My mom was a Custodian at a school here in town. One of the classes had a Tarantula...while she was working, over the course of like 8 hours the Tarantula laid on its back...and did this
I kept walking back into the room, because I thought it was dying...and I kept an eye on it....I was so sad because I thought it was sick...then so happy when it came out the bottom.
It was the most fascinating thing that I have ever seen...it totally blew me away ❤

This is so crazy. It’s like they are giving birth to themselves. This morning I checked on my GBB and noticed she’s really webbed herself up in a corner. With like no escape. Thought it was silly and left. When I came back she was on her back and at first I freaked out then I thought she might be shedding. Looked up a bunch of vids and kept just checking in. Eventually she was twitching and the next time I came back she already started to molt! It’s crazy. I keep leaving and coming back and she’s making progress. I’m literally watching her molt rn!! Crazy.

My brother's first tarantula what's a curly hair. We woke up one morning and looked at him and he was on his back so we thought he died. We left him in the enclosure and went to town and we were going to film away when we got back. When we got back we would like to just molted it was a really cool thing to see him bigger and shiny

What you don't explain is maybe the most interesting part of the process -- how the spider actually gets bigger. They aren't full of gas -- they are solid and liquid the same as we are, and solids and liquids have constant volumes. So how does it suddenly expand? The answer is the abdomen, which actually gets remarkably smaller during the molt. Fluid (hemolymph?) gets pumped out of it and into the limbs and cephalothorax to expand them. And then over time as the spider eats, the abdomen fills up again until its time to do it all over again.
