I can confirm no yachts were exchanged for the making of this video. There may have been a promise of a belly rub though. Thanks DivKid awesome video. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged myself and the Tin Shed since I started just over a year ago.
Chris has been doing a great job for us here in the ass end of the world in the land that the world forgot. We were very, very light on for choice. And he is bringing it in spades. Good prices and best customer service ever. Long live the Tin Shed.
Picked up and absolutely love my XAOC Belgrad, Erica Polivoks VCF, Erica Black Output from Chris, and bought and sold a Pico Voice, Seq and AJH Waveswarm as well. Always in the post promptly and with great advice and service. Highly recommend!
I think we should expect people spending hours and hours making demos are to be compensated for their work. But this was a nice instance of the sponsor not dictating the content in anyway (I've never worked with anyone that has dictated what I do) other than using their top 5 selling modules as a factual base for the top 5.
an updated version of this would be nice. almost suggested it once a year but it's much more interesting if it happens naturally, once a few modules worth noting stack up
This stuff used to give me the biggest migraines known to man. I just didn't know where to start to get the best setup without busting my wallet in half. People like u have helped me by pointing me in the right direction. I still aint quite there but I think I've ended up with the best modules I could get for the prices I've found them for. I plan to have everything I need for a while soon
Ha I also bought 3/5 of those modules in 2018 (all the non-Erica ones). Particularly love the Batumi. One of those rare modules that makes me feel fully satisfied with what it provides. My hunger for more oscillators, filters and envelopes may never be sated, but I am confident that I've got my LFO game fully locked down as long as Batumi's in my case. And what wild modulations it can introduce into a patch!
@@DivKid Yessss exactly! Self-modulating Batumi plus polymetric rhythm sequencing charts the course to continously varying complexity. The kind of patches that make me chuckle with delight even after listening to the same patch for 30 minutes straight.
Oh my god, I got my first ever modules (coincidentally, because shipping was faster) from Tin Shed Modular, the other week/month. If Chris sees this, thanks for the Jove & Batumi! :)
What mini powered bus do you use here? For the life of me I can't google it, even if I use such detailed information like the type of a converter (Mean Well DKM10E-12) in the query. 🤕
Hi, great video of some great modules. Could you share some notes on the patch at 5:51, please? Where are the Outputs of the modules are going, did you use an external mixer or is the pico-dsp the main Output of the patch?
I really don't like these "you can only have" questions. Not because of the intent of the question but because it's missing information. Only have one filter to do what? Am I filtering a drum mix? A traditional analogue bass voice? A Buchla / Serge west coast thing? For processing external signals? They all have strengths and characters that we subjective decide we like but that varies depending on the input and use cases.
Happy new Year... How much each one of them cost?... And how much would cost to if build those 5 in a rack? How much if I buy them already racked by someone else.?
They're not all DIY so you can't build all of them. In fact there's only the Jove and Plaits here that are open source so you can find DIY PCB/panels and other people offering built or even altered versions of them. They come pre assembled. This case and power is DIY but should be available pre built soon. Head to a music retailers site of choice and start pricing it up.
Well I have the 2 Erica's & awaiting a Batumi from Shawn Cleary. My next top filter choices were either Sisters or funnily enough Jove. Not sure about plaits as my hearts set on a micro braids & even that's not near my next choice of vco. It partly depends what you've already got of course but my next personal vco choices would be furtherrrr generator who's cost continues to defeat me mind, & another Erica namely the graphic vco.
I was chatting to Endorphin.es about the Furthrrrr Generator on Friday funnily and will hopefully be checking that out soon. I've really enjoyed there other modules. Graphic VCO is good and their varishape analogue VCO is the closest thing vibe wise the Livewire AFG that I still have. But not as big as the AFG!
So, ‘sponcon’ generally skeeves me the hell out - but this is hilarious & delightfully self deprecating. In short, it was great. You could have easily cheapened both your and their brands, but you did the nigh on impossible in this situation and strengthened them. (Ex-adguy mode now disabled) Happy holidays Ben! I’m patching vicariously through you as work has been all encompassing - was thinking about building a little mini rig for work, what’s that USB powered bus board? Looks handy. Is it cleanish? Cheers
Hi Richard, glad to do something you enjoyed with this sort of sponsor. The USB power is clean (I use an old iPad charger to take the USB cable on the other). That's developed by Matt Gaines (he's replied to a few comments here) who has the files on GitHub so others can make them But he's looking to get some pre built for sale soon. I'll make a video about it when he does.
Hi Angelo, while I like the stream of thought commenting I think you've gone off down a different path to what's going on here. Years ago, a store called Tin Shed turned 1 years old (open for business for 1 year). To celebrate we made a video listing the top 5 selling Eurorack modules from that shop. No one is talking about value, non Eurorack gear, Nords, Kurz, keyboards, Arturia or anything else. So I don't get what you're meaning with this.
Nice one Ben! I actually didn't know that the System80 Jove is Open Source.. I'll have to go have a look at the Schematic. I definitely need another Filter in my Setup and the Jove sounds great, Cheers! Also, just out of interest, which PSU/Busboard have you got in that little case? Happy Birthday Tinshed.
@DivKidVideo Nice One! I hadn't noticed Matts Reply to my comment until now, so cheers for drawing my attention to it. :) As always, i look forward to seeing what you do with it Ben. Cheers!
this has been great and a quiet supply so far. I'm using an older iPad charger to plug the USB into it. It was originally designed by Tom Whitwell of Music Thing Modular and expanded for more power by Matt Gaines.
I have a novice question for ya: with standalone gear, I would use fx pedals in the mixer through “fx sends and returns”,.... Is there a way to do that in the modular world?
Hello, there's lots of ways to patch send and returns in the system around multiple points of a patch. There's also send and return modules from Doepfer, AI Synthesis, ALM Busy Circuits, AniModule and a few others too.
I’d buy you a yacht.... Anyway, cool video. You should do a video about the rackbrute and how you can make a full system just inside of that. Drums, sequencers, envelopes, output modules, etc....just a thought because I don’t want a huge system I just want one 3u rack with a lot of 2hp, pico, and other small utilities. You know?!? Care to take a guess at which you think sold best?

I'm glad you disclosed that it was a sponsored video, but it makes me even happier that it wasn't trying to sell a specific module.

some nice textures coming from that party horn, would be ace if it accepted cv though. 5/7
