My brother had it for christmas when I was like ten and we were always fighting to play it. We were at my grandmother's for the vacations and had brought the NES with us. All we did was play video games, she hated that... oh the memories... I'm 36 now, can't believe it's been like 25 years!!! ouch!
Sunsoft really had the NES nailed down to the bone. And it definitely shows here. Naoki Kodaka is such a genius when it came to him working that 2A03 chip. You can do alot with music today, but when someone like Kodaka, or even Tim Follin, was assigned for a game's music duty, you'd get some chiptunes that would blow your mind, as most composers who worked with the NES didn't know its true capabilities. You can do alot with 5 channels of sound granted you knew how to work around the heavy limitations of the 2A03 Naoki Kodaka and Tim Follin, to me are the NES music legends that will never be surpassed. Those graphics, given this is on NES, looks almost 16 bit quality. That says alot of what the NES rarely achieved with alot of its games.
Omg when I heard the start screen music I thought I was 10 years old again...this batman, little nemo, megaman and 100s more, the music and gameplay on the nes was the start of the golden age of gaming up to the Supernes. Childhood memories sunsoft was a beast for movie to game translations
I like this channel, I'm having so much nostalgia, thinking back to some of these games that I forgot I used to love. I was obsessed with this game for a bit.
I rented that game many years ago from a local video store & never managed to get past the second level. Thanks for the video that showed just how sadistic Sunsoft games can be.
TimelordR Haha yeah,Sunsoft made some of the most difficult games on the nes like Journey To Silius.Batman is probably even more challenging than Gremlins but both games have a great soundtrack.Blaster Master is probably my ultimate Sunsoft challenge.I never played Hebereke and Gimmick! but i will do a playthrough of both games eventually.I wish Sunsoft would have keep on doing quality product on the snes
@@HeroesofXanaduSloth Sunsoft started outsourcing their name during the 16 bit era, not doing games themselves, but putting games out for smaller developers, something LJN did. Unfortunately that sullied the good name of Sunsoft, though Sunsoft still had some great Hebereke games on the SFC. Genesis had the first Batman game, and a competent Superman game that people love to diss.
+Fenderjaguar7 Video games cost so much back in the days and this game is one the great one on the system but at least, you can buy this one really cheap these days. This game used to be really expensive in the early 90s.
Mike F it was exspensive because back then all they had was a couple of games and this was one of them so...you know it's hard to explain but I think you've got the proof dea.
I adore this game! Played when I was eleven and almost beat it. Came back at 35 and beat it! Then just did a playthough on channel but took me over a hour. Bravo on this amazing run!!
I will always love this game. Took me forever to figure out how to beat it. Here was my algorithm. First - always start from the beginning and don't use passwords. Second - get the power pack as soon as possible. Third - buy extra lives when they're at the store, otherwise buy a balloon (unless you're really low on health, then buy medicine). Worked for me. The smoking gremlin that appears at 6:10 is the first really tough opponent. Darn near impossible without the power pack because his fire will just knock you right into that pit, and if you don't have a balloon you're in bad shape. I have no idea how many times that guy killed me over the years.
The music is surprisingly solid. It sounds like it could be from Jerry Goldsmith's work on the films - but it's a whole new soundtrack in and of itself.
Such an awesome game, nice 8 bit graphics, great music, great gameplay, the later levels are kinda tricky though (and i do hate the fact that u can only buy one item per time at the shops)
They should have allow the gamers to buy more then one item. I totally agree with you. Level four and five are very tricky but as strange as its seem, i sometime have more problem with level 2-2 than i have with level 4 or 5 .
4:21 anybody ever found what was that shadow figure at the right side of the screen that run away when you got near it??? I've never been able to hit it.
Has anyone else noticed a little black man (a shadow) in level 2.1? He appears after u visit the shop, and u walk to the right. He runs quickly to the right when u see him, and then he is offscreen. I don't think u can catch him, coz he is very fast. I've seen him twice so far. I wonder why he is in the game, and if u can do anything with him / get from him.
Huh, I just realized that unlike almost all other classic games from the era, this one I've hardly played since the nes days, even though it's a good game!
Would be fun to play on actual drums.....you can really hear that "gssssh" sound, and those fill-ins are amazing. One more area in the game and it'd be nearly perfect. The 2nd part of the tune on 4-1, mesmerizing......
Gian Scolaro For the snes, Sunsoft published games like Aero the Acro-Bat, Albert Odyssey, Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage, Death and Return of Superman, Lemmings, and Pirates of Dark Water just to name a few.
+strittar The spider can take more damage because he has more hit points. That spider also take much more space in the screen leaving the players with less room to move and dodge it while the others bosses sprites are quite smaller.
+the unknown youtuber Level 1: No boss level 2: First boss of the game and also the easiest one since he just jump around and has short-range attack level 3: The electric gremlin has a powerful range attack but land on number three spot of the list since he has low hit points level 5: Spider mohawk: Has the highest amount of hp of the bunch and suppose the be the hardest but since he has no range attack and just charge at you, he lose the throne to normal machine gun mohawk. The player can also mass fire at him since is sprite is so damn big. level 4: Machine gun mohawk is the hardest boss of the game because of the spike room and the powerful long-range machine gun he fire with. However, just like the electric gremlin, he has pretty low hp.
cutscenes are really good for a nes game. Why did you have to go Sunsoft? If that idiot hadn't invest on a golf course then they still might be around or little longer to make games.
play duck hunt, i use to try and try and try to shoot that dog everytime, well one day the game glitched, and i got the dog right smack dab in the snout LOL yoooop yoooop yoooop yoooop yoooop constently until either u pushed the reboot button or turned the game console off then back on again. step dad on the other hand wasn';t laughing but i was LOL, he honestly thought i was abusing little basmbie our chihuahua dashound mix LOL. poor dog but it sounded funny coming off a mario game though./
Nintendo were so lazy. Hey, we’ve already coded spiders and mice for another game, let’s use them, instead of creating actual gremlins😂 it’s the same with every movie franchise on NES/SNES - whether it’s back to the future or home alone - the game play is never anything to do with the movie plot
My brother had it for christmas when I was like ten and we were always fighting to play it. We were at my grandmother's for the vacations and had brought the NES with us. All we did was play video games, she hated that... oh the memories... I'm 36 now, can't believe it's been like 25 years!!! ouch!
Louis Nio I’m 13 but I grew up playing a lot of these games and I love 70s and 80s movies the new ones are just trash
the music!!! i'm crying right now, this was the first video game i ever played
I were like 2 - 3 years old when I played it for the first time.
Sunsoft sure knows how to make cool musics for NES. Wish they were still around today.
+Chad King I think most of them are still alive, so, um, they're around, kind of.
If you have Blaster Master Zero for the Switch, then you'll hear these same exact sounds.
Sunsoft really had the NES nailed down to the bone. And it definitely shows here. Naoki Kodaka is such a genius when it came to him working that 2A03 chip. That music is awesome.... Played this game a lot n my NES👌🏻
+M Oviegeek I agree, this game deserve the love. Awesome soundtrack as well.
so did i loved it bit short but very good for the time
Omg when I heard the start screen music I thought I was 10 years old again...this batman, little nemo, megaman and 100s more, the music and gameplay on the nes was the start of the golden age of gaming up to the Supernes. Childhood memories sunsoft was a beast for movie to game translations
The musical score is so awesome. One of the best classic Nintendo game scores ever. Brings back my childhood.

Beating this as a kid after having to rent it at least 5 times was so gratifying :)
Loved this game until a kid stole it and swore he never. Bad times, think it cost like £40 even then
+Fenderjaguar7 That sucks. I played it again on emulator recently. Very nostalgic.
+Fenderjaguar7 Video games cost so much back in the days and this game is one the great one on the system but at least, you can buy this one really cheap these days. This game used to be really expensive in the early 90s.
I wonder why it was expensive

The graphics on this game are stellar. I thought the mechanics were decent, but the graphics were just amazing.
I love the audio setting on this emulator. It gives the sound fox and music there own channels without interrupting each other
This games graphics are amazing. The cutscenes look great.
good graphics and sound for NES those bosses look great

It's nice to finally see someone finish this game :)
Forgot how hard this game was
+blindjustice316 This game is no walk in the park, well-known SUNSOFT trademark.
I never beat Fester's Quest until it was in rom form where I could save and reload.
hard but looks kinda fun and i like the good job sunsoft did on the game the sprites look like billy and gizmo from the film
and i love the cut scenes
The music is surprisingly solid. It sounds like it could be from Jerry Goldsmith's work on the films - but it's a whole new soundtrack in and of itself.

A great underrated game
I agree with you, the game control, mechanics, graphics and kickass soundtrack...
Awesome video, love this game. So many Friday night rentals but I could never beat the machine gun gremlin.
Wow. I was 8 or 9 when I played this. I had forgotten it. The memories...
Awesome game, very hard with a great music!!
the soundtrack is straight fire
One of the four wonderful Sunsoft games for the NES..... Blaster Master, Batman, Fester's Quest. Always known for their great soundtracks.
Robert Anderson Don’t forget Journey to Silius!
I've missed this game gremlins was my life when I was a kid
The gameplay plays a LOT like a 3D Platformer. Even though it is not 3D but is played from a top down perspective.
Omg I used to play the shit out of this game! I need to go back and watch those Gremlins movies now!
20:52 Final battle
4:21 anybody ever found what was that shadow figure at the right side of the screen that run away when you got near it??? I've never been able to hit it.
Ah yes CB or crystal balls the best currency for an elderly Chinese man steeped in such mysticism.
this game was hella hard.. and mainly because of the freakin platform jumping and conveyor belts and the COMBINATION of the two LOLZ
Level 4.2 used to give me so much trouble. I still remember the password for it to this day.
Yes, I noticed this... I wasn't able to catch him, and he doesn't seem to appear anywhere else in the game
I say its impossible to catch him.
I think its some kind of easter egg,
but i don't know what it is suppose to mean / or be
Its just weird
there was more flashing at the end than that on the original game, enough to give you a bloody epileptic fit lol
I played this as a child and couldn't get past 4-2. I had no idea how close I was to the end of the game.
Huh, I just realized that unlike almost all other classic games from the era, this one I've hardly played since the nes days, even though it's a good game!
Brought here from Muse. Not sure why though.
The amazing soundtrack probably. :)
this game looks amazing and is very impressive
2:53 that's where i used to die over and over and over.... :D
If you get the P cannister after you've already upgraded your weapon to fire 3 instead of 1, it doesn't appear to make any difference.
Would be fun to play on actual drums.....you can really hear that "gssssh" sound, and those fill-ins are amazing. One more area in the game and it'd be nearly perfect. The 2nd part of the tune on 4-1, mesmerizing......
Awesome
4:21 has anybody ever find out what that shadow figure was? (on the right side)
Quite an odd building gizmo was in...
The game does suffer from too much (precise) platform-jumping though
The later levels are mostly precise-jumping-levels
muse make me here
NOSTALGIA
21:41
gremlins 2 like alien 3
Subbed my friend.
One damn hard game.
i want to know one thing.. who the hell designed that office? :P
But Forster's still trapped up top the building with the female Gremlin! Gremlins 3 anyone??
The power of Tomatoes!
All bosses

Great video. I had that game, and never i could completed. I wondering if SUNSOFT made similar games in the SNES and N64
Gian Scolaro For the snes, Sunsoft published games like Aero the Acro-Bat,
Albert Odyssey, Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage, Death and Return of Superman, Lemmings, and Pirates of Dark Water just to name a few.
Gian Scolaro Chameleon Twist is one of the few games that was published by Sunsoft on the N64.Chameleon Twist is a great Multi-Player game.
holy crap my gremlins 2 had great graphic compare to playing halloween on atari 2600
Why does gizmo keep running off from Billy?
the true dark souls
La musique qu'on entend tout le temps dans les videos de trash!! =D
La musique de ce jeu est tres bonne comme la plupart des jeux fait par sunsoft. Une petite partit de mon enfance et des 80s/90s font partit de ce jeu.
dude, the bosses look so damn easy.
+strittar The last boss is the hardest one out of the bunch.
Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth what do you mean he is the hardest. how is he harder that the others
+strittar The spider can take more damage because he has more hit points. That spider also take much more space in the screen leaving the players with less room to move and dodge it while the others bosses sprites are quite smaller.
Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth good point. quick question, if you could, can you make a list of the bosses from hardest to easiest.
+the unknown youtuber
Level 1: No boss
level 2: First boss of the game and also the easiest one since he just jump around and has short-range attack
level 3: The electric gremlin has a powerful range attack but land on number three spot of the list since he has low hit points

Hello from Critical Role C3E19 :)
This game is fun. but I rage quit a lot.
Is it available in android version?
play duck hunt, i use to try and try and try to shoot that dog everytime, well one day the game glitched, and i got the dog right smack dab in the snout LOL yoooop yoooop yoooop yoooop yoooop constently until either u pushed the reboot button or turned the game console off then back on again. step dad on the other hand wasn';t laughing but i was LOL, he honestly thought i was abusing little basmbie our chihuahua dashound mix LOL. poor dog but it sounded funny coming off a mario game though./
This game is so seizure inducing!
Holy shit and Laughing Joking Numnuts didn't make it either?
Kinda reminds me of Mario. Lol Can I get it on my phone?
Yes dear, you can play all the nes games on your phone free.
That’s where game theorys music comes from
