@@RevelationOne They are MEANT for small cages, if you actually looked into it you’d see this is the perfect size for them. They don’t travel, they don’t migrate, they stay at home and ambush prey. There is nothing abusive or mean about this. In fact these tarantulas NEED US. Like all other domesticated species they would not last very long in the wild. It’s not so simple as “let the spider go.”
I swear I see so much ignorance in the spider hobby, maybe look things up first before commenting.

Hey Kat! Since you love rocks as much as I do, I wanted to mention: look in gravel pits for fossils. Gravel is often mostly comprised of limestone, which is very "soft" and a lot of times mined from ancient seabeds and full of coral, snail fossils, crinoids, and shells. I have found a ton of cool fossils just picking through parking lots.

That's fungus Kat lol. 🤪 Coco peat and fiber both grow fungus if left damp for too long, just like most any type of wood or wood fibrous material such as shavings and etc. You can mitigate it buy adding sand and sphagnum to your cocofiber mix when you make it. It allows more aeration while also keeping the substrate on the more most side if need be. Just thought I'd share my experience cuz I've noticed a lot of keepers having this issue, especially those of us (like you and I) who live in more humid climates like Florida and other southern parts of US and South America.

If you bake the coco fibre (i do the whole brick before adding water and breaking it up) at 180' F in the oven for about 30 minutes it will sterilize it and kill mould spores/parasites that may be in there. It won't completely prevent mould but it definitely reduces the chances of getting mould in your enclosure, even the damper ones.
