hey Steve I saw this video how tight do you tighten the tank bolts I don't want to over tighten and break it could you let me know thanks I enjoy watching your videos
Did they put anything on the inside so it doesn't scratch the OEM it's going over? Cause that would suck to scuff up the tank you are covering. Seeing how I have everything else on my 19 SG from advanblack, this could be pretty cool, all depending upon the tank scuffing. Stock CVO seat would be okay I am assuming? Thanks brotha
Hey buddy, if you are wanting to preserve the stock tank I would use a 3m film on the stock tank that is removable. I have a huge roll of it in the shop that I purchased from amazon pretty cheap. This would keep the tank cover from laying directly on the tank and also would not be to thick to keep it from going on smoothly. All other tank covers require you to completely sand the original tank down to metal and apply glue. We are trying to avoid that with this design however I cannot say it wont scuff parts of the tank over time. If you have this cover on tight there is little to no movement but it is laying on the paint so I would protect it with clear 3m adhesive film.
Will the Harley Hammock seat work with the stretched tank? I’m not a fan of the stock seat. Sure low is cool but I ride 5/600 miles in a day when we take off so I needed a better seat. I also need this stretched tank. So will it work??
It says on website will fit street glide up to 22'. I'm assuming there's a hole on the right side cover for the gas cap since there's no pictures showing that style.
I think you will have significant gaps on both sides of the seat based off of the few pictures I just saw of that seat. the nose of that seat is very narrow.
Hard to say as mustang makes a lot of seats. It's designed to not have gaps around the front of the seat if you use a OEM seat. If your seat is narrower than a oem seat, then you will have gaps on each side of the seat.
You talked about a smooth tank dash with a pop-up gas cap. Is Advan Black coming out with this smooth dash and pop-up gas cap or do I need to go to aftermarket companies for them?
I’m changing the color of my bike. How does the bottom side look and would I need to still paint the bottom of the stock tank so the original color doesn’t show
Hey Terry, unlike glue on covers that need sanding to enable the glue process and completely ruin your tank, these do lay over the stock tank so there could be some rubbing. If I was worried about the stock tank I would use a 3m film on the stock tank that is removable. I have a huge roll of it in the shop that I purchased from amazon pretty cheap. This would keep the tank cover from laying directly on the tank and also would not be to thick to keep it from going on smoothly. That is really about all you can do if you are wanting to preserve the tank.
I personally have a 2 piece cvo seat from a 2018 on my bike and it has small gaps on each side where the tank meets the seat. I like the seat way more than those gaps bother me...barley noticeable.
Being the Service Technician that makes the videos; what is the purpose of the big gap on the front of the tank? I'm assuming maybe something to do with the fairings on SG & RG, but you don't show that in the video. Yes, I know that gap isn't noticeable since the fairing is there. However, I recently put the new tank cover on my Road King and thought there would be no gap. That is the one very BIG disappointment I have with the product. Would have been perfect if the 2 halves met closer together so it would not be as noticeable. Anyway sorry for the rant, hope you check out my latest video if you are not sure what I mean.
you can heat up the logos with a heat gun or blow dryer and work fishing line behind it or even dental floss...start prying them off. Once they are off remove the old double sided tape and re stick with some new tape. If you dont get all the old glue off use something like goo gone or equivalent
I really like the simple bolt on design, compared to ones you need to glue on, but I feel like Advan Black really dropped the ball with the design. Specifically where the tank shroud suddenly takes a nose dive where it meets the seat. Every stretched tank I have ever seen has had a straight line. This just doesn't do it for me. Such a shame for a great idea. Is there a reason it takes a nosedive at the tail end?
Yes sir...there is. The reason why we canto go out past this point is that we designed it to run with a stock seat. If this area is out over the side cover then you have to run a custom seat (another 700 to 1500 bucks) Check out the ones you are talking about. You are required to run a narrow after market seat with the tank/cover/ In order for us to keep the width for the seat we cannot extend this part out straighter.
@@Advanblack I completely understand that. I will say that I personally have not seen an after market seat costing $1500. I think most aftermarket seats that I have looked at are between $500 - $700. I would love to see Advan Black make this tank shroud for aftermarket seats as well. In my experience, anyone that is customizing their motorcycle with a stretched tank/shroud, is also getting an aftermarket seat if they don't have one already. Just a thought. If you ever decide to do that, let me know and I'll be the 1st person in line to purchase 1. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video! Going to get this installed today before my husband gets home!
My question is,, will this tank cover rub and scratch the original tank?
hey Steve I saw this video how tight do you tighten the tank bolts I don't want to over tighten and break it could you let me know thanks I enjoy watching your videos
just ordered mine cant wait already have the tank dash
This was the hardest out of all of them to install. Gas cap was not wanting to fit properly at all took me about a hour I finally got it on.
Do these tank covers touch the existing tank? Will they scuff/rub the tank up? Just curious if I were to decide to take them off.
This will be next to ad to my bike , already ordered the chin piece
Great video Steve. This looks like a great product that helps give a custom look without a lot of hassle. Keep the Whiskey Project rollin!
Thanks Kevin...yes sir very easy to install with zero mess.

Great question! And great solution! I wouldn’t have thought of either or. Thanks guys

Can u use those covers on a roadking with. Flush mount gas cap and fuel gage
NO..there are no cutouts for that on this style cover
Steve, what about the air deflectors, are they still able to be used or do they need to be taken off the bike?
its say on website 2008-2020 Street Glide & Road Glide will they work on a 2010 ultra limited if i use the Low-profile Tank Dash Console
Can I use these covers with Diamond stitched seat in just bought from ADVANBLACK...cost was about $450....it has the same shape as my stock seat..ty
It's the diamond stitched RAPTOR SEAT FROM ADVANBLACK
Do they make these for the 2005 road glide?
It says on website will fit street glide up to 22'. I'm assuming there's a hole on the right side cover for the gas cap since there's no pictures showing that style.
no, the gas cap is in the center...not all 22 touring models have the side gas cap....however we are working on a side has cap cover.
Beautiful I can't wait!
Steve, would a Bad Boys cycle seat work with this stretched tank?
I think you will have significant gaps on both sides of the seat based off of the few pictures I just saw of that seat. the nose of that seat is very narrow.
That looks great! Would I be required to remove the mid air deflectors after installing these or can I keep them on?
Your mid air deflectors will work with the tank cover. Not sure about the "flow" of parts from a visual point but it will work.
I have the Headset plug in my Tank dash. Will the Tank Cover work with my dash? 🏍💨🏍💨
yes, if you remove all the wires and the headset stuff..it will work
Will this fit road kings? and if not will you be making one to fit road king models?
It will not fit the RK because of the additional wire for speedometer under the tank. Im not sure if we will be making one or not at this time.
I have a super simple question. Are carbureted softail tanks the same as carbureted dyna wide glide tanks?
Hey steve I have a mustang seat will these tank covers work
Hard to say as mustang makes a lot of seats. It's designed to not have gaps around the front of the seat if you use a OEM seat. If your seat is narrower than a oem seat, then you will have gaps on each side of the seat.
Do you offer the winged striped option on the tank cover to mimic the factor designs?
im not sure what winged stripe your talking about? what color is the bike?
@@Advanblack The bike is silver flux and black fuse 19 street glide
Hey there- so the stock seat on my 2019 SG special is not great. Could you suggest any other seat that might fit the same with this tank cover?
Im sorry i cannot right off hand
You talked about a smooth tank dash with a pop-up gas cap. Is Advan Black coming out with this smooth dash and pop-up gas cap or do I need to go to aftermarket companies for them?
Im not sure at this time. I purchased mine aftermarket.
@@Advanblack What dash and cap did you end up using?
I’m changing the color of my bike. How does the bottom side look and would I need to still paint the bottom of the stock tank so the original color doesn’t show
It covers most of the bottom of the tank..with it mounted you will not see it..its close to the frame
Will the tank covers work with mid engine air deflectors ?
Yes they will work
Is there a stretched tank cover for the Road King available.
not yet but we are working on one.
Are you able to use the stock ultra seat?
It's a little thicker and taller than the factory seat.
A little thicker will be fine....the problem is with thinner seats, you will see a gap.
@@Advanblack thanks for the response!
Is there any worries with polish or cleaning products since it's plastic?
no....the products that came on your harley are plastic...polish and wax just like you would normally.
This won't allow you to run heat deflectors will it?
yes it will
Beautiful bike..great videos. Keep up the awesome work. 🍻
Thank you sir..much appreciated.
Its a nice look
can i get that in a two tone, 2018 ultra, electric blue and silver fortune?
we currently do not offer any two tones right now
I have a Kuryakyn Signature Series Smooth Dash Console. Will it work?!
Nevermind 7:15 in I see you have the same dash!! HAHA!!
What happens to paint underneath if you take the tank covers back off?

how much of a gap if you already run an aftermarket seat
not sure man...some will be bigger than others but id say no less than 3/4 of an inch on both sides.
Steve are these on the site yet? Look awhile had no luck.
They will be available in 2 weeks on the website and one week if you get up with a Advanblack dealer.

Thank you! They will be available in 2 weeks on the website and one week if you get up with a Advanblack dealer.
So you have to remove the emblems???
yes
Will this work with a H-D Stock CVO seat >>
I have the cvo seat on this road glide now and it works fine. There is a slight, maybe 1/8 inch gap but nothing that would keep me from running it.

my tank cover hits my inner fairing with this installed
Please send me pictures of this. I run a 2 inch drop on my RG fairing and its still not close to hitting the inner fairing. steven@advanblack.com
Are the covers metal or plastic?
They are plastic.
Do you have an inside track on how to get CVO tank badges if you don't have a CVO?
Several places have them but they are aftermarket. Lots of shops selling metal powder coated or chrome versions, check around on facebook.
I bought a set from ebay, theyre on there but man are they exspensive! I think I paid $400 for mine
Do you have tanks for 2006
Im sorry Jay not at this time.
Tkhs
You didn’t show how this is installed very poor video.
Hideous
thanks! have a safe and happy new year.
What's the recommended torque to tighten the tank bolts back with these covers? Also with or without blue loc tite?
Is it necessary to remove the tank badging before installing the AB stretch tank cover?
Yes you will have to remove the tank badges.
Thanks
