It’s Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus and the disciples, and the institution of the Eucharist - the Holy Communion.🥖🍷 So here’s an Offertory (or Communion) by the lovely Cécile Chaminade.✨The offertory is the part the liturgy when the bread and wine are placed on the altar, at which point French organists might play an 'offertoire' on the organ. In Lutheran churches we typically sing a hymn instead. Chaminade apparently thought it would fit the communion itself too, and with all these fluffy warm flutes I’m inclined to agree.🎶The piece is taken from her collection 'La Nef Sacrée' (The Sacred Nave) which contains several different offertories among other things. Don’t miss the following videos this Easter, there’s a lot of great music coming up, and as always - don’t forget to click the thumbs-up and subscribe!🐣

Hello. I've already heard you playing excerpts from this collection. I will probably say the same thing again: I have to get this book! It is interesting and practical for the liturgy.

They are such wonderful pieces! There's both charm and drama! My plan is to do the entire book eventually. I'm not sure where to find an organ with a nice Musette 8' for the pastorales though...!
