That office CEO's son one I call fake as he uses words we don't say in Britain. We don't say 'bud' or say 'ma'am' and we call elevators, lifts. Neither do we normally have 'executive' floors!! Furthermore we would not say 'as if I'd lied to the Queen of England' there'd be no need to specify the country, all we'd say was 'as if I'd lied to the Queen'. Also as one other commenter here pointed out, why is the son using the CFO as a secretary running to fetch his father? The CFO would be able to clear up the matter herself and would have the authority to do so, being a very senior person in the company. Then, at the end his father moving him up to the 'executive' floor because the father doesn't have time to deal with that crap on a regular basis is nonsensical. His father only had to tell that security guard and the two office workers once and word would soon get around, there would be no need to keep correcting people!
I know so many reddit stories are fake but this one is all kinds of stupid.

    • @jacklow9611

Perhaps the use of the phrase, where he specifically identified the Queen, was the clue that determined that they were not in the UK. In a country where there is no monarchy, identifying which country's Queen was being insulted would be necessary, as it could have been any country with a Queen, and since, to the world at large (generally), insulting the Queen of England seems to be an offense worthy of the most dire punishment.
While it is true that the CFO had the authority to handle the situation, it may have been to prove a point to the office workers that OP was not someone to mess with, and if the CFO didn't mind contacting the CEO, then there was no problem. As for the "Executive floors", Some buildings have floors that are used by the executives, and the workers are stationed on other floors, as Administration and Productivity are often kept separate from each other a bit to prevent problems.

I think a lot of these are made up just for the sake of having people read them and, “like” the channel. I can believe people will deal Will idiots who treat them some of these ways. Such as the, “I don’t work here” stories. If I told someone this maybe twice, I would be walking away, and go about my business, NOT stand there and argue with them or listen to them berate me for no reason at all. If the physically grabbed me, I’m calling the police and the store manager myself....

I can relate to alot if these stories. One personal that comes to mind was when I was working for home depot. During spring things get crazy with all the garden sales and overnight is really the only time garden soils, mulches and landscaping block can be replenished. I spent a couple of seasons on this crew bringing in pallets of stuff in through the back garden gate. Since it's after hours, we don't have to wear our aprons, but usually did anyways from sheer convenience. Our store was also regularly patrolled by local police, driving around the building just for security purposes. One night myself and my supervisor were using a powerful spotlight reading product tags and bring in pallets of product. It being night, it was very hard to read labels even with security lights on. Well the police saw the spot and drove over to investigate. My supervisor was on the forklift while I used the spot to ID needed pallets. The police drove up, rolled down his window and asked if I worked there and what we were doing. I looked down at my very orange apron and said nope, we just thought they needed help bringing their stuff so we broke in and stocked up the garden. His partner started laughing and I grinned and with a chuckle the other cop yeah ok I deserved that. My supervisor came back out with the forklift, and after a short chat the police went on their way and we went on with our night. My supervisor who was a good guy and we worked well together said I can't believe you said that. I said I'm just glad they had a sense of humor as hindsight showed poking the bear was probably not the best idea. They of course still do their patrols and stop now and then to chat.

This was back in the days of full service gas stations and no pay at the pump. I had paid for my gas and was inside BSing with a couple people I knew when this woman out on the drive starts honking her horn. They had just started a self service lane a few months before and she had pulled up to the self serve pumps. She gets out of her car and storms into the station glaring at ME. She snaps, "YOUNG MAN, are you going to pump my gas or do I have to call your boss?!" I said, "I guess you'll have to call my boss but I don't think it will do any good." She gets even madder and one of the others starts laughing, she glares at him and says "OH, you think this is funny do you?" To which he replies "It's f#@%ing hilarious lady, he doesn't even work here plus you're parked at the self serve pump." She quietly turned, walked back to her car and drove away.

For story 1: I would be op's boss/manager after hearing how the restaurant manager had literally Zero communication with his employee about the tech guy coming over... I'd immediately blacklist the restaurant after that shenanigan and that shitty attitude. If they want service they might as well smile for it or wallow in there misery.

Funny tech story: When I had just left Secondary School (High School) I at College doing a graphic design course (over 20 years ago). My dad, who was an industrial electrician (now retired) was going to replace the wall plug my PC was connected to (on his day off). Well a few hours in I got a call on my mobile phone, with my dad frantic that he broke my computer somehow and asked how to find out what was wrong. Well after 10 minutes of me trying to go through basic things with him, I heard my mum say "Did you remember to plug it back in?". The line was quiet for a few seconds until I heard my dad swear and apoligise to me. All I could hear until he hung up the phone was my mum n the background laughing her head off. My dad Still gets embarrassed by it, decades later, so I don't bring it up too much LOL

LMAO, I'm 21 but I'm always either given that "Are you kidding me?" parental look from store clerks and carded on a regular basis. So I asked the man working behind the counter once, he'd carded me when I went to buy a simple $5 scratch and win ticket, Not to be rude or anything, I made that clear, I wasn't mad. I was rather amused actually that he didn't think I looked my age. But anyway, I asked him how old he'd pegged me at. Not even a second had passed before he blatantly blurted out 15! And Oh, did I laugh. Told him I would be happy as could be if I could keep looking 6 years younger than my actual age up into my 40's and I'd be absolutely golden =) He and I had a good laugh about it and I went back home and called my parents to tell him that I'd gotten carded again and that the man said I looked about 15. They laughed a little bit and told me maybe I shouldn't be living in a 5000+ square foot house on my own if people are mistaking me for a teen, that they'll probably start getting calls from the police saying they'd left their child unattended. It hasn't gone quite that far, but even though our town doesn't have a curfew for minors, I am stopped fairly regularly by the police asking what I'm up to when I'm strolling back home from the convenience store with a bag of snacks and my headphones in listening to some music while I walk. It's usually the simple "hello, how's it going, where you headed tonight?" Then a friendly "Take care." when they realize that I'm not the least bit nerved up by their presence. I work for the CAF, to begin with, and I've always just seen people as people, faults and all. My dad's a Christian minister, doesn't mean he can't throw his weight around if he needs to. While not violent or overly confrontational, if you're being unreasonably cruel to someone on the street, or you threaten him or our family, in any way, then he will step in no doubts about that. So I was pretty laid back, heck I would have split a chocolate bar with them if covid19 hadn't been an issue. But, yeah. Told them I was headed back with a late snack, held up the bag and shrugged. Heck, they could have followed me home, the house is in the dead centre of the small town right across from the grocery store and subway. a straight line through the main street from house to circle K and I had my receipt and I knew I didn't do anything wrong so why panic?

(because my dumb ass posted this before actually finishing my comment) I went into a liquor store and presented my ID. The server gave me one of the most whiplashed filled faces showed it to his workmate, who fortunately said 'yeah, that's legit' and all the while my mother is losing her shit in the background. Then there's the whole, trying to serve people who think I'm twelve but I firmly respond with 'I'm nineteen'they look like they're about to die of a heart attack with my manager losing his shit in the background.

After we hit our teens my brother proved to have a baby face and I...well I didn't. I'll put it this way, I had a full beard when I was 16, (actually grew it as 15 but it had bald spots until I was 16) and my brother was asked, when he was 31 what high school he goes to. Me on the other hand at best look my age. I envy my brother for that sometimes.

I am taking orders at the counter one day. We just got our lunch rush and things were calming down.
    When enters an old man.
    He proceeds to the counter.
I say, Welcome to Taco Bell. What can I get you?
The old man starts saying, I'll take a 6 piece, mash potatoes and gravy, biscuits and. . .
I cut him off right there, and politely say, I am sorry sir but we do not have any of those items. If you go next door to Carl's Jr. they'll have what you want.

I can believe stories like that are real because 1 simple fact.
Tldr I've seen the turn it off and back on before.
My job is restaurant maintenance, repairs not cleaning, sometimes we get calls about water heaters not working. I got called out to 2 different locations in like the past month, last one was on Monday, where their water heater wasn't working. They both had the same issue. There is a display that tells you what the fault is and what to do. For the most part you need to be certified to be authorized to work on them so the manufacturer knows someone that knows what they're doing is checking them out because you need to be able to test the part that it says is causing the fault. These both said "auto test complete/passed" and in the description to "recycle power to resume normal operation" basically turn it off and on again, think of a computer doing an update and needing to restart. There's a switch on the front by the display that puts it in standby but doesn't turn off the power. Both times all i had to do was follow the power cord from the water heater to the light switch that turns off the power to that water heater. I hate changing for something that simple but since it was a call out and the second one was like 30 minutes away, first was 5 minutes from my house, we have to charge so the manufacturer knows we went out there. And if they read the display and turned it off and on like it said it would save them how ever much they get charged, so yes I can see someone calling out because they can't be bothered to check something simple. And yes I informed the manager exactly what I did that way if it happens again 1 they don't have to pay someone to go out there to do 10 seconds of work and 2 if it's busy and we can't get out there for a while they're not without hot water.
