Ugh, no it's not the writer's strike. It's a combination of things. Biggest one (as mentioned by my guests who are experienced pros in industry) is that studios don't want to hire rookies and only want experienced artists. Way too many hacks out there claiming to be VFX artists. It sucks but you just have to work 10 times as hard, get in the door, and get years of experience. I've done 35 streaming shows (Netlfix/HBOMax, Peacock, Apple, Disney) and I'm barely scratching the surface on my learning of what it means to proficient in the craft.
