Thank you, I recently purchased this model and thought that the instructions as shown would make it kind of difficult to paint the back of it with the veil already connected. The way you did this in separate pieces is very helpful
Many thanks, I am glad you found it useful. Specially once it is assembled it is quite wabbly unfortunatly but at least it is painted in a comfort way.
This isn’t just ‘good’ or ‘nice’ - it’s brilliant. Absolutely love the scheme, which is very well observed, in comparison to the GW artwork. I’ve been holding off painting this model for some time, and if I can achieve a result anywhere near like what you achieve in this tutorial, I’ll be delighted. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you very much!^^ I am sure you will manage to paint your own one similar to this scheme as I tried to paint it in a way to be easily achievable. I would love to see your finished model once its painted ;)
Came across this video as i have got a bit of a Nighthaunt phase going on. This video is fantastic. Painted along to each of the stages and though mine doesn't look as good my painting has come on. Hope more videos are on the way.
Pretty paint job, well executed! The ancient witch/ghost should surely have white hair though, and the ancient wooden chest would be rather grey, than dark brown. The hour glass, and the thorns and roses are a common theme in nighthaunt minis, they have a magical significance, like the green flames on certain characters. Your shots of citadel paint pots reminds us that of these quite expensive paints half gets wasted when it turns to crud inside a part used pot which no longer closes properly! Though it is also a great advantage, the quick drying nature of acrylics is a reminder why I still don't use an airbrush, I can't clean or declog the thing after use and these paints set like concrete
Many thanks! I did the base myself, there is a video of me painting the base but in the beginning I talk about and showing the custom made base without any paints.
Thank you very much! I am glad you like it, it is one of my favourite models so far.^^ For your question: Unfortunatly GW has limited coloured primers, if you wish to usw for your model I would recommend white primer and then apply the celwstra grey on the model. My method was applying the Celestra Grey with an airbrush onto the plastic with no primer, However with brush works too, 3 thin coats of Celestra grey should do the job to get an all even cover on the model. By the end the model is getting enough layers on them that it is hard to get the paint chipped of, but as a final layer of matt varnish also secures the models more.
Granted I'm commenting before I watch it all but curious how often/and or why you would/wouldn't paint some spots before assembly? It looks beyond amazing!! I just grabbed this & set of banhees. Had a lot of trouble making the banshee turn out decent due to hard to reach areas...any tips?
Many thanks, glad you like it! It is a great question, how often is depending on the models assemble difficulty, are the parts going to block some of the features that afterwards you want to paint or not. Which also the answer on the why part too. Also it is a good method to start from the inside and move outwards in this way you can paint first the hard to reach areas and paint the easier areas without correcting. It is really personal preference, do you want to paint all the details on your minis or a battleready paint scheme is enough.
For some reason I would want to do this unit as if in a black wedding dress/shroud with blood and the bottom of the veils and dress. I definitely would want to give it some sort of weird greenish or yellowish underglow of some sort with the eyes glowing through the veil...would be spooky. ( The whole army would be pretty much this )
It is a great question! That depends on the paint you are going to be using, me personally I am happy with the citadel brushes which are synthetic fibers, but also the army painter brushes are really good. I think it is personal preference.
@@architectofdreams73 another great and relatively cheap brush to use for better control and detail (e.g. eyes, highlights etc.) is the Raphael 8404 brushes, sizes 0, 1 and 2! I got mine in Australia for about $25 with shipping but you could probably get them everywhere in the world at a similar or cheaper price. They are a fantastic real sable hair brush. For your regular painting citadel brushes are good to start, but you can get great synthetic brushes from your local at supplier :)
I am not so sure to be honest... but deffinetly the sound. To be honest I tried on RUclips muting the segment but nothing and checked even on the original there is barely any sound mainly I am talking..
@@tyronemack3769 No worries for that you can base paint it with a brush also. Give 1 coat on the whole surface and once its dry add another coat just to have an all even basecoat on the model.
@@JvdK I used superglue to hold it there, but just a tiny amount to hold the head, afterwards its easy to break it off from the stand and then glue it in its place once it is done. No worries mate, happy to help.^^
@@N3rds0me i am thinking of leaving the hair off aswell, inbetween the robes and hair seems almost impossible to reach. I btw made an almost one on one copy of your base for her. I just miss the hands but i have no models atm where i can take the hands off of. And thanks for the tip! I was afraid i wouldnt be able to take the head off again.

Bought this model yesterday and I’m so inspired to try something other than mimicking (and failing to mimic) the box art! Great tutorial, thank you.
Thank you for watching!^^

A lovely miniature!! I am glad you found some useful tips in the video!

Haha! Cheers mate!!^^ Yeah at the moment I have these representations of the citadel paint but soon it will be changed in the future videos!
Awesome tutorial, thanks a lot!
Cheers!^^
Thanks for the tutorial, I now have a magnificent Olynder thanks to you ;)
Thats wonderful to hear, would love to see the result.:)

Very nice Video! Can I use Vellejo Glaze Medium instead of Lahmian Medium?
Unfortunatly I have no experience with that brand but I think it is good as a replacement.

The copyright claim was related to the music you used?

What's the name of the plastic base you used to hold the head of the model?
It is called flight stand base. Had that for a long time and for this video this its job amazingly.
@@N3rds0me thank you! I was assembling the model while having the video on the background. As soon as I get the stand base I'll start painting her.

Could you point me in the direction where i can get one of those holders you used for the veil, can't figure out what they are called.
It is called flight stand bases, here is a link but it is just as a starting point to search for it.www.ebay.com/itm/194200686540
