- Just how Bulletproof/Stab proof is a police vest really? Will it protect you from a really hard stab? - Yes it will. Will it protect you from a 9mm bullet? - Yes it will. Will it protect you from a ROCKET STAB? David, Henrik, and Sylvia do some science to find out.

I cannot imagine anyone trusting anyone else to slash or stab accurately to the vest. Esp repeated swings - the chance an idiot swings slightly high, to the neck (which did not have any armor/cover) is just too great.
And the guy shooting a hand gun... at that distance? That's not point blank range. That looks like 7 yards or so. When I visit the range and do crazy stuff, there are times I get freak shots that's way off target even at 7 yards. Maybe the hand/fingers pulled too hard, etc. Imagine that shot missing the vest and hits the guy's family jewel. Or a little higher and hits the guy's neck, severing the spine at the base of the skull.
David's crew is way smarter and way safer here.

UK Firearm units have panels with metal plates in front of the Kevlar, that is a regular non firearm vest.

125-ish mph/200-odd kph withing 15meters is some pretty awesome acceleration figures to try & top, and not without getting much more expensive... :'/

So a stab/bullet proof vest is not sufficient protection from a 125mph knife.... who would have guessed? Fortunately police in the UK rarely come across such things
This thing is brutally lethal. even the sled with motor was partially embedded into that vest, would be good to know the amount of Joules in that thing.
You guys have already meassured the speed, now weigh the sled plus knife and the calculation can be made.
They got the speed dialed in to around 250 kph / 156 mph, or 70 m/s or 233 fps.
The weight is a pure guess, but should be between 1kg or 2.2lbs up to 2kg/4.4lbs at most.
The impact energy resultant is around 2500J up to 5000J, that is in the region of a .308 rifle bullet.
Would be nice to see a carbide tipped steel scriber mounted in a similar fashion to the rocket sled against an AR500 plate.

David, Love the work. By any chance could you estimate the amount of energy this is hitting with in the videos, either Newtons or Foot-Pounds. Then maybe give an idea of an equivalent that it takes to equal that amount of energy?

Thank you again David. For Comparison I believe a 357 Magnum Handgun is around 450 Nm (Joules) and an AK-47 Round (7.62x39) Rifle is around 3900 Nm (Joules). That is an astonishing amount of energy.

No surprise. A 9mm has about 500J of kinetic energy, but the to let knife probably weighing a kg and traveling 100m/s has 5000J of kinetic energy.
