That bass player is Flea, he's a legend and in 2009 he was ranked as the second best bass player of all time

RHCP has been in the game since 1983. Anthony Kiedis is the vocalist, Flea is the bassist (and considered one of the best bassists of all time), Chad Smith is the drummer and the guitarist in this video is Josh Klinghoffer (who was in the band from 2009 to 2019). The band is from California, so this is a very strong theme in their music.
They are still active and about to release an album in May next year, their first work since the return of the most important guitarist in the band's history, John Frusciante, also considered one of the best guitarists in the world.
I suggest you to react to Dani California next so you can see Frusciante in action and feel a little bit more of their energy :)

The most iconic performance of theirs imo is them "Live at Slane Castle" - different guitarist tho, my fav guitarist lol.. this guitarist was actually back stage doing atmospheric effects before he got lead guitarist when the other left aha lots of band history.
They are one of the best groups of all time. I was finally able to see them in concert a couple of years ago with my daughter. It was amazing. Their energy is crazy. I love their songs Under the bridge and Power of equality. So many more but many are possibly too explicit for RUclips. 😁
The video was directed by Olivia Wilde and you can tell by the way the women in the video are shot and the overall story. As a woman, I loved seen these 3 beautiful, but not over-sexualized, women being portrayed as just friends hanging out, being themselves, no judgment, no drama, just skating and freaking awesome music 💯🔥

I'm from southern California and about the same age as RHCP and they all about the southern California lifestyle, influences and vibes!
They are the quintessential California band.

I was thinking the song was about addiction. Like why people do drugs, to escape, to be free (or feel like they are) to do whatever they want. Thats how I viewed the bands shananigans lol...and the falling off the skate boards and stuff was the comedown? Or maybe the consequences or clarity...idk. Not really familar with the RHCP but def a cool video

You want a good RHCP video try some stuff with Frusciante on guitar. Klinghoffer is good but he is not Frusciante. The rest seems to bring out their best when Frusciante is in the band. Snow, Can't Stop, some of the early stuff like Under The Bridge, Suck my Kiss, All good stuff anyway.
Lyrics don't need to be over explained like that...
There are parts of Cali you for sure don’t want to go to. Lol. But you are right about the vibe.
