibly the worst lume I have seen... if yours is better, then that's a QC problem. The lug width on my watch is 21mm as measured by calipers... this is objective fact that is not up for discussion or debate. If yours is in fact 22mm then that is a variation in their product line which is frustrating to consumers.
@@PerthWAtch You are correct..its 21mm. Now that is a big negative.
Question: How can you take the pushpin out to adjust the clasp? Is it a 21mm pushpin? I bought the watch and loving it, but I just cannot take out the pushpin to adjust the clasp with my spring-bar tool. Please advice.
That’s because you don’t use a spring-bar tool to remove a pushpin, you need to use a pushpin tool ;)
How do you account for the price differences between the Rolex and that watch..?
Apart from the quality of certain materials where does the £8000 tag come from?
The simple answer is that I don’t really know :)
But here’s an estimate based on what’s I’ve read/heard: At most the actual manufacturing cost (materials, labour, infrastructure costs) likely factor no more than 20% of the cost of a Rolex. R&D factors some additional proportion. The largest chunk is most likely marketing - getting Federer and other celebrities to wear it everywhere and pasting your name all over F1 telecasts would be immensely expensive.
@@PerthWAtch Not to mention Wimbledon.. ;) It's interesting. Thanks very much for your answer.

They go for around $75 on AliExpress.
yep. I also bought the daytona homage one and it is absolutely great. super reliable quartz with very nice fit and finish.
Thanks for that guys - cool, alright I'll try to get around to that sometime... just a matter of asking for it when I have the time :)
Hi! I'm planning in getting this watch too, how has it been so far? Have you gotten the chance to test its water resistance? Thanks for the reply!
Great review brother!
Thanks man! :)
I must have been lucky. I was out of my state of residence, walked into an AD, copped a hulk and walked out. Makes sense why I sold it for a fat profit recently. I only bought it because I liked subs and saw a green sub online and got it to celebrate a milestone. Never knew it was so exclusive.
That is amazing - can I ask where you were?

That’s awesome man, great catch!
since i just bought Invicta 9094. Would you recommend me getting this one too? It‘s the same NH35A, and it looks too much the same as Invicta, just green colour. it‘s listed on Aliexpress for CAD$98...plus WR is 100m..not that I will ever be in that deep of water...anyhow 1. would you say it‘s ok to buy from Aliexpress? 2. Would you recommend me get it? Thanks
@@PerthWAtch thank you for your advice. I definitely need to take my time to savour my new Invicta before getting another homage watch.
sapphire crystal and solid end link bracelet with a Seiko moment for that price! that's hard to beat!
Cheers! :)
Great review! This is so much watch for the money.
It is isn’t it? Really quite astounding!

@@PerthWAtch My bad, my comment as a bit misleading LOL ! It's a Pagani !
Hi. Which is better: Loreo or Pagani? Thanks.
So happens I’ve scheduled a head-to-head comparison coming out soon - keep your eyes peeled!
Congratulations on your first auto! :)
Yeah mine also had a couple of bracelet joints which were stiff, I forgot to mention that actually.
@@PerthWAtch I've been enjoying your channel for it's reviews in watches I maybe can afford!
Same! One link very stiff. Got better after 1 day though!
Be extra careful when removing the stem (from the keyless work)
Ah very good! That's a step up from the Parnis I have seen then!
What's wrong with the bezel between the 5 and 15 mark? It looks scraped, or is that residue from some sticker?
I think it’s just residue from my fingerprints and grime... sorry :)
@@PerthWAtch hahaha no worries man, i'm just glad the watch didn't come like that I think I might buy one over the invicta pro divers mainly because these have the clasp i like. AND the bezel numbers are engraved and not just painted on like the invicta

42mm as clearly stated in the video ;)
Question: when after a couple of months or years (depending on how much luck) the watch stops, breaks or disintegrates, do you pay to have it repaired or just buy another one ?
It’s a Seiko movement - why would you expect it to just stop? And why would you expect 316L steel to disintegrate? That’s what Omega, Breitling, Tudor, Panerai, etc etc use.
Is the back glass mineral or sapphire, anybody knows? Haven't been able to find the info.
Almost certainly just mineral glass

Cheers!

Probably a bit too large I’m afraid...

Cool... any other differences between the two besides the movement?
I just purchased this through Alie Express. Loved the review and now subscribed. I personally can't purchase a $10,000 watch so this $75 does exactly what my car does. A Mercedes or my Ford both get me exactly where I want to go

@@PerthWAtch thanks for all the great information. I don't know why I haven't found your channel until now. I didn't realize I was a watch collector until Feb. out on work injury and realized I had a dozen watches needing repairs. I bought a tool kit and fixed all but one. Some were from my late wife, a Tag Huer from my in-laws and some my daughter bought me. I then got caught up in my OCD and bought a bunch onsale and seen inexpensive but really cool watches. It started with a Diesel Rasp, then 2 more, a Mr.Daddy 2.0 for less than $100 on Amazon (normally $375) and a Mega Chief for $80 on Amazon( Belks has them for $275). I then bought 2 Orient Bambino, a Gen 4 blue dial, then a Gen 3 grey dial. I then found Vostok. Those are cool and inexpensive if bought from Meramon. I bought 3, and one is a cool 24 hour with 200 meters of water resistant. I then bought two Timex , a Weekender and a Mod44. Then I found Chinese Alie Express watching one more watch. I am still waiting for those to show up, but I bought 5 from there. A Guinqin Moon phase, a Starking , a Cadison AP Royal oak homage blue waffle dial and then I bought the Hulk homage where I found your channel. I also bought a Rige because it was cheap enough. I am done for now buying anything and enjoy these watches with my new wardrobe I started getting early this year. It's the reason I won't buy a watch like a Breitling, because just one Navitimer would be 5 times as much money as I have into my whole collection. Its been fun getting into this little hobby and I subscribed to a couple of watch repair channels. I live on the coast of South Carolina USA and we have some great beach weather, which also made me buy my last watch, which is a Casio G-Shock Ga100c and a Edifice efv-530d. Love my G-Shock going to the beach.

That is 100% true!
They do have a 40mm version now, although mostly available in slightly different styles it seems
Why did not they made it in 40mm? The opening mechanism is brilliant, the ceramic bezel is amazing with sapphire crystal it is now truly a bank for buck. I wish Pagani finds a swiss movement keeping the price under $500 it could be a real bluster.
A Swiss movement Pagani (or Parnis for that matter)... now that’d be something to take a closer look at!

Can anyone tell me what size watch screw driver I’ll need to adjust the bracelet?
Just get a set and try out different sizes to find one that fits well.
Have one and love it!
Glad to hear it Clive! :)
Tried a 20mm strap an it was too small. 22mm strap was too large. Is this really a 20 mm watch or is it a 21? Has anyone tired straps on this?
I said pretty clearly and unequivocally that it is 21mm
I find this outstanding. If you are a true watch lover why would you hate a homage? Maybe it is because you're trying to feel you are better than somthing or someone.
Thanks - the specs are truly outstanding for the price here. Some people dislike homage perhaps because they honestly don’t like the idea of copying. Others might have other motivations, as you alluded to...
What's not to like for the money ?Their Black Bay is even nicer too ps if it doesn't say 316 L it prob isn't but still fine I'm sure .
Yeah that's right, they don't say it's 316L.... 304 steel perhaps then.
I keep wondering who will win the final. The Invicta or the Pagani design?
It's a mystery to keep us all on the edge of our seats :)
@@PerthWAtch Since SW200 is a clone of the ETA 2824-1, the hand winding issue was to be expected, according to this forum: forums.watchuseek.com/f2/eta-2824-winding-issue-2322506.html
I read one of the posts on there and it's saying that when you hand wind, one of the wheels locks up and stays still while the other winds your watch without the rotor spinning. The changes in direction can affect this wheel over a period of years. In my case it only took months for it to happen.

Yeah would love to review the San Martin for sure.
However I would say the best Sub homages of all would be the Tudor Submariner, followed by Ginault.
@@PerthWAtch fair comment, but at a cost
Bought their Daytona homage, not sure if the casing is different to this one, or because of the mecha-quartz, but it feels pretty light.
