My buddies dad used to make this and he would take corn tortillas put them on the bbq pit and crisp them up and top it with some cheese and then would put that salsa on it and man was it good.
Hey Theo, Awesome video as always. How can I purchase that Fiesta Brand hat? I have almost all of their spices. I use the fajita seasoning w/tenderizer the most.
I’m so glad as a white man, I’m engaged to a Mexican. This dish is the best, this next to pizza and pasta are my favorite things. Man I even love hot sauce and salsa more than my old lady🤣
Man, one of my first trips to San Antonio, I went with my buddy to a cookout at his Dad’s, and Tio’s place. They were having me try all of the amazing food his family was making, and his Dad goes, “You want to try some of my Mexican berries?” I said, “Absolutely!” and he puts, about, 10 in my hand, and I put them all in my mouth. I was breathing fire for a half an hour. Chilé pequins are apparently “Mexican berries.” Haha They gave some Tequila to chase it down. Good. Times.
So I remember talking to a Mexican I worked with way back when. The gist of what I remember was him saying tortillas should be used the exact way you scooped that taco out of the pan. Not so much the bougie way we typically do it today. Is that true? Kinda true? I forgot about it because it was said in passing while we were hanging out but I just remembered it watching this video
Love the content. Wish there wasent spepper, or what he calls og salt, pepper, garlic. From years of learning from chefs this is one of the worst eays to distribute seasoning. You know damn well you dont want the same black pepper as salt on your dish. Good luck brotha.
Anyone have any suggestions for me? I toast Japones peppers , I purée them and add oil and salt to drizzle . Is ok but I want it next level like the local taco joint. What should I flavor it with? What acid ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Have you done a video on "curing" or "seasoning" (idk what the correct term is) a molcajete? Got one from grandad and grandma but its all pitted and coarse and what not
Arnie , I Love Your Channel So Does GrandMa She Wants Me To Ask If You Can Make Some Videos In Spanish Que No Te Olvides De Los Que No Hablan Ingles She Says Lol , Keep On Cookin👍🏻👍🏻
For those white folks watching, you can use a pestle and mortar just the same. It’s a smother surface though so it takes a lot longer to grind- imo makes the heat and flavors pack an extra punch. I got like 3 salsa recipes from an old lady I know who came from Yucatan/Campeche. Omg it blows the “family owned” house made restaurant salsa out of the water. I’ll just say it, about the restaurants. They make their salsa bland and sweet. It’s not supposed to be sweet and where is the heat?! Salt? Hello?? 😂
This man has improved my cooking technique tenfold
@calvinsylvea1387no pepper? You instantly downgraded it. Tortillas must be heated on a hot iron or stove top no oil
This guy is the king. Even gives such a practical warning about tomatoes exploding. Top notch!
Yet mute about Pequin peppers being explosive . .😂
cringe

These little chiles are no joke but if you treat them with respect they reward you with a very delicious flavor.
My mom used to make chili pequin salsa. Precious memories of my mom making them. Thanks, Arnie, for bringing back those precious memories.
My wife grew up in the Valley, near Brownsville. Your videos are like a nostalgia bomb for her! 😁😁
I just love how happy this man is.
Those piquins are NO JOKE, str8 FIRE
Yeah, he added a LITTLE salsa and had a face reaction to that heat
I wish I could swing by for a beer and some food

I watched the full length chile pequin video about a week ago and I've made the salsa at least three times since. Dang, that's a good salsa.
this mans food and mustache is amazing. 😂
Pequins are so good! 👍
My buddies dad used to make this and he would take corn tortillas put them on the bbq pit and crisp them up and top it with some cheese and then would put that salsa on it and man was it good.
Chunky salsa is the only way 🎉
The split screen is PERFECT. Not annoyong
If there was a superhero of delicious food, Arnie would be his secret identity (but like EVERYONE would know!)
Arnie is the best... love this guy.
It’s like the bomb yo
*Piquin is my favorite pepper on earth. And they grow wild with no effort!*
That metal spoon inside the molcajete nearly gave me a heart attack
I make a similar pequin/tepin salsa. I add a splash of vinegar and Mexican oregano in mine. Sooo delicious
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Es todo Arnie, show the people the real stuff. Chile de molcajete.
I am convince my man created the entire channel as an excuse to eat salsa and bbq everyday
Just saw the Choriqueso recipe and was wondering "ooh chile piquin I wonder if he has a recipe on his channel" and then BOOM here it is
Thank you BBQ Mario.
Bro you look like Mario this is nuts 😮
😂
Super Arnie World
My mom makes this from time to time and is definitely my favorite salsa as well. Not for those who think black pepper is spicy tho lol
Hey Theo, Awesome video as always. How can I purchase that Fiesta Brand hat? I have almost all of their spices. I use the fajita seasoning w/tenderizer the most.
i’m gonna tell my kids this was steve gomez
Do you roast the peppers prior to making this? I know that would add quite a bit of beautiful flavor, I’m curious!
I was wondering the same thing. I was looking for my answer in the comments. Maybe this will help him see the question and he'll answer! 😊
Dry roast the piquins, then soak in water to soften, then add it and tomatos, onions...etc in the blender. Just the way I do it.
There ain't no salsa better than a molcajete salsa, they are the BOMB!!!
Don't let his Nonchalant attitude towards pequin peppers sway you into a False sense of BRAVADO... Thats A HOTT SALSA, Y'all 😅😂
Not surprised because I’ve heard the smaller chiles are usually hotter. 😅
Can I come over I’ll bring beer lol

I want to know what's in the 🍳 skillet that you dipped the tortilla in. That looks amazing!!
Looks like queso fundido. Queso and chorizo I believe. It's absolutely amazing
Chori-queso!
Salsha 🥵
Mmmm..mmm😴😴
what was in the iron skillet?
Are u in the McAllen area
I wanted to know if any grit gets into the food when using the contraption
What’s the cheesy dish you had prepped there?
Looks delicious by the way 👌🏼
Look at his full videos. It’s his choriqueso recipe which is only chorizo and Oaxaca cheese. It’s really good.
@@judykeown Nicee, thank you definitely want to try it 💯

How do you get that barbita so dark? Que asa?
I came here for penguin chili w salsa.. totally read that wrong 😢
Is Chile pequin same as Chile de monte ?
Love the content.

Try different things till you find what you like. Tomatoes and or tomatillos is pretty standard at most taco joints along with onion and garlic.
Yeah probably best right!?
Thanks
I’m going to try some vinegar and lime

How much chile pequin did you use in this video?
I trust anyone's cook when they have a great mustache like that.
Yo hold up what is that cheese dip?
South Texas made all day

Did you ruin the knife too?
Literally is salt pepper garlic mix on everything
That garlic tho
If you listen to one part of the video of your eyes closed you will feel like reporting this video
Why was I born white and not in Texas. What a miss. My heart and stomach is brown lol
Now my next question is how do I stop farting?...
Thish ish shalt pepper and garlic
Broooooo what a trap! Those piquin chiles are pure evil 😂
Stop using Chile Pequín and start using Chiltepin
Adopt me please.
Brother man, those chiles are so all spice and no flavor. I only eat them when there is absolutely no other spice available to put on my food
Knife abuse! 😱 Jkjk i know you keep a good edge and who cares about surface scratching
IM GONNA SMESH YOUR TOMATO
Yet another video ruined by stupid RUclips lettering on the screen
