When it comes to Mind Flayer (in my Thassa deck), I flicker the stolen creature. It then stays permanently under my control whether or not if the opponent kills Mind Flayer later. Rinse and repeat.
Brawl content featuring a bunch of draft superstars! Glad to see content creators just enjoy the game
Your historic brawl videos are cool because it shows your deck building prowess when you’re not forced white blue bad stuff in a draft
I've had an Orvar Deck for like a year now, and I was just playing it recently. I LOVE this deck.
I have Orvar in Brawl on arena and paper EDH and love it too. Island tokens are what I wanted and the deck delivers.
@@Turkin4tor I really want to create a paper EDH Orvar deck. There's like 1 or two cards on Arena that let you target lands, but in EDH, there's so many!
Instant like for orvar. Love these brawl games you do.
16:58 You didn't draw a card from Baleful Mastery because you bounced its only target back to your hand, thus the spell fizzled. Bear in mind that you are not targetted by the opponent to draw a card, it just says "an opponent". So when a spell has no targets, the whole thing fizzles, even if it has extra non-targetted abilities. I think it's the one major rule they should change (so parts that have lost a target don't work but the rest still works), but eh, that's how it is right now anyway.
Could've kept the original Thassa with dive down: it gives hexproof.
Overwise, great video!
Love the historic brawl content!
Orvar is exactly why I liked historic brawl better at 60 cards vs 100. I feel like I have to stretch the deck more thin and it doesn’t work as well. At 60 cards during the historic brawl events it was so fun
I had the same impression at that time, when I was doing Esika Shrines and wrecking Codie players who were popping out removal and I had no creatures, just enchantments XD
I love historic brawl gameplay
This deck was sick, you got to go off hard a couple games!
I wish you were able to Copy Orvar.
Things get really nutty once you have multiple Orvar's on the field.
Any thoughts to running Kira in this build since you seem to favour bounce spells on your own creatures?
Kira would counter the first spell you cast on each of your creatures. It actively hurts the strategy of the deck.
@@aidennoir597 That's the point. You don't want the actual effect of the card; you just want to trigger Orvar. Orvar doesn't need the spell to resolve - only to be cast.
Displacer Kitten now achieves a similar effect of letting you dodge your own bounce spells, lol.
@Alex LeBlanc
In my experience at least, it's less that you "favour bounce spells on your own creatures", and more that you don't have any other choice in mono-blue. Why couldn't Orvar be the multicoloured one instead of Moritte? 😭
Top Ten Basic Lands Friend! Love your hard work!
Love the brawl content!
I appreciate all the Historic Brawl content! Especially with SNC being kinda meh...
Love your vids!
35:02 - "This is kind of an unimpactful trigger, comparatively, to like most of the ones we have in our deck, but y'know, it's...whatever." You woulda lost Jeopardy if you were meant to describe Thassa's Oracle...
Love more brawl content, thanks
Gameplay of Historic Brawl is awesome! Don't be afraid to optimize it for a competitive approach 🤟
love orvar for some of the jank and fun combos you can do, unfortunately it tends to lead to an awful experience for the person on the opposing end, and in turn the algorithm puts you against other high powered toxic decks. I love Teferis Time Twist in the deck, as it is one of the few spells on arena that can actually target your lands or any other kind of permanent (orvars ability is not limited to creatures). Also Dreamcaller Siren always overperforms for me and probably gets the opponent to scoop more than any other card in my list. I really like Choking Teathers as well
I don't know if I believe Brawl has a true algorithm for matchmaking.
@@NizzahonMagic at the very least i do believe there is something in there to do with the color deck you play. I know this is just anectdotal, but for instance i have never once played against a Tolsimir deck outside of mirror matches and other times i am playing selesnya. Ive had similiar experiences with a lot of the less popular commanders.
@@gwampa7066 I don't think I have ever had a Brawl mirror match. But I also choose obscure commanders haha
mind flayer workls fine with thasa you just flicker what you take sicne thasa much like conjoerers closet puts cards back into play under your control then the next turn you can flicker the mind flayer
Spark double is so good because it copies and is non legendary, so the you can copy orvar with it over and over
I don't want to be that guy, but the game audio is kinda loud. Loved the video otherwise!
Eww. Alchemy cards in this. Yuck
I react the same way but this is not his fault, just the folks who develop Arena and don't give us a "Paper Brawl" queue :/
love the brawl content!
