Stewart was so fun too watch. When he came into the big class RC worked his butt off to have the speed that JS had. If JS was more patient sometimes he would have had the most wins period. It was always fun watching these to race and if you could bring them back to today at their speed then I don’t really think anyone would touch them still.
We're all sayin it but these were the best most exciting days of moto for me. Too bad the younger generations will never know unless they watch all these races from years ago. I'll never forget these guys
James Stewart went over that tough block like it was a little sponge. Amazing Amazing rider . Thanks for the memories. I raced in Orlando(use to be bithlo)MX when i was 15&16 on Saturday nights in 1997 and 1998 and heard about James Stewart racing when he was young( had no idea he would be this good) and Dade City was his home track. I never seen him in person till this 2007 race and he was batteling Rickey Carmichael. WOW is all I can say . America is such a cool country !!!!!!!........
@2:48 is one of my favorite SX passes of all time. It just is........there are probably better ones but DAMN, J Stew was hang that rear tire a bit off the track over the bales as he scrubbed that!!! Love it!!
Just came back to see what the coverage looked like back when things were really moving forward in super cross. The TV coverage, camera angles, everything was so good compared to today. Not sure what’s happened there.
When my daughters were toddlers, I bought them pyjamas. One was of Ricky Carmichael( the eldest) and the other was of James Stewart ( the youngest), both in factory colors with number. Fortunately, I didn't have a third kid; I don't think I could have put them in a Reed kit. That dude was just born at the wrong time having to race RC and JS. Those were the days!
or David Bailey, Johnny O'Mara & Rick Johnson (Who were all Team Honda teammates & RJ was the first of only 2 racers in history of the sport to win both the 250cc & 500cc titles in the same season...the other was Jean Michel Bayle)
Tammy Holt Barcia whips the bike, he doesnt scrub because his height is almost identical to his regular jumps. It looks nice, thats all. He gets a lot of movement and flare but it isn't very practical. James does it to "scrub" speed off and lower his trajectory to land quicker.
Today’s riders need to see the corner speed and the speed in the whoops……… CR is still a top 15 rider in today’s game…… extremely fast in his own right ……… but smoked on this night ……… I’d take RC, JS, CR, and RV at their best vs today’s field.
Corners look a lot faster in 144p, if you think current riders with better view, better suspension, better trainers, and better understanding of human physiology aren’t faster, you’re the braindead ape that got left behind
I bet in 2020 we would watch "battle for 7h", some instagram feed about "seven deuce deuce" or listen to Daniel talking non sense when Stewart was making a pass on Ricky
I was there and was drunk as pirate during a hurricane and remember the whole race and could barley talk the next day from yelling so much when RC and JS were batteling. What a night . And then went and watched RC race race cars at New Smyrna Speed Way the next night . That was the good old days:) I was drunk as pirate that night too ;)
Yeah...I'll never forget...my dad brought me to the Budds Creek pro national in 1995 where Doug Henry broke his back...and I remember everyone in the entire industry WROTE HIM OFF & I never expected to see him again...then, my dad & a few other guys I raced with were at the Hangtown Classic in 1997 & we were near the Yamaha Semi, and all of a sudden I heard what sounded like a Harley Davidson with no muffler on it start up...and out of the back of the semi truck rolls a Race Bike that looked like a '97 Yamaha YZ250 (but had the Major Color White/Secondary Color Red color scheme of Yamaha YZ from 1985-1991...) & out walks a racer, he turned around and I see a big white #20 and the name "HENRY" in bold white letters over it on the back of his blue Fox Chest protector & I said to my dad "That's the guy that flew like 100 feet at Budds Creek 2 years ago and broke his back!!" and my dad just gave me this look like "What the hell is wrong with you, are you that dumb?!?" & said "Motocross Racers don't return after breaking their backs, especially not to a pro level in under 2 years..." and I pointed and my dad saw "Henry" and my dad asked, um don't remember if it was Brian Berry (John Dowd's Mechanic), Mike Gosselar (Ezra Lusk's mechanic) or Alley Semar (Kevin Windham's mechanic) or the Yamaha Factory Team Manager but my dad said "Is that the guy that broke his back at Budds Creek in '95?!? and he said "Um...Yah...that's the guy!!" and my dad said "So Yamaha made a total gamble on him & offered him a contract having no idea weather it was going to be realistic for him to return to pro racing on the level of these other kids whom haven't broken their backs like oh say Kevin Windham not he was going to be competitive or not?!? and the mechanic said "see that one-off monster he's riding...that's an even bigger gamble than offering a guy who might not be able to feel his legs by lap 5...we still have no idea whether or not that thing's going to be even REMOTELY realistic in ANY way...so yah...Yamaha was willing to take a few gambles..."
@@public_risk Yep. Nothing like those Stewart, Reed, RC battles... I'm still an avid fan of the sport and I do think we have some phenomenal talent these days, but nothing compares to what we saw with those 3.
This happens to EVERY superstar in Supercross.... I was watching when Ricky did it to Jeremy McGrath...except Jeremy McGrath had no plans to retire, this is Carmichael's final race....
Bruh Ricky Reed and Stewart have had some ferocious passes during there years, the block passes these guys do now is childs play compared to what they did back then
Chad siempre fue un piloto con "mala leche" no se aguantaba ver ganador al grande Bubba Stewart! James siempre será su papá! Chad sos una pala persona así como piloto!
Crazy theogony replicated this track last night, probably different dirt which changes thing, but when the track is fresh either gives you an idea of these 3 in their prime vs KR94, CW2 and tomac (another bad race for him last nigh)
the orange bowl is an open ended stadium like sam boyd, but they never use the parking lot like they do in vegas. plus, the place is narrow as all hell, and FL has no good dirt. translation - they dont race there anymore. they used to do jacksonville, tampa, daytona, orlando all in one year and now its just daytona.
Dont like how they would pan off james on the screen until he forced himself in the screen and kicked everyones a**!. Stewart the fastest man on the planet! Miss ya man!
James....what happened to this rider im seeing in this video????u should be dominating right now!!the 2 ryan's are fast, but there not carmichael fast.u smoked the G.O.A.T!
This was the peak of our sport. It'll be a long time before we see 3 legends battling again
100% correct!!!
And then there was this season with ferrandis roczen tomac barcia with others going at it every single round in the outdoors 😂🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽😍😍😍😍😍😍
Yup just a couple more months!

Jeremy McGrath
This was prime james Stewart, my favorite rider, loved the battles between these three
Back when he used PeD

You mean these two. Reed never really had anything for Stewart or Carmichael
Remember this like it was yesterday. Was my first sx race .. such an awesome bday gift to watch these guys battle it out

Still love watching supercross today.... but man these were the good ol days...

i wish i had a time machine so i can take a pair of GoProHD2 for james and carmichael... for all those great battles!
try hero 9s
Do you want paradoxes...?
Cause that's how you get paradoxes
No imagine you take modern Ricky Carmichael and Ralph sheheen back in time to this race to announce it now that would be weird
Fuck that take some 4k cameras

Talent wise... no better 3 riders have ever competed at the same time while also riding in their prime.
how about Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Emig & Doug Henry?!?
or David Bailey, Johnny O'Mara & Rick Johnson (Who were all Team Honda teammates & RJ was the first of only 2 racers in history of the sport to win both the 250cc & 500cc titles in the same season...the other was Jean Michel Bayle)

How about Roger DeCoster, Pierre Karsmakers, & Heikki Mikkola?
You are correct. Those older era riders of course talented but nothing like these guys.
Rick Johnson, David Bailey, & Jeff Ward.
Marty Smith, Jimmy Weinert, & Pierre Karsmakers.
@ 2:50 was the sickest scrub ive ever seen
if u want to see the sickest scrubber of late check out Justin Barcia Insane he almost can get his rear end in front of his forks!!!!
can you share me some link of bam bam's scrub. thx

My first supercross when I was a kid, one year after this. I was heartbroken to find out Carmichael was retired. Stewart still put on a show though :)

I 3rd that
Well obviously. Back then wins mattered a lot more. Now riders are happy not getting a win all year they’re only concerned with points. It’s lame.

Minus Chad Reed lol
Chad wanted to race up front with them so bad he would practically cry during the podium interview while making excuses
Yet they both won 2 SX titles.
Wow I dunno if the bikes are better but they look faster today

I was at that race and those two were on a different level. They walked away from the field.
